"Adequate for business trip"
The hotel overall was adequate for my purposes. The location was convenient as I needed to be close to Penn Station. It was mostly comfortable and clean. The following are my only complaints: as we walked from Penn Station we were surprised by the amount of people we saw that looked like addicts. We didn't feel at risk but it wasn't a pleasant walk […] either- we decided to have dinner on the early side so as not to walk back late at night. The staff at the hotel was professional. However, they didn't have any rooms with one king bed as I requested so they changed us to a room with 2 queen beds "at no extra cost"- of course there's no extra cost, that's not what I wanted! 2 queen beds means that if 2 people are sleeping in the bed, one person will have very little room to get out of the bed. But my biggest problem with the room was that the floor in front of the toilet bowl had not been cleaned properly. The rest of the bathroom looked clean, but for some reason they didn't clean there, or they swept but didn't mop. Other than that the hotel was fine and if I had to go back to that area I would consider it again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Parking is horrible."
The Good: Clean rooms, upgraded features, barely no traffic, cool lobby, friendly staff, good snacks, good gym, good coffee and good security guards. The bad: overpriced rooms, not enough towels, no valet parking, you will have to park yourself at a rate of $21 a night and is in a building that is behind the hotel with no connection to the hotel. So […] if you check in late night or check out early morning, you will have to walk thru a real dangerous area and tuff neighborhood, Do not carry to much luggage or wear jewerly because it will be a hassle from the parking lot to the hotel and back. No government discount also. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"very close to arena"
we were very pleased with this hotel. we booked an extra night after staying the first night just because it was a very pleasent stay. the staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. breakfast was great on Sat morning. would stay here again. Location isn't the best unless you are use to city shopping […] and crowds. great for events at the arena. add the breakfast to your stay at time of booking it is worth it! "hotel has no direct access to parking lot"
thie hotel is reasonably priced but has some real short comings. No restaurants, only a small counter that serves fast food type meals. Not connected to a parking lot, and no covered area by the main entrance for loading and unloading your luggage. So basically if it is raining you have to load and unload your car in the rain and then park it in the […] parking lot and walk back in the rain to get to the hotel(that is what happened to us). The hotel is within walking distance from the Prudential Center. This is great if you are there to attend an event. But it is not so great when the police blocks all street access to that area during big events(sometimes they use the street as a big parking lot during very big events). We got around that by explaining to the police that we are staying at the hotel and they let us get to the parking lot to park. The hotel does not provide rollaway bed. "it is fire hazard" we were told. Housekeeping is not so great either. We requested extra coffee bags we got extra cream/sugar/stirrer kits instead. after we complained we got a whopping six coffee bags four decaf and only two caffinated. the next day they replaced four used glasses with two clean ones only. The third day they left one of the two dirty glasses on the countertop and replaced only one with clean glass. the fourth day they did not provide a clean plastic ice bag and left the water filled one in the ice box from the night before. "Good location for downtown events"
My stay here was pleasant and comfortable. Parking is a tad expensive but it is convenient. Dining options within the hotel leave much to be desired (more so than any other hotel) but the Starbucks coffee is a nice touch. Everything is new and clean. The fitness center features great machines and free weights.Genuine Expedia guest review
Of course the hotel is nice since its brand new but it's also nice because of the service, decor, and location. I love the location it's close to the Path train station and local bus service. The city of Newark is safe and I love the shopping & restaurants. 4 Stars!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
For the price charged, there were no complimary breakfast. Really not good. Had to search the city for a place to eat, was a pain in the azz.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was great! The neighborhood is being revitalized so not a lot to do within walking distance. But the hotel shuttle does hourly dropoffs at Penn Station Newark and you can take train to NYC. My husband and I walked Ferry Street in Newark, near Penn Station and had a lovely lunch.Genuine Expedia guest review
"New York travel"
It was very good. Its closed the Penn Station Newark-NJ and esier to take the train to go to New York. Me and my sister loved to go to visit NY.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Easy to reach, clean, and well staffed hotel"
This hotel had easy access to the airport and train/public transpiration lines. Quick 30 minute ride to Manhatten/NYC, and a great, helpful staff. If you had plans, it's right next door to the Prudential Center and all those activities. Good stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
For the cost it would have been nice to have complimentary breakfast. Also, due to lack of off street parking a better discount with the parking garage would be a bonus.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel close at prudential center and a short"
Hotel is very nice, modern and clean. Less than a block to prudential center events and walking distance to good restaurants. Love seeing Newark revitalized!Genuine Expedia guest review
