      Varinda Garden sits on a hill above the tourist-filled beaches of Koh Samui Island and what you give up in near-ness to a beach is more than offset by the solitude, friendly service and unique charm of the resort. You can easily forget about the maddening traffic of motorcycles and cars on the road below. And with a large swimming pool filled with constantly- flowing, warm water, and surrounded by palm trees and tropical plants, who needs a beach anyway. A water slide is at the dividing line of two halves of the pool, and adults seem to enjoy it as much as kids. The decor of the restaurant and surrounding grounds is original and very tasteful -- in a very Thai way. Calling it quirky doesn't quite do it justice, since it all comes together nicely. Family-friendly, I'd love to return with our grandkids some day.

      I had a great stay here for 4 nights in Feb 2013. The beach is wonderful and just a short walk down the hill. The hotel lobby area and restaurant served great cheap food till around 10PM. They also had a wonderful pier/waterfront bar and restaurant which had the same menu but a different view. I had my own bungalow for the equivalent of $40/night with a queen sized bed and my own balcony with a hammock and chair. It was great staying here and if I'm ever in Koh Phangan again I'll be sure to stay here for at least a couple nights.

    Situated on the beach in Koh Samui, PGS Hotel Sandy Resort is close to Bo Phut Beach, Fishermans Village, and Samui Go Kart. Also nearby are Bo Phut Beach Pier and Mae Nam Beach Pier.

    Resort Features.
    This beach resort offers a restaurant. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available in public areas. The staff can provide tour/ticket assistance, wedding services, and limo/town car service. Additional amenities include an outdoor pool, multilingual staff, and barbecue grills. For a surcharge, guests receive transportation including a roundtrip airport shuttle (available on request), an area shuttle, and a shopping center shuttle. Guest parking is complimentary.

    Rooms have garden views. The 68 air-conditioned guestrooms at PGS Hotel Sandy Resort include safes. Beds have Select Comfort mattresses and premium bedding.     We like it here & chose to stay for a second time, & found that they had rapidly improving things since the first time we stayed a few weeks before.... They had added a kettle with complimentary tea & coffee, & a couple of other things. The only drawback is that some of the rooms balcony roofs don't extend extend far enough to protect you from the rain, & as it rained 11 out of 14 days we had to stay inside our room as we would have got soaked if we tried to sit on the balcony!! People seem to enjoy slamming their doors when entering or leaving which is needless as they can be shut quietly....The staff though are fantastic & if you have any problems then Olga the western manageress takes them very seriously & will do everything to rectify them. Although the hotel is away from the main drag you can catch a songthaew(local bus) to Chaweng & Lamai for half the price of a taxi(if you are two people), so it works out ok, & the hotel is right next to the beach so you don't have to move anywhere if you don't want.     We like this hotel very much, so have booked to stay again in a few weeks. The only thing that made us a little uncomfortable was eating lunch at the very quiet restaurant, as all the staff were observing us, I'm also never happy about having to pay extra service & tax at a hotel restaurant, I prefer to leave my own tip, not an enforced one!!     After staying 5or 6 loactions around Thailand, this was the nicest and very reasonably priced. Room was clean and felt secure. Only problem was that it was very quiet and a taxi ride away from the busy places. Not very central but restaurant, beach and rooms lovely.
