Great hotel, 10 min. Walking from shibuya station. Room is small but really clean and you have everything u need inside. The staff even left a bag with towels, linnens and robes at the door since ive put the "dont disturb" sign. Receiption team was very nice but didnt know english very well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband and I really enjoyed this hotel and neighborhood. There was a lot of things for us to do. I know the room was small but it had everything we needed. We would definitely stay at this APA hotel again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Convenient to Shibuya albiet at the top of a slight hill after a long day trekking Tokyo I wished it was slightly closer to Shibuya station. Room was small, clean and unfortunately even though I booked a smoking room (all what was available) a non-smoking was not available when I checked in. TV didn't have any English stations. Only one lift was a minor […] pain. Staff were very friendly & helpful to assist me in couriering my 2 large suitcases to my next destination (using Yamato), which arrived the next day. "Clean, modern, fair price with awesome location."
I stayed here for 5 nights while in Tokyo. This is a great location next to everything you would want to do in Shibuya. It's about a 5 minute walk to the train station and central the all the shops, bars and restaurants. The alleys behind it are way fun to explore. Like most of Japan, it's pretty clean and the amenities are very nice for it's level. […] The biggest con is that it's small, smaller than my stay in Shinjuku and Kyoto but it wasn't a problem. I would definitively stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small but very clean and confortable"
Apa Hotel was shocking tiny especially coming from the US. The place was so small that my wife and I had to put our suitcases in creative places. One on the floor at the entryway and another in space in front of the bed. We thought it would be claustrophobic at first, but we later on really felt very comfortable. It was very cozy since it was small […] yet comfortable. The bed and pillows were firm and we both liked them. The bathroom was small but extremely efficient. And if you've never been to Japan, our room had a bidet toilet seat which most of Japan has. All I have to say is once you try it, you won't want to go back to the normal toilet seat. Clean as can be. Location was awesome. Other than not having a spectacular view, it doesn't get too much better as you are around 6-7 blocks of the busiest intersection in the world. It doesn't get much more central than that. Cleanliness was great and the only thing that could improve with the service is if their English could improve a little. Other than that, the attitude and willingness to help was great. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Centrally located hotel in Shibuya"
This business hotel, part of the APA chain, is one of the nicer ones and is up a hill from JR Shibuya station. It's not far from the many attractions of the area, is clean, updated, and a great value. Check in and out is fast and easy, staff are attentive and everything was greatGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Hotel for it's price."
Staff spoke English and made sure I was satisfied with my stay. Location was perfect for shopping and night life. Night clubs like Club Womb were in walking distance, along with the shopping centers around the Shibuya Train station. Room was small, but I expect that from most hotels in Japan. Definitely plan on staying again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Minutes from Shibuya Crossing"
Nice hotel about 5 minutes from Shibuya Crossing. Room was a bit dusty, but good overall. Standard Japanese hotel room size.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was a great location, however sometimes the cleaning staff did not make the beds correctly, however I fixed it myself with no problems. Small rooms but all I did was sleep there so it wasn't a problemGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to city attractions, but a little crowded."
A little crowded for two people to stay in one room. We could barely find room to put our suitcases down to open them and grab stuff. However, we were only staying one night so it was ideal to stay here and be close to Shibuya's train station and all the city's attractions. Facilities were clean and the hotel staff were nice enough to let us keep our […] bags there until the afternoon. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A business hotel"
Typical of APA hotels: clean rooms with comfortable bed, very tight space, fairly convenient location but rates feel higher than what it should be for what you're getting. (Even if you book a non single bed the bed is pushed up against the wall on three sides so the two of you will have to get in from the same side.) Very close to a ton of restaurants, […] shops and convenience stores. about 10 mins from the Metro, which can feel close or far depending on how much luggage you have. Well kept hotel, good for a night's stay but not for relaxing in or a romantic getaway. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Erratic housekeeping & translucent bathroom door"
While it is a cute looking boutique hotel and the paper cranes and yukata are a nice touch, there were some definite issues here. Small rooms (as can be expected in Japan). The housekeeping was erratic. Sometimes they didn't clean at all. Some nights the AC did not seem to work. The bathroom door was translucent - which can be a bit of a privacy issue […] if you are not traveling alone. It was kind of a haul from the train station (when pulling luggage), but we found a better way to get to it - cutting through the Shibuya Mark City food court - look for the blue tunnel across the street from the hotel and cut through there for the best way to the station (or cut through Mark City toward Dogenzaka-Ue on the way there). They should list this access information on their website. The staff did not speak English, which could be a problem for some travelers. On the bright side: they had free wifi in the rooms, they had a washer and dryer, the location is convenient (but note it is near Love Hotels and a red light district too, so men might expect solicitation when out at night). "Good location, but not so great"
