"Good Hotel with a lot of Potential"
We had a great time staying at the Tides. It's conveniently right in the middle of everything from shopping to restaurants to the beach. They welcomed us with a cold towel and a nice glass of ice tea. The bathroom was built in a weird way, the shower floor would get wet because one of the bathtub side wasn't covered and it was one of those island bathtubs […] so didn't like the floor getting flooded after every shower. Staff was nice and helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Simple, clean and hospitable staff"
We went for a short family vacation in Boracay and we stayed in Tides Hotel. The experience was amazing. They make things really simple for you. The hotel is equipped with everything that you need to have a comfortable and cozy stay. The rooms are clean and more importantly the staff are warm and very hospitable. "Close to the beach, action"
Hotel was OK. Got it at a discounted rate. Wifi really only works in the common areas. Great location - in middle of D'Mall and a short walk to the beach. Breakfast buffet was nice as well (and included in the price). The only things that were disappointing besides WIFI was the showers - they can easily flood the bathroom if your shower is too long […] and it's only a cold water shower (in spite of what the website says). Overall, a decent stay - had aircon - in Boracay and probably a good choice if the hotel you really wanted to stay at falls through or the price got higher. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The room that i checked into was great for one person, which was perfect for me as I was traveling alone. The only negative was the shower sas no door or curtain so the bathroom got wet when showering. I stayed an extra night so they gave me a new room which was very spacious, but the no hot water for the shower, but when in Boracay who worries so much […] about stuff like that. Hotel is very, very close to the white beach and clubs and sits in the middle of the malls. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Our expectations were too high"
We thought the hotel would be a free standing building right off the beach. It actually shares walls with shopping on a happening foot-street that is a short walk to the beach. This isn't so much the fault I'd the tides as it is Boracay. That's just how it is. This part of the island is packed with people and commerce. There are hotels right on the […] beach but you pay for them. I got the impression from the locals that they could get me a better deal upon arrival at various hotels. We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. A bit dusty, sheets and towels weren't all that white, and overall was a bit disappointing. But you can still walk to the beach in two minutes, the staff was nice, and breakfast included. Not a bad gig but we were expecting a better deal in the Philippines. "Great hotel excellent location"
Staff awesome, great rooftop pool and bar, rooms clean and comfortable perfect location. Fun cool place to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It looks good in pictures that's why i booked it right away. But when we get there the staff are not accommodating, i was offended when the guard who assisted us with our luggage radioed the front desk agent saying "yung room __ punong puno!" And the front desk agent called me asking how many are we in the room, you just cannot do that to a guest. There […] were just four of us in the room that time because two of our friends who are staying at regency prince wanted to see our room at the tides so they dropped by and the staff assumed that they are staying the night! Number one rule in customer service is to not assume and to not make the guest feel that you are suspecting them of something. They made us feel that way. And there's no electric water heater and no complimentary water in the room, the bathroom is so unhygienic, there's no proper drainage, the toilet floor is also the type that doesnt dry up properly, too many chipped paints on the wall, florescent lighting also makes the room less attractive than it is. Breakfast is also very disappointing, too little selection. I am so disappointed with everything. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was nice and located right in the heart of Boracay. I stayed here during the Labor Day holidays and there were a few events held at the rooftop pool and bar and I found it odd that as a guest of the hotel, it was still a requirement to pay for entry to the events being held there. Being asked to pay entry for the rooftop pool seemed unreasonable […] since the pool is a hotel facility. I hope the hotel considers changing this policy in the future otherwise I'll just stay at another hotel where i dont have to put up with the noise coming from the party upstairs which I have to pay extra to attend. "Close to the beach"
