Outstanding B&B. Breakfast is wonderful. Chris is an international gourmet chef and he can make anything from a full Irish breakfast to poached eggs and salmon. Should be named B&B and D for dinner. If you book ahead a truly gourmet dinner is available. A real plus after day of travel. Rooms are updated and very comfortable. Owners are very helpful and knowledgable.

All ground floor. Excellent facility. Easiest shower controls in Europe. The best part of it are Chris and Elaine. Watch the news in the Living room. Eat all locally grown and prepared foods at the single dining table. Visit with all the local visitors who come in regarding their dairy, their beef, etc. A chef's kitchen and a Chef, all carefully overseen by Elaine. Talk music, talk cars, talk world travel. The down side, it gets booked up early in the summers, with return guests. Less than two miles past Tagoat on the right. Five miles from the ferry port. Also County Wexford is rich in good things as well.

I never normally take the time to leave hotel reviews but this is such an outstanding B&B that I wanted to do so on this occasion. Really delightful hosts and wonderful food. An excellent standard of accomodation very conveniently located for Rosslare, or in our case, the Wexford Opera Festival. Will definitely be going back.

The B&B was well appointed and the owners, Eileen and Chris could not have been more helpful and friendly. Chris is a great Chef and if you want to have dinner just ask them and book it in advance. A worthwhile experience. We did not stay long as it was en route but so well located for the ferry. I will definitely stay there again and well recommended.

Eileen and Chris are exceptional hosts and their dinners and breakfasts will be at the top of your culinary list for eating in Ireland. You will actually be staying in a professional chef's home. It was like visiting with friends you have not seen for a few years and were catching up on old times.

Very short one night stay while passing through. Chris and Eileen were fantastic! Especially as I did not realise I had not actually paid! Used online booking which took CC details but NOT payment. Confused me quiet a bit I can tell you, I'm not the first apparently so take note. Thankfully Chris caught up with me as I was about to board the ferry and after a bit of explaining got it sorted. Both were very understanding and I thank them both for a lovely stay and look forward to staying again. Visit the lobster pot if you get the chance also. Again Archways is an ideal spot with a lovely (and understanding) couple running it. Well worth a visit.

Everything was top class. The food, in particular, stands out. There is an optional evening meal for which everyone sits at a communal table so you get to meet your fellow guests. This is an interesting concept and it works brilliantly. The meal was top quality; you would be hard pushed to find an independent restaurant at the same level. The breakfast is also very good. Whiskey in the porridge!

I stayed here overnight so I could catch the early ferry back to Wales from Rosslare dock, which is only about 5 or 10 minutes away. The people who run it were really helpful and friendly, the room was clean and very well presented, the bed was comfortable, and I'd come back on the basis the Irish breakfast alone. Great place.

This was the best Bed and Breakfast venue that I have ever stayed in. The room was modern, clean, very comfortable and the shower was to die for! The quality of the food was superb - the owners could not be more friendly and welcoming or do more for us. The idea of one big table which we all sat around for breakfast was a great idea making it a relaxed and entertaining experience. Incredible value for money.

Although on the N25 and only a few minutes away from Rosslare Harbour, Archways is set in lovely grounds in a rural setting. We had a really warm reception from Eileen and the room and whole house were immaculately presented. Facilities included Tassimo coffee machine, little 'welcome' cakes, an i-phone dock and free WiFi. Eileen suggested a nearby pub for dinner, where the food was good and the ambience perfect. An extraordinary range of items are on offer for breakfast which can be served (if required) in good time to catch the 9am ferry. I'm only sorry we we there simply for an overnight stop.

Almost too good a place for a single overnight stay! We stayed at Archways prior to an early ferry crossing and it was a joy. Fussy son got his wifi and home-made chicken goujons, the rest of us got stuck into Chris's excellent cooking for dinner (top-notch ingredients). Nice touch to let us know to bring our own wine. Bedrooms lovely and comfortable with ace coffee machine and iPod dock, also the shower was good and strong. Breakfast was superb, fantastic selection (spoilt for choice!) and a helpful bacon sandwich to go for my wife, whose stomach can't handle the prospect of an early breakfast. We'd certainly stay here again!

"Amazing stay"

The Archways is very well appointed, clean and warm. The welcome was friendly and we stayed for the evening meal. The food was delicious, cooked by Chris who was able to describe exactly where all the locally sourced (and even home grown) produce was from. Eileen was a very attentive host. The difference was that we were all sat together around the dining room table; which was unexpected but in the end worked well, sharing holiday stories. Breakfast was a delight and the best sausages and bacon we had tasted in Ireland. The porridge comes highly recommended as well.

Chris and Eileen provide a very warm welcome and the most amazing food! Chris is a 'culinary genius' and grows/rears/makes most of his food. He has a passion for food and the 3 course dinner and breakfasts are well worth experiencing - delicious. Eileen and Chris have worked as a team for many years and their experience shows - nothing is too much trouble and there is good attention to detail. Archways is but 10 minutes from Rosslare and ideal for the ferry but also for exploring up the East coast. I was slightly concerned when we arrived that Archways is situated just off the main road but I needn't have worried as it is very well insulated and you don't hear a thing! Would highly recommend Archways and thank you to Chris and Eileen for making our short stay so wonderful.

