Called the day before to confirm ocean suite smoking, and to let them know we may be there before the 4PM check in. No problem, our room will be ready, just call when we're an hour or so away. I called the next day, was told check in is at 4. Got there at 2, no room ready, but we can wait by the pool, and there is now no smoking in the hotel. I explain […] that I had called Saturday to insure all was well, and was told I was given wrong information. I give Joilathan my cell number so he can call when it's ready. 20 minutes I wait at the desk for pool towels, and a man comes in off the street and asked the price of an ocean suite-$89 a night-the man books for 2 nights and gets a key. I ask Joilathan why that man got a room with no reservations, and I didn't. He said it was a different type room-I show him my reservation and say-no ocean suite, and am then told I don't understand. I agree that I don't understand, and ask for him to please explain to me, and I was told I would have to be on that side of the counter. 4PM-no call, no room-I am almost in tears and would've cancelled my reservation but would still have to pay one night. Finally got to our room at 4:30. This hotel is 100 years old, has great history and ambiance, but their help is so rude and unprofessional that after staying there for years, I doubt if we will be back. Read more

We stayed for only 2 nights, thank God. the hotel has some pleasant rooms, but you must pay $$$$$$ for those rooms. We were told all rooms were non-smoking, however ours had a strong smell of cigar. There was suppose to be a small kitchen, it was tiny. No clean towels for night number 2. Stay there only if you cannot afford anything else.

We did not receive the two bed room with Ocean view we reserved. They offered us a two bed room without ocean view at the rate we paid. Not acceptable! The sheets on the pull out were dirty and filled with sand. No beach/pool towels available. Overall a poor experience

We found the hotel to be old and out of date. Although the room was fairly clean. one shower was missing handle and there was mold on the tile. There is no carpet here just tile floors. upon check in, i was met with a snippy attendant who told me it would be hours before my room was ready. she was rude, and inconsiderate of my and other customers at the counter. although, she was working by herself at the time. i was told i would get a call when the room was ready, but never received the promised call, and had to go to the counter […] to inquire. the room attendant was nice and i gave her an extra $20 tip for expediting the cleaning. Oliver, the concierge, lied to me on 2 occasions. when i needed a rental car, he quoted me one price, then changed it. he also told the rental car compaany i was a hotel employee. a total lie. i told oliver that i needed a ride to the cruiseport in 2 days at 1030. he said it was "free" courtesy shuttle. i inquired the next day to confirm, and he confirmed the trip. the day of checking out, i told him again, and he had no record of it and said the cost was $25. i took a taxi instead for $15 from the car rental company. overall, the experience was horrible, the facilities are way outdated and the toilet is just inches off the floor. DO NOT STAY HERE even though it is on the beach. And, many of the rooms are for sale as condo's. Not worth staying at, let alone purchasing. Read more

very old hotel in the process of bein renovated. Had to wait 3 hours for our room to be cleaned because the could not get the guest out of the room. Curtains were torn, but overall the room was clean, bed was very comfortabel. Our room faced the road, there was no road noise which was very nice, however, hall and room noise was loud.

Absolute worst service I've ever had. There wasn't even a front desk clerk for over 30 minutes. He was late for work, walked right past us, then left for a half hour to park his car. Then came back extremely rude and defensive.

Hotel is older. Set up is odd as there are two factions: The hotel and a vacation type area. Front desk staff is very helpful, friendly, and accomodating. We just had issues with the rooms. 1st room had no safe and we needed one. The room is owned similar to a time share and the owners don't want on in their room. We then were moved to another room […] with a safe. That room was fine but then had issues with the hot water in the shower not working; maintenance came and fixed but issue arose again. Felt like a federal prison. Uniformed security guards at the pool, pool towels unavailable at the pool, no poolside service, no restaurant or bar at all. Shuttered businesses throughout Oceanwalk. Poorly kept, badly managed, ghostly feeling. One week stay, room was never cleaned,soap buildup on bathtub made it very slippery; trash never removed. Got clean towels once. No beach/pool towels. The only nice thing was closeness to beach.