I threw my empty cigarette package in the garbage and they charged my CC $225.00 plus tax!!!! I will NEVER stay at this hotel again and will let everyone know they were rude and unprofessional!!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice New Hotel, But Planners Forgot About Drivers"
About the last thing you would expect to find in Newark is a brand-new Marriott Courtyard, but there it is, big as life on Broad Street. I suppose this hotel will go down in history as a pioneer, pushing the frontier of civilization out from the small center-city core into the urban wasteland that Newark has been for the last 40 years. When I arrived, […] there was nowhere to stop, check in and unload. The area in front of the hotel is posted "no parking." Where was the garage? No signs. Turns out it's on a side street, in back of the hotel. But you won't see any signs for "Courtyard Parking." The attendant told me to park i\on the fifth floor. Mind you, the garage was almost empty. The fifth floor of an empty parking garage in Newark at midnight was the last place I wanted to be. But I unloaded, took the elevator down and made the hike to the hotel with my luggage and four cases of photographic equipment. Would have been nice to have a cart, but that was out of the question. I was relieved to get through the door, which has a full-time security guard. The next morning I wasn't going to risk walking several blocks to the train station with my expensive photographic equipment. The hotel shuttle runs only once an hour. So I drove my car to the Hilton and parked in the adjacent garage the next day when I went into New York City. If this hotel can provide a place for newly arriving guests to unload, fix the impractical access to the garage and increase shuttle service, I'd consider s Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very convenient and new"
For whatever reason, there seem to be a lot of negative reviews about this hotel. We decided to stay there because it was close to the PATH train and was offered at an affordable price. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel! First of all is the location. For travelers that have ever had to stay in Newark, one is probably very […] familiar with how confusing the roads are to get to various hotels around Newark Airport. This hotel is right in the middle of Downtown Newark, and is a breeze to get to. There is also a health food store that offers fresh juices next door to the hotel. The PATH train to the World Trade Center is a short walk of about 10 minutes. As for the actual room itself, the beds were very comfortable and well appointed. Both my wife and I sleeped well during our stay. Even though our room faced the street, the noise from the road was barely noticeable. The staff was friendly and accomdating. The only thing that could be improved is the parking. The garage is not directly connected to the hotel, so the process of loading and unloading of luggage is not as smooth as it should be. "Good choice for attending Prudential Center events"
I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It was a great location for the concert that we attended at the Prudential Center. It was just a short walk around the building and we were at the concert. I almost didn't book this hotel because in some of the reviews people complained about noise in the hotel. I didn't have any issues with noise. The hotel […] is located on a very busy street so you will hear some noise but it is not too bad. I never heard any noise from other people in the hotel. We found all of the staff to be very pleasant and willing to assist us. From the two ladies at check in, the young man who brought the extra towels to our room and the front desk clerk who provided advice on places to get breakfast. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Had a pleasant stay. Being right next to the Prudential is very convenient!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband and I stayed here two nights for an event at Prudential Center. It's the perfect location because it's a short walk from the hotel. You do have to park in a parking garage that is not connected to the hotel but again, it's a very short walk to the hotel. One drawback for some may be the $21/ night fee for parking in the parking garage but it […] was worth it for us since it was the most convenient hotel for the event we went to. This hotel is in an older part of the city and the street directly in front of it can be very busy and appear unsafe. However, we had no problems at all. The cops are on top of things it seems. You do hear sirens, as our room was facing the main road but it didn't bother us when sleeping. The place was very clean. The workers were very helpful and friendly and directed us to a great place to eat that was maybe a block away (Dinosaur BBQ). The beds were very comfortable and the linens were spotless. There isn't room service but we had no problem with any long waits down at the little bistro in the hotel. I would definitely stay here again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Place to stay for a short stay"
Great Hotel, friendly staff, clean rooms. The old drawn back was, the walls were paper thin, you could hear call conversations from the next room. When I called to make reservations inquired if parking was free. Customer Service placed me on hold then was told no charged for parking. Upon checking in the cost of parking was $21.00. I advise the front […] desk attendant that I was told parking was free. Her response was" I have to pay for parking and I work her." Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Nice clean facilities very friendly and helpfiul staff. Only complaint is that the bed was too soft and made my back hurt. Better resturant would be a nice improvement also.Genuine Expedia guest review
Wonderful! Just around the corner from the Prudential Center and only blocks from the train into NYC! It was a super hotel with friendly, helpful staff, large gym area, and clean facilities. "Nice hotel but bring your own breakfast."
