"Basic but comfortable and good value"
I've just come back from a two week stay with my husband. The apartment was no-frills but spacious and the beds comfortable. The kitchen facilities were again basic but modern and clean - the bathroom facilities were a bit worn down but again clean. Being out of season we paid a very reasonable rate and the hotel had few guests, however on days when […] there were guests staying nearby we could hear quite a lot through the walls, so not a good choice for those seeking a quiet break over the summer with people coming back at all hours. Finally, the hotel was in an ideal location for the beach and nightlife but with little noise from the streets outside, don't expect a sea view though! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The place was not so clean and the service was not so good. The staff was friendly and the pool is a bit dirty. The position of the apartmartment is perfert for night life. If you are young, all the problems are secundary.

I booked a surprise weekend away for my wife in October to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Transfer driver could not speak English & dropped us off in main road, whilst gesturing that we should ask in a shop as to where the APARTMENTS!!!!! were. After trying 3 shops & various passersby's we were overheard by the owners of a dive shop who directed us to go up a long flight of steps & turn right at the top. We arrived at reception only to find that we had to pay 5 euro a day each for some form of payment to the government, then 100 euros for a deposit when we complained that these extra payments were not advertised on the website, the receptionist just shrugged her shoulders & said it was the norm for all apartments in Costa Brava if we did not pay we could not stay. My wife left her credit card details & we where shown to our APARTMENT!!!!! which was DOWN 3 floors. We were told we had to clean it ourselves & take the rubbish outside the front of the building. We were horrified to find it was a studio, the room was awful, the mattress was foam & not comfortable at all, we had to get towels from reception & buy toilet rolls. whenever we used the shower it flooded the hallway. we had a look at the rooftop POOL, it was little more than a bathtub. apart from that Lloret de Mar is a very nice place with a nice beach & some good places to eat

very basic you get what you pay for apart from towels!! had an enjoyable 3 day stay in lloret but dont think i would stay at monjardi again the pool was more of a puddle had to clean the apartment myself and take my own rubbish out apart from that it was just a bed for the 3 nights
"Couldn't stay here."
Got to the hotel to be told we had no booking. After an hour of talking to the security guard(there was no receptionist on duty) and having to pay €120 we were finally given a room which looked like it hadn't been used for months. The security guard laughed as he showed us in and swiftly vanished. It was underground about 3 floors through a maze of corridors with an awful smell, only had 2 beds for the 3 of us, no sheets on heavily stained bedding, the floor was covered in dead flies and when one girl used the toilet the water it filled with was brown, as was what came from the tap when she went to wash her hands. This was obviously not good enough but going after the security guard only seconds later to change room, there was no trace of him anywhere and the reception was locked up. This left 3 young females wandering the streets looking for an alternative hotel at 3 am. All other hotels saying they were booked up which left us without a room on our first night . We then managed to book alternative accommodation for the rest of our stay. We had to go back to the hotel the following day to retrieve the €120 and the receptionist seemed horrified herself that we had been given that room and us saying that the security guard made us feel very uneasy and unsafe (although she didn't seem to surprised by this ). She could not find our booking on the system either. Had they had a room I would have felt very uneasy staying there as the security guard in particular made each one of us feel very uneasy and the walk to the hotel is small back streets full of groups of men. All I expect is a bed and a shower, and for it to be clean. Monjardi didn't have enough beds, brown running water and was extremely unclean. I would not be paid to stay there!

Stayed there twice, the first time in April was ok, as it is cheap. However certain standards have to be maintained. Second visit we were charged for the sheets! Had to collect them from reception. Full of Nasty loud mouthed French University students, whom attempted to bully other visitors, (ended up having to look after some destressed German lads). The bathroom was joke, second visit, the shower was small and had black mould in it. I bought some cleaning products and cleaned it myself, we never encountered the cleaner!! They also kept 5 Euro from my deposit of 125 Euro, (couldn't be bothered to argue).

After reading the reviews, was quite worried about staying here. As usual, everyone expects a palace for the price of peanuts. The apartments were fine, I would even go as far as to say better than expected for the bargain price we paid. The pool area is fine. Rooms were fine. Apartment smelt a little dusty but not an issue. Staff were friendly. The only thing I would say is that when we arrived we were asked for a 120 deposit per room which we were not made aware of at the time of booking. However we refused to pay this deposit and that was that.

It looks nice on sites, nice location, but for the money it is not worth it, rooms are simply too dirty, with micro organisms visibly living there, unhealthy to stay in, i would not recommend this, air conditioning vent was dirty, stains everywhere......

Booked as was the cheapest place, then read previous reviews and was dreading staying here. Transfer dropped us off on the main strip and couldn't find the apartments for ages. Had to walk up a steep hill to get to the apartments, although steps outside the other side which we used afterwards which were much easier. Lovely staff on reception, nice and clean with a nice bar next to reception. Bar was very cheap, pool area was lovely. Room was much bigger then expected, very clean. Lovely views around hotel and in a nice quiet area, but still only a 5 minute walk from the beach, shops and nightlife. Would definitely stay here again.

This place IS as bad as these reviews say...I was quite prepared to give it a go....we did....unfortunate for me I was taken to hospital with a kidney stone on first day there so avoided it for one night as i was kept in, the staff over this matter were most helpful and friendly, however the room...OMGGGGG the room, was the worst thing I can ever imagine so much so i was going over my life in my head wondering what I was being punished for now!!!! 2 windows in the room both wiuth iron bars, dont have a prob with the iron bars really as it deterrs any breakins as a rule but the view HELL the view was a ped stain wall about 6 ft from our window and that was it....we were on 3rd floor which is underground so it wouldd seem cos every morning i didnt know what the weather was doing until we went up for a coffee (which is lovely if u get the right person make it)....end of the day, WE MOVED to luxury compared to this hovel....location is OK ish but there are LOADS better places for CHEAPER prices....Loret is a lovely place and we will return, albeit to nowhere near Monjardi!
