"Good location/not luxury"
No advance arrangements were sent to us regarding entry to the apartments. We were pitiful, standing on the street in the rain, as we negotiated the telephone call to the number listed on the door. The hotelier spent much time blaming Hotels.com for not sharing our e-mail address. We didn't care who was at fault. We just needed to get off the street […] and out of the rain. Finally we got in. The steep stairs led to the hall with the apartment doors. Our door opened to a strip kitchen with 2-person table. Beyond the kitchen was the living room which was more of an alcove. There was a 2-person couch facing a large flat screen TV. Except for a tiny lamp table next to the couch, these were the only pieces of furniture in the room. This would have been easier to accept if the apt had not been billed as "luxury" and if the internet photos had not shown a large living room. From the entry door there was another very steep stairway up to the bedroom and bath. A king size bed was too large for the bedroom so you had to turn sideways to get around the bed and the closet door could open only part way. I managed to get my suitcase into the closet but there was not room for another suitcase in the bedroom. My husband kept his suitcase downstairs in the living room. There was a nice bath. The apartment was clean and bright. The bed and linens were good. The view of Edinburgh roof tops was charming. And the location near the castle and royal mile is great. But the "overselling" of the facility, the unexpectedly tight space, the failure to ensure entry, and a few maintenance issues caused initial disappointment. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great location, really nice place."
The place is fantastic. Location, comfort of bed, quality of everything is fantastic. And so is the service. I had a slight problem with the heating in the place (it wouldn't adjust and it was very hot) and I contacted the office and they got back to me right away with an easy solution! They also gave me great advice on a few other things. The only […] comfort mitigation was about the steps up to the room/bathroom. They are quite steep and big, and I was a little worried about my safety. I reckon 90% of people would have NO worries with them though, and it does mean you have a separate living area to the bathroom and living room, so for a couple or more that's perfect! The location is amazing. You can really walk everywhere, up to the Castle or to the museum or across to Princes St. All very easy! Great coffee shops and restaurants nearby too and a few supermarkets within a three or four minute walk. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Apartment without service"
1. The first time I have to take the room key at another place, not very close to the apartment 2. I did not know or be informed that the key pick up is another place when I make the reservation 3. Nobody clean up the room during my stay 4. Nobody give us new towel or other amenities even the toilet paper.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Your home away from home"

This is a small apartment providing everything you need for a change from a hotel: kitchen and washing facilities. I loved it. Sure, the clothes dryer is not North American standards, as other reviews complain, but use the clothes rack. The stairs are quaint. The stereo with speakers throughout is a nice touch. It is very convenient to walk to The Royal Mile or to the hop on-hop off bus tours in order to get your bearings in the city. Finding the tram stop so close in order to get to the airport when leaving is a big plus. Towel racks would be a nice idea. I loved the convenience of the late check-in (key available in a lock box) and checking out is so simple (leave your key in the box).
"Very good value for money"
In a nutshell: Very good location right on top of princes street, very clean throughout, comfortable beds, facilities were all very good and was also impressed with the shower. Probably good to mention that in the apartment there were stairs to go from the bedroom up to the living room/kitchen, which was a novelty at first but soon got a little annoying. Also got woken up at 6am on a Sunday by a crane opposite the apartment cleaning office windows. Anyone that wants nice views, this place isn't ideal - not many windows other than the ones in the roof. This didn't bother us though as we were out all day exploring Edinburgh. Would definitely recommend this apartment. Really enjoyed out stay.
"Not a "luxury" apartment"

Our stay started very disappointingly as we were left standing on the street in the rain, unable to gain access to the apartment. We phoned the number on the paper tacked to the door. Many expensive international cell phone minutes were spent by the person on the phone, defensively blaming Hotels.com for the fact that Canning Apartments never notified us that the key is kept at an office a mile away. After much to-do, the phone person finally guided us to an apartment building next door where a password lock-box contained a universal key. (Why didn't she guide us to this access initially?) . We were assigned Apartment "C" . The apartment was much, much smaller than the photos on the internet. The kitchen and a alcove-sized living room is on the entry floor. Dangerously steep and narrow stairs lead to a very small landing with the bedroom to one side and the bathroom to the other side. (There is a real risk of a bad fall for someone getting out of bed during the night.) The bedroom was completely filled by the king-size bed, such that the closet door could be opened only part way and the shelves against the wall were largely inaccessible. Because of this, only one suitcase could be stored upstairs. My husband kept his suitcase downstairs in the livingroom. The location of the apartments is great - located on the "Royal mile", walking distance to all the major sites There are several good grocery stores nearby. The apartments were equipted with all the cooking needs one would want for a long stay. The bed and linins were all fine. The view of Edinbugh rooftops from the bedroom window is charming. There were maintenance issues (broken drawer pull, shower fixture difficulties, bedroom TV mounted to the wall in such a way that only one person in the bed could see it) but these would be more easily over-looked if the apartment had not been sold as "luxury". I might stay here again if the price were right, but I would definitely deal directly with the rental agency to hammar out any uncertainty as to the apartment size and access issues.
"Great Location, Great Property!"