Hard to add to the comments already here, but if you're travelling via Rosslare there really is no other rational choice! Warm welcome, clean and comfortable, well appointed rooms, and the best food you'll ever get. Breakfast is best I've ever had, but the evening meal is not to be missed. Chris is not a chef, he's a self described "food missionary", so don't miss the opportunity to partake. There aren't many B and B's that you positively look forward to going back to, but Chris and Eileen have created something special here.

This is a clean, warm and comfortable bed and breakfast conveniently sited for the Rosslare to Pembroke Dock Irish Ferry. I have stayed there a couple of times always I have been made very welcome. The breakfasts are full and tasty. A good watering hole en route to Rosslare.

"What a find..!"
04/30/15 brainerd62 Bideford, United Kingdom
With our usual overnight accommodation arrangements in Rosslare having sadly closed a couple of years ago due to illness, my wife and I have been searching for suitable alternatives ever since without success. So, our first stay at the Archways was an indication that perhaps our search was at an end..! Our twin-bedded room was comfortable, with all mod cons, including an unusual tea and coffee making machine, flat screen TV displaying most UK stations, etc., etc. The en suite bathroom contained a large shower space, with main shower head as well as a separate hand held one - lots of hot water, although with our room being at the end of the corridor and furthers from the boiler, the water took a short while to reach the desired temperature. However, after 10 minutes running the basin hot tap, hoping for hot water to shave in, I gave up..! Clearly a plumbing problem here. Fortunately, the flexible piping on the hand shower was long enough to reach the basin.... Problem duly reported. Free wi-fi available, although some difficulty in connecting from our room, probably too far away from the hub. No problem elsewhere, though. The Archways is one of the few establishments providing an evening meal, and I have to say without any reservation, the food provided here is EXCELLENT...! Our dinner was a starter of garlic mushrooms with bacon, followed by a delicious beef ragout with caramelised onions & vegetables, then (at our request) a fruit platter, but with a difference (lightly cooked caramelised pineapple with other fruits enhanced by a strawberry sauce, aided by rhubarb & ginger purée....) - absolute heaven..! Breakfast the next morning was fresh fruit, cereals followed by scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, and more.... The quality and presentations throughout was first class but not entirely surprising considering that mine host Chris is a professional chef, and with his wife Eileen have been in the catering trade for a considerable time. The lounge and dining room are open plan, divided by a central fireplace, visible from both sides, and contain comfortable furnishings in which to relax before dinner - various musical instruments are scattered around, such as piano, guitar, violin, and so on and dining takes place at one large table around which 10 can be seated comfortably. The establishment has no liquor licence, but Chris has no objection to guests providing their own wine or beer for the evening. Located not far from the village of Tagoat, about 5 - 10 minutes from Rosslare, but on the Wexford side of the village, it's conveniently situated for ferry passengers. Would I go back there..? Oh, yes - most definitely.....!!

"A highlight of of our trip to Ireland!"

We read about the Irish Breakfast at this quaint B and B and wanted to check it out-- and it was as amazing as expected. Our hosts at this delightful inn made our stay a wonderful experience. We enjoyed the lovely rooms, getting to know our hosts and, of course, the delicious food. Chris, a professional chef, cooked dinner for our party of six as well as another frequently visiting family. We enjoyed the gourmet food, ambiance and Irish hospitality. What a find!

We have stayed at many places around Wexford over the years but have always been in a rush to dash onward from Rosslare. Archways was a delightful and satisfying surprise. The rooms are splendid ,the food delicious and the welcome by Eileen warm and informative. The evening meal was a special occasion presented and served by chef Chris . We felt special yet we guess that " special " is the norm each evening at Archways . Do not hesitate to book, do not speed westward without a stop here. Most enjoyable.

Archways B&B was absolutely wonderful. Eileen made us feel right at home. The rooms were great. Each room had a coffee/tea maker and a thermos of fresh milk. I loved this because I could have tea in the morning before my shower, which made the start of my day ever more special. The highlight was the breakfast, with homemade jams, homemade soda bread, and homemade bacon and sausage. On our second night Chris made us a fantastic dinner. In the afternoon and evening there was a fire in the fireplace in the living room. It was so comfortable, I did not want to leave. I would still be there if I could. Writing this makes me want to go back.

"Very good B&B, delicious breakfast, nice rooms!"

We are a couple and we spent one night in this B&B. The owners are really kind, the rooms are clean, new and nice. Our room was small but the bathroom was big. I think they have different rooms with different size. You can have coffee or tea in the room and at our arrival there were also two delicious home made biscuits . I should have asked for the recipe. They can set the breakfast when you need and it is really good! My partner had the full irish breakfast and the sausage was great (handmade)! He said the best he have ever tried since he was in Ireland (4 years!). I had the omelette and it was delicious too!!! I think that it is a very good quality for the price and we have tried a lot of B&B. If we go in this area again we will stay here for sure.