This is a brand new hotel. Beds are super comfy.Bathroom was spotless. Staff was helpful and friendly. We needed extra towels and the young man who brought them was pleasant and accommodating. Remember you are in a city and Newark is a busy one. I was awakened by sirens at least 11 times during the night. I stopped counting after that. Perhaps one […] might wish to ask for a room not on the Broad Street side. Also, try to avoid the bistro at the morning rush. Their staff is pleasant but inept. They don't have an effective system of service down and the manager hasn't learned how to step in when her staff is slammed. The cook was slow and not well versed at stepping it up a notch. I hope it will come with time, but for the meantime, bring your own bagel and make coffee in your room. It took us over 35 minutes to get ours. Having said that, this is a nice, clean hotel that is very conveniently located to the Prudential Center. I would stay here again without any hesitation at all. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Prudential center concert"
Our stay at this hotel was amazing. Sign in was simple and quick. We had a great room to stay in and were able to get to and from Prudential center completely fine even though we'd never been before. It was a bummer that we had to pay for parking additionally, but thats because the hotel doesn't have their own lot, but it wasn't too much I guess ($20/night). […] It was a little annoying that the window couldn't be opened. They had air conditioner in case it got warm, but there's nothing better than a cool breeze coming from the window. Anyway, would DEFINITELY tell everyone that's going to a prudential center event that this is the place to go. My boyfriend and I were completely drunk and we managed to find the hotel anyway. Everyone is respectful, you don't have to worry about noise or crazy people. It's secure. There's at least one food place open late at night. Good hotel for quick trips and in and out of Downtown Newark. It seemed like many of the business travelers around me agreed. Close to Newark Penn and thus easy access to Newark Airport and trains to NYC. Good room rate, as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel has onsite dining facilities which was good but a little pricey. Garage is shared by the NJ Devils, which made parking time consuming on game night. Otherwise, a good value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A nice Hotel"
It was comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Based on the hotel location, they should have sound proof windows. Heard everything with room facing Broad Street. Along with every conversation my neighboring rooms had. The parking is horrible, paid $21 a night for parking. I will not visit this hotel again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Prudential Center"
The hotel is close to Prudential Center, few minutes walk. It is new hotel and room was very clean. Other than that there is nothing around the hotel, three restaurants and two were closed at 3:00PM on Saturday and only one was open. Shuttle service is very convenient from airport to hotel. Breakfast was good which was included in our hotel price. Only […] bad thing about the room is we could hear people talk or their TV through the vent which was above the bed. "Best for event at Prudential Center"
If you are going to the Prudential Center you will not find anyplace more convenient- the hotel is connected by a walkway- room was clean and comfortable, staff was polite and accomodating- neighborhood is nothing to write home about however...actually, it is pretty bad.- couldn't even find a place Sunday morning that sold a newspaper!! "Staff may not enforce Hotel polices!"
We had to call down to the front desk twice to complain about the room next door, where the guest was clearly having a party. Finally around Midnight we could get some sleep. I was surprised by this since, I read when we checked in that the Hotel had a policy against parties in the room. This clearly was not enforced by the personnel on staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Much cheaper alternative to Manhattan"
Great hotel & very clean. Only issue I had with my room was that it did not have a fan in the bathroom. Very odd. Also, the neighborhood is not the best and the cab drivers at the train station never wanted to take me to my hotel. I can only speculate that they were waiting for a larger fare. All said, a much cheaper alternative to NYC.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Also a nice place to stay if you're in town for a sporting event at the Prudential Center. There's really nothing in the area, but we did find a nice spot to eat; Dinosaur Ribs. "Hotel with special audio effects"
It was a nice room with one exception. For some reason the wall vent acted as a speaker for some other rooms activity. During the day a person doing business could be heard loud and clear, to include his anger at the person he was talking to. This lasted all day, only to be followed by 2 persons having sex in a very extatic fashion during the night. We […] reported this to the front desk in person. They sent someone from maint. To check it out with no defined result. We were left with the feeling that they really didn't believe our complaint. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Wonderful new hotel with friendly staff. Everything is well kept and clean. My only criticism is lack of some amenities, particularly room service. "Don't stay here if you can avoid it"
Here - need I say more - extremely unfriendly workers, hairs (not head hair either) all around the toilet seat, bathroom floor and shower walls, dried urine at bottom front of toilet bowl, room for 4 people (2 queen sized beds) that had 1 decaf tea bag, 1 regular tea bag, 1 decaf coffee pod, 1 regular coffee pod, and 1 condiment package. REALLY???? […] Try not to stay in at this hotel in Newark - that is my best advice. Hotel would be nice if you could pick it up and move it somewhere else with friendly employees who did their jobs.