We thought that the hotel was beach front but it was just close to the beach. It was thou in front of the shops and restaurants of D'mall ( basically inside it ) They have a pool upstairs and gym. "Good hotel but not Great"
Great welcoming to the hotel. Fresh cool towel to refresh yourself from the humidity and heat with a glass of ice tea. Staff is friendly, but the hotel lacked the extra vibe of other hotels. Also lacked hot water at times which was very disappointing. Laundry service is very expensive. This service cost more than 10x more from a laundry mat on the island. […] This is extortion rates. Found lots of hair around the room on arrival. Sand on the floor, staff didn't replace dirty towels on ground or bath mat. The little things mattered and these were overlooked numerous times which was disappointing. Airport transfer from Caticlan to the Tides is 4 times as much as local services. Absolute rip off. I understand the hotel needs to make some money, but this is ridiculous. Local transfer services was efficient and great and I'm sure the hotel was very similar services. Can't justify the price difference. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Re: Unforgetable stay in Boracay"
Tides is conveniently located within D'mall, and walking distance to the beach. Nice cosy rooms, but they are doing some kind of upgrading maintance that's why it is noisy outside in the daytime, and dusty. I love the rooms but try not to take room 101 because cannot connect wifi. They are also mosquitoes on first floor. I am very grateful to the staff, […] as they helped me and brought me to the doctor when I got food poisoning. As soon as I told them i need a doctor, they prepared a wheelchair and send me there within 10mins. I will not forget the warm hospitality during my stay there, 100 points go to the staff there. "Okay rooms. Very noisy."
07/19/14 Andrew M Edmonton, Canada
First, the bad: There is little to no sound insulation between the rooms and common areas. If someone in the hallway sneezes, you'll know it. Which makes Saturday nights a drag, when dance music is pumping like crazy. Room wifi, though connection is 5/5, cannot withstand the heavy load. My wife and I couldn't even check emails at times, even if my connection was strong. The good: Staff are very friendly and professional. They went above and beyond for me twice, granting me free printing and scanning, as well as assistance with my infant son at one time. The three PCs in the lobby are fast. The room itself, apart from thin walls, is adequately equipped. They were gracious enough to grant us an early breakfast since our flight was to leave early, which is huge. Mattress is mostly firm, which I enjoyed. Beach is a 2 minute walk away, but it's far too busy and crowded for me to enjoy. Your mileage may vary.
"Worst Hotel experience ever"
07/15/14 lester l Walnut, California
I had a total of 127 bed bugs bites in my 5 day stay. Here is my story. My family and I flew in from California for our yearly Philippine vacation. We stayed at The Tides from July 9th-July13th- the 1st worst experience in our 5 returns to Boracay. We were checked in rooms 323 and 321. On July 10th I woke up with 11 bed bug bites, 3 on my left arm and 8 on my right arm. The same night I took off my sheets and left it on the ground to request an exchange because it was previously dirty and stained. When I returned to my hotel room, I shockingly found the same sheets put on the bed, and I knew so because it had the same stains and were now wrinkled. I requested a change for a room and had moved into room 211. This night, even more bed bugs had bit me all over my arms. I had counted 64 bed bug bites, 17 on my left arm and 47 on my right arm. I did not sleep for 2 nights. When we told the manager JD/ front desk, he told me that he couldn’t do anything about it and said that there are 2 fumigations per 2 months. This has clearly not solved the problem. He gave my family a stuck up attitude, gave no solution to the problem and dismissed us without admitting that this was a bed bug infestation. On the flight going back to manila, I met other guests of the tides who were also bitten by bed bugs but had to dismiss their complaints because they were “friends with the owner” and were “staying for free.” As soon as I returned to manila, I was rushed to the dermatologist because the bites started to boil, enlarge and burn. The dermatologist confirmed – Bed bug bites infestation.

