"wonderful host and convenient location"
Hazel is an absolutely wonderful host. We arrived late at night, about 12 hours later than we expected, due to flight problems but Hazel stayed up late to let us in. Our luggage arrived in England even later than we did and she did a great deal to minimize that inconvenience. She cooks wonderful breakfasts and the room we stayed in was comfortable and […] quiet. Her home is a short walk to the Forest Gate train station (about a block away), where you can catch a train to Stratford station, a much larger station from which you can get just about anywhere in London. On the Sunday we were there we had to wait about ten minutes for the train at Forest Gate, on the other days of the week we were there the trains were running more frequently than that. "Top class B&B in lovely village with city links."
Well appointed room, extensive breakfast menu and very attentive hosts. Linlithgow is small enough to offer a great village atmosphere but large enough to provide dining choice and meet shopping needs. Only shortfall is parking but we managed to find a spot each evening. Easy train journey into Edinburgh.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very welcoming experience from Hazel. Flexible to our needs: I needed breakfast at 4.45am ahead of RideLondon Surrey cycling event!Genuine Expedia guest review
Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Port in a storm"

I had thought we'd reviewed here but obviously not. I haven't ever stayed at Grove house, but my husband has. During the Olympics my husband was working in London and having hideous problems with over priced dire accommodation...I was tasked from derbyshire to find him digs. Tearing my hair out, I was reading yet another awful review of a place that had looked so promising, where I found mention of Hazel and a mobile number. I contacted Hazel and that was it, my husband had a wonderful place to stay! She accommodated his shift pattern, made him welcome and as so many have said, he thoroughly enjoyed evenings with Hazel and Doreen. I have been lucky enough to meet Hazel and we remain firm firm Facebook friends. Our children can't wait to go to London and stay with Hazel. So, we hope!
"A lovely place to stay!"

A warm welcome, fresh hot meal, and comfy bed! Grove Guest House is THE place to stay in London because it gives you a real taste of being a Londoner for a reasonable price. Traveling is easy with a nearby bus stop, the service is impeccable, and food is great!
"Visiting that cool aunt in London..."

Hazel is an amazing hostess with wonderful stories and fresh food. Sit in her garden, look at the eclectic art she's collected over the years, and enjoy a side of a London that few tourists see. Hazel will bend over backwards to take care of you, and if you are a solo traveler, enjoy having an unexpected companion for breakfast. I will come to London just to visit one day!

I've stayed at Hazels three times and just absolutely love it. Hazels hospitality, friendliness, conversation and warmth would make any stay in London a joy, and combined with her colourful home full of interest, history and family life you just can't fail to be delighted in staying with her. The garden is wonderful, the train station is literally just around the corner, Hazels food is delicious. I couldn't wish for a better host, honestly she is just great!
"I wouldn't stay anywhere else!"

I would echo all the comments on this site. I've stayed often at this B&B and have nothing but the highest praise for Hazel, for comfy bedrooms, excellent food and a colourful garden with foxes, squirrels and birds galore. Guests can get to know each other (if they want to), so some long-term friendships have been forged during stimulating conversations round the dining table. Hazel treats everyone as a member of her (truly amazing!) family, making every visit to Grove Guest House happily unforgettable. A regular visitor to London, I find this a convenient and relaxing resting place to which I will surely return soon. I wouldn't choose to stay anywhere else!

From the second I arrived in Grove House I felt at home. Hazel just has the knack of knowing exactly what her guests need, whether staying for work, leisure, studying or even wedding preparation! The house is so comfy, with enough space to be able to get on quietly with work, and companiable for those who are able to socialise.Hazel's cooking is fantastic, and she is so flexible in responding to any dietary needs. There is a lovely garden - and so many interesting stories to hear. The house is handy for public transport and all sorts to do. This is my favourite place to stay in London - such good value and an unforgettable experience. X

It is very nice to get back from work and be able to relax in a friendly environment. Hazel is very friendly and makes you feel very welcome while being very efficient. The food is great and the rooms very comfortable.
"The best B&B I've ever stayed at"

I knew I was in for a treat when the landlady got right back to me to make sure I had everything I needed to make my trip the best it could be. And it was. From the very cheery and warm welcome and lovely cup of fresh coffee to the wonderful quirky bedroom (and brilliantly comfy bed) to the supreme full English breakfast in the morning. I am going back here again and again. All I can say is thank you for making my stay better than any luxury hotel I've ever stayed in.
"Arrive as strangers, leave as friends"
08/21/14 Qasim C London, United Kingdom
‘Arrive as strangers, leave as friends’, the words written on a note as you enter Grove Guest House, never a truer phrase spoken. The house is big and it takes real character to fill it. Fortunately Hazel is, without a doubt, the best host you are likely to ever know. She has and does, time and time again go out of her way to make you feel comfortable and braced for the challenges London may have to offer. She is old school East End meant in the nicest possible way and is a natural at selfless hospitality.
"True home from home."
08/15/14 Stacey G Penzance, United Kingdom
I arrived late and somewhat frazzled but was soon tucked up in the most comfortable bed in a lovely room full of interesting nick nacks, books and photos. I didn't meet Hazel properly until next morning where it very early became clear that she is a natural hostess. She is warm, friendly, efficient and charming and I can't fault my stay in any way. The station and bus stops are literally up the road so you can be wherever you want in no time at all. There is a plaque on the wall which says something like 'Arrive as guests, leave as friends' and that couldn't be more true. Hazel is a fabulous host and all-round lovely woman. If I could give my stay ten stars I would.