The hotel was all-in-all pretty good, but it had a few issues. My room was a little musty smelling, and a few days into my stay the Air Conditioner stopped working. Also, the fact that it had about 14 Floors and only one Elevator was a little inconvenient. Plus, there was no Iron in the room, and I found myself really wishing I had one. As a place to […] go at night and sleep, it was perfectly adequate, however. The location was great, only a few minutes walk to Shibuya Station, and the surrounding neighborhood was packed with Restaurants, Coffee places, and a variety of shops, but at night it got a little seedy... if you walk around later on, you WILL get propositioned by 'ladies of the night', FREQUENTLY. Sometimes every couple of steps. Except for these details, which were mostly inconveniences and not really glaring defects, I was basically satisfied and might consider staying here again. "Lovely hotel in the heart of Shibuya"
We stayed here for four days at the kick off of our Japan trip. Immaculately clean, friendly staff, small but well appointed rooms. Close to everything in Shibuya but a few blocks up from the total chaos of the scramble..Genuine Expedia guest review
this place is located pretty conveniently. However, the rooms was so small. sometimes i would feel claustrophobic in the bathroom, i would leave the door open when i get ready. "Does the job"
The APA Hotel Shibuya Dogenzaka-Ue is a good, not great hotel. It does the job. The staff is friendly and helpful. The modern contemporary rooms are comfortable if small; but then aren't all hotel rooms in Tokyo small? "friendly staff with clean rooms"

"Very nice hotel 10 min walk from Shibuya station"
The hotel is really great for its price. Clean, easy to find and close to the subway. (about 10 minutes walk from Shibuya station on a main street) One of the best aspects of this hotel is that it's easy to find, and for clothing shoppers - it's about 8 minute walk from Shibuya 109. Another plus is that it's 2-3 minutes away from the location where […] you catch the limousine bus, and there is just about everything you need nearby (Don Quixote, Lumine, Shibuya 109, restaurants, 7/11, Family mart, Airport Express Train, Limousine bus service etc). The only thing that was a bit of a downer was the room was on the much smaller size compared to some of the places we've stayed in Tokyo. It was slightly smaller than some of the business hotels in shinjuku. If you're a huge shopper planning to fill two - three luggage of clothing by the end of your trip, the room might get a little crammed. But for the price overall it's a very good hotel. "Great hotel in a good location. Highly recommend."
I loved the Apa Hotel. It was within walking distance to everything cool in Shibuya, including the train station. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially given the obvious language barrier. The room was slightly cramped, but still very comfortable. It felt a little like a room on a cruise ship. The only drawback was the slow elevator, but […] it really wasn't that bad. I highly recommend the Apa Hotel if you intend to be in the Shibuya area and want a good overall experience. Based in Shibuya area of Tokyo, about 10 minutes from train station and relatively easy to find (providing you go up the correct road!) Overall an OK hotel with pleasant staff and basically all you need. Rooms are small with no where to store clothes which was a surprise. "Smallest Japanese business hotel room"
I have stayed in several Japanese business hotels and this must have been the smallest room ever. We booked a standard double for 2 people which was supposed to be 18 sqm. but it turned out to be even smaller than Chisun's or Sunroute's single room. Beware of misrepresentation! "Perfect for Layover"
My wife and I landed from a 14 hour flight into Narita and took the airport limousine to Shibuya which left us relatively near this hotel. The place is pretty tiny, and unfortunately the smallest room I've ever stayed in (compounded by the fact that we had multiple suitcases) but it was comfortable and the staff were friendly. We literally left our […] bags in the room and walked towards Shibuya crossing which is only about a ten minute walk. The area surrounding is really it's selling point - so much to do and see, especially if it's your first time in Tokyo. We literally only slept in the room, and for that purpose it was perfect: small enough bed, but comfortable and the room was tiny, but again for one night you don't need any more. Clean and friendly staff, perfect for a layover and great destination for Shibuya! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good week in Shibuya"
Close to the heart of Shibuya and a good place to stay if you're planning to spend most of your stay sightseeing. The walk uphill to get to the hotel is quite a challenge if you have heavy bags so consider taking a taxi to the hotel when you check in. I stayed for 2 nights due to its good location. However, the room was too small and allowed only one medium luggage to b placed in otherwise u hv a difficult time to moving around in the room but I guess that's fine coz u r in shibuya to shop, dine and hvg fun not to stay all day long in the hotel roomGenuine Expedia guest review
The rooms are slightly larger than usual in Japan (but still small) and the bed is like a cloud.Genuine Expedia guest review

"excellent location but not for the claustrophobic"
Location is brilliant, the APA is a few minutes from the heart of everything so it is pretty much an amazing spot to stay. BUT the small double room was freakin small. There was a tiny bed with one sleeper jammed against the wall, a really tiny bathroom and nowhere to move, one suitcase could be opened at a time near the doorway, not super clean and […] thankfully we could open the window as the aircon was barely working so the room was stuffy. The breakfast and staff on other hand were great. So pros and cons, if u don't mind the squash and its just a night or two, it is a beautiful, central spot but be prepared for the big squeeze. Bigger rooms in Shinjuku. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rest & Leave"
The hotel rooms were small as everyone was saying (literally all that you can fit is a bed). Luckily, that bed was extremely comfortable and we only used the hotel as a place to sleep anyway. It isn't too far from Shibuya Crossing/Station. Simply turn take the path to your left once you walk out of the hotel and then follow that path for a bit then […] you're there. Shibuya just wasn't the place for us, so we didn't enjoy it as much as others would. The staff were friendly and spoke English which was extremely helpful for two first time overseas travellers. "If you are a couple don't stay here"
Whilst the hotel is new and well appointed, if you are a couple don't stay. the reason for this statement is that the rooms are so small it is impossible for 2 people to be doing things at the same time. "Reasonable option for Shibuya"
Once we overcame the room size (which is typical for Japanese hotels in Tokyo) we were fairly comfortable in the room. Excellent new hotel just minutes away from Shibuya crossing. Plenty of minimarts around the area. Finding food is not a problem. Hotel is clean and brand new at the time of lodging.