Website photos are far from what the rooms look like. I was a bit hesitant to book this hotel given that it does not have a beach front view and is not in station1. But upon checking the website photos and reviews, I thought to myself, I'd give this a try. But to my dismay, the room was one of the dirtiest yet most expensive I've been in the Philippines. Went there Dec. 20, 2013, before the peak season and the room was not properly maintained. The wall papers have dirt stains. The bed have hair strands and you can see ants marching by the headboard. Worse, there are cigarette stains/buds on the bedside table and the telephone has very dirty/ sticker number buttons! I quickly dialed the concierge (via the yucky phone) to transfer me to another room, which I was hoping would answer all my concerns. Unfortunately, they transferred me to a room with the same condition and this time with lots of mosquitoes. My friend and I woke up with mosquito bites on our faces! This is really not a luxury nor a first class hotel. For the same price I would've opted for another hotel in the island with beach front experience.

Hotel is overall nice. with big room we got ourselves. The tides is location at station 2. Hotel is being surrounded by restaurants. You need not worry that you are not able to get food. a few more steps you get to the beach. Stay at the tide they give us 20% off bill for 1 cafe located along the beach. & complimentary cocktail drinks at solstice their rooftop bar. For water activity you could get the hotel to introduce and give you the price list.

Been going to Boracay for 10 years straight. I'd like to think of myself as a Boracay expert in my own right. First of all, every hotel is different. Always manage your expectations. Each Boracay hotel caters to different kinds of travelers. The Tides is perfect for: Young adults wanting to party and have a good time It's a party hotel. Don't go if you want a quiet place. It's right smack in the middle of D'Mall--perfect for people who want to be in D'Mall Love their Sun Deck. This is our go-to place for Cocktail, Happy Hours. We had our cocktails here during our wedding in Boracay.

This is our 2nd time staying at The Tides. Love the refreshing towelettes to help you freshen up plus the welcome drinks. Upon check in you are also given the password for free wifi and coupons for complimentary cocktail drinks at their bar (Solstice). A day before our scheduled check-in, we walked in and booked their Exceptional Room (2 Queen beds which we don't need) because it's the only room available as per the reception. When we arrived for check-in the next day, we were told that the Exceptional Room is no longer available due to some problems so they offered us the Essential Room (king bed, our initial preference). They gave us the option to consume the difference due to the downgrade or they'll just issue a refund upon check-out. To compensate for our trouble, we were given free massages. A choice of 15 minute back massage or foot massage. We were happy on how things turned out. Unfortunately, I have to point out that reservation is quite not precise. This 2nd time which thankfully turned out better for us is ok. But our 1st time (Nov 2013, anniversary), they cannot give us the king bed we requested 9 months ahead! We were asked to wait a long time before they were able to provide the requested room after we got mad. So all in all, we love the tides quirky and modern ambience and the great location but bookings and organization needs a bit of improvement in my view.

"Not coming back"
04/18/14 cherryalu Manila, Philippines
I'm normally not very picky when it comes to hotels, but i do put a huge weight on value for money. It doesn't have to be fancy as long as the basics are there. For The Tides, however, i was extremely disappointed because even basic things such as having strong water in the shower wasn't covered. The water flowing from the shower was so little, that it automatically switches to the bottom faucet (the one for washing feet) on its own, because the water pressure was not strong enough to sustain the shower. Not only that, but the water goes from hot to cold to hot to cold while you shower. The only strong water was in the wash basin, but even that was annoying because it's too strong (or the basin too shallow) that you wet yourself while washing your hands. For a hotel that charges P8,000 per night, i definitely expected so much more. Even the cheaper b&bs i've stayed in at Boracay offered a better shower experience. The beds were also a bit too hard for a hotel to have. They're lucky i'm here for work and not paying out of my own pocket. But i'm definitely not coming back again.

I have stayed in Tides in May 2013. Better late than never I thought, and hence the review. I am 100% satisfied with my stay at Tides. I booked a standard room and it is totally worth the money i paid. The roof deck offers a great view with the pool, cabanas and Solstice Bar. The complimentary spa treatment is good. The location is just perfect for first timers. It is right in the center of station 2, very close to D'Mall, restaurants, bars, shopping area and the white sand beach. You can't find for a better location if you are looking for a place to stay right in the heart of Boracay!
"Good location, horribly maintained"
03/21/14 Jessica B
We stayed for 3 nights in March 2014, rooms had very basic amenities which we expected, however the room reecked of mold/mildew coming mostly from bathroom and sink drain (sink is located outside of restroom). I gaged over that sink each time I brushed my teeth. Heavy black mold growing in the shower and around sink drain (thick enough to scrape off with my fingernail if I wanted). Toilet bowl hasn't had a brush to it in sometime evident by the brown layer forming at the bottom. Sheets weren't changed daily and were extremely itchy, I had a hard time falling asleep at night despite dusting off the bed nightly. Aircon was leaking, wallpaper fading, larger and multiple stains on walls and curtains. Loud music til 3am (it's a small hotel so the bass will carry to each corner). Customer service is mediocre, very blah. You have to pay for beach towels P50 ($1.10) per towel per day. The only great thing is the central location within D'mall and 1 complimentary water bottle per person per day. Oh and they do give you a new bath towel everyday which surprised me.