I booked this apartment for a few days away in Edinburgh with a friend and don't regret it one bit! We were upgraded to a 3 bedroom apartment, and couldn't believe our luck upon arrival, all the rooms were a good size and the integrated stereo throughout was a big plus. The location is really near the city centre, some nice bars and restaurants and just a short bus away from the zoo! Would have rated 5/5 but for some issues with the heating throughout (It was 50c when we arrived), the tv remote and the cooker, but otherwise it was great!

We decided to go for an apartment rather than a B&B or hotel for a recent visit to Edinburgh and were really delighted with our choice. The location is excellent, being in a (relatively) quiet street in the West End of the city centre, but with everything on the doorstep. We had to collect the keys from the property company's office which is located about a mile from the accommodation, so for anyone who doesn't like a walk, then a taxi would be the best option, but we enjoyed seeing bits of Edinburgh we'd never seen before and didn't find the walk arduous. When leaving, you just drop the keys back into a box at the property so there's no need to go back. I like the split-level arrangement with living room and kitchen on one level and the bedroom and shower room upstairs. One thing about the stairs however-the steps are quite deep and narrow, and there's no carpet, so they're a bit noisy and you have to be careful on them, so maybe not the best option for the elderly or small children. The apartment was well kitted out with everything your needed for self-catering, although other than eating breakfast there, we ate out most of the time. There are restaurants and bars aplenty within close proximity, so you're spoiled for choice really. We would definitely go back to these apartments if visiting Edinburgh, although there were a few minor annoyances (the living room door was very squeaky), but in terms of location, value and facilities, these apartments tick all the boxes.

fantastic location, 5 minutes walk from the castle and the grassmarket, 3 minutes walk from the west end of princes street in the other direction, quiet, well appointed, spacious, clean, friendly staff, easy access to keys for late check-in, retaining the address for our next trip to edinburgh
"Awesome little cosy flat"

Great place in the center of Edimbourgh! We were 4 friends visiting Edimbourgh (and the Highlands! do not miss that!) and this place is well-located, nice, clean and well-equipped (wifi, music station, good bed, kitchen)
"The place is terrific!"

Very good price for being on the tail-end of Edinburgh Festival. You pick up the keys in another spot, but even though I had a fair bit of luggage the process was actually pretty easy. Up a few flights of stairs, but again I found that fairly easy. The flat is great. I was here for three nights and found it brilliant. The flat I was in is split level, so the bedroom and bathroom upstairs and the kitchen and lounge downstairs. The stairs were the only thing I wasn't crazy about as they were pretty big and a bit steep, probably wouldn't recommend it for small kids or elderly people with mobility issues (or drunk people!), but everything else was spot on. Great location, just a stone's throw from everything that a tourist wants to see, very close to good coffee and restaurants. Comfortable bed, great kitchen (well kitted out with a washer/dryer), comfy lounge, great bathroom. The internet was great, very reliable. TV was terrific, quiet and safe area. I had a slight problem with the heating system (I couldn't work out how to turn it off), the people at the office were really attentive and got on it right away and explained it to me! The service generally was very easy and they were really helpful... I had a fair bit of luggage and had to store it for the day and they were happy to accommodate! I would definitely recommend it for any length of time.

Stayed here for the weekend, apartments are excellent, very nicely done out. We had a 3 bedroomed so was a duplex apartment, very spacious and everything you would need, including washer & dish washer. 2 good bathrooms and a very good manual given in the apartments on how everything works. Street it is located on is slightly tucked away, but once you get your bearings it is very easy to get about. Only a few minutes walk from Haymarket station & a 5 minute taxi ride to Waverley. Morrison street is close by and has some excellent restaurants there very good variety. Would stay here again, nice quiet location so you get a good nights sleep as well.
