"Great Hotel near Phuket airport"
Overnight stay before our flight to Bangkok. This hotel is 10km (6 miles) from the airport and offers a car to the airport for $15 US. The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant has a large selection of excellent food. The room was well decorated and well laid out with a large closet and a very comfortable bed. We enjoyed our 1 night stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A true paradise for sports fanatics"
The tag line of Thanyapura is "train in Paradise" so as a sports fanatic I was coming to thanyapura with high expectations. The experience we had over there was absolutely fantastic. Thanyapura is like a hidden paradise for sports fanatic. It offers world-class sports facilities and you feel inspired training amongst professional athletes but you can […] also enjoy the very peaceful environment of the place. My girlfriend is not Sport mad like me but still, she didn't want to leave neither. Besides the wow sport factor, the services was great, the food at Divine restaurant was amazing and the Sport Hotel was very enjoyable. Also, the place was not packed so we really felt like being in a world-class exclusive country club. Prices are higher than the typical Thai resort however it's totally reasonable for the level of experience you will get. We can't wait to go back there and hopefully for longer this time... "I want to go back"
Amazing place to stay if you want to escape the craziness of Patong and the tourist beaches. The food is delicious and the staff exceptional. The sports facilities are superb too. We even got to see the Dutch national swimming team train. Thoroughly recommended!Genuine Expedia guest review

Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I stayed at Thanyapura for a week on a meditation retreat. The facilities were great and the staff across the complex couldn't be more friendly and always helpful. As part of our retreat we could use the gym facilities but the spa was extra. We also had as part of our package the buffet (breakfast, lunch and dinner) in the Divine restaurant which catered for all tastes and was very good everyday. We stayed in the garden wing, which was a short walk from the hotel reception and in a slightly quieter part of the complex, the rooms were a great size and are all on the ground floor so you have a small patio with table and chairs to sit out on. I would say that the majority of people who stay at Thanyapura come to use the sports facilities. There is both a full size olympic pool as well as half size which were being used constantly while we were there by about 3 different swimming teams, There are also indoor and outdoor tennis courts as well as an athletic ground. If you are looking to focus on training this is the hotel for you. I would suggest you look at other areas of Phuket if you are trying to get a feel for Thailand or it's culture or you are looking for a beach holiday, although you can get to the beach from here but it's about a 15 minute taxi ride.
"Holiday at Thanyapura"

I recently stayed at Thanyapura for 10 days. I booked through an Australian travel company. I was looking for a tennis/fitness orientated holiday and Thanyapura certainly offers that.I booked a 'Fusion' package and this was mainly tennis orientated with ' 1 on 1 coaching' sessions.' Overall it was 8/10 for me. Great service - I can't say enough about the hospitality and friendliness of the people working there. The facilities are very good: tennis courts are indoor and outdoor( flexipave). I met some very nice people from different countries and was able to arrange games with them also.I was surprised that I had to pay extra if I personally wanted to book a court to play someone - I should have checked that out before I left. I used the weights room and cardio rooms daily and they were of very good standard. I was surprised that I was unable to used the spa without paying extra. I should have checked that also. The food was very good - I prepaid for 3 meals a day using the buffet as opposed to A la Carte. No complaints regarding the food - plenty of healthy options (and tempting not so healthy options). I would point out that when it comes to food I am a person that eat everything and I am not selective etc. Thanyapura is seriously isolated from places to go out shopping or for dinner - for example Patong is 45-60 mins away. There is a Pool bar and a 'Booster Bar' onsite - they weren't busy at all. Whilst I was staying there was an Olympic Swimming team (s) there and I attempted to use the gym facilities etc when they weren't using them. I came to Thanyapura to relax and work on my fitness (and my tennis)and this is a very suitable place to do exactly that.
"Great resort for an active holiday"
02/15/15 Jofish66 Newcastle, Australia
We booked this so my husband could do some triathlon training (and holiday). We travelled with our two sons, aged 8 and 11 years old. Originally we booked the Garden Wing (reading it was quieter and recommended for families and we were due to arrive New Years Eve). A few weeks before, we were advised they could not accommodate us in the Garden Suite and we'd been upgraded to the Pool Wing in two rooms. (I did request the rooms be adjoining, since our children were young). Upon arrival, we'd been put into two regular rooms (not connecting door), but the shift manager apologies and said they'd be able to move us next day. They did - and having looked later at the Garden Wing, we truly appreciated the move! The Pool Wing is lovely, the kids opened their door and looked straight out to the pool. It wasn't that noisy either - so the rooms are very well built (the only sound we ever heard was a chair in the room above). We had ground floor rooms, and recommend these, as your windows open out onto a small grassed area (laundry drying rack provided - great idea for a sporting place!) Facilities - we had breakfast included and it was always excellent, catering for western, asian and more European styles. Couldn't fault it! Dinner - you can order a-la carte or buffet (the buffet was never fantastic), and obviously, eating in is dearer than if you were in town, an dif staying here a week or more, it does get a little monotonous. Lunch - either at the restaurant (or the coffee shop - some sandwiches and a few pastries). Many reviewers mention the location - and we were aware it was a little isolated and NOT near the beach. I'd recommend hiring a car for at least part of your stay, as even though we were there to use the facilities, you are a little "trapped" (and yes, taxi and transfer services are dear). Sports complex located within the grounds - so a couple of minute walk to great pools, 50m and 25 m (plus the separate huge pool in the Pool Wing of the actual hotel). Excellent tennis courts, running track, studios, gyms, spin studio, etc. I did one group fitness class and it was excellent. The trainer catered for a wide variety of fitness in the clients who turned up (we had particular group classes included in our stay). I wish I'd managed to do more classes! All staff from reception, to housekeeping and waiters and sports staff were really good, and always helpful. Our only criticism is the pool bar was very limited... drinks list, but could really do with being more equipped to offer light lunches etc. Apart form that - we were very happy with our stay and would recommend it to anyone after an active holiday.

"Pleasantly surprised - will be back, for sure!"
My husband and I stayed at Thanyapura for almost a week. Initially the trip was mainly for him training for his upcoming triathlons. Honestly, I had a very low expectation of this place and thought my Phuket experience would be boring as I would need to wait around for him to finish training before being able to venture around Phuket. I was pleasantly surprised to see the world class sports facilities, group activities, and highly qualified trainers Thanyapura has to offer. Not only that we both ended up participating in their free group activities/classes, we both did one-on-one sessions with renown athletes and coaches. Foods were amazing as well - healthy and tasty. We initially planned to hang out at the beach at least a few times that week, but we had too much fun at Thanyapura that we ended up staying at the resort the entire time, as beach access isn't the easiest from the resort. We stayed in one of their suites, which was simple but cozy, clean, and spacious. Room ACs are very cold - just to my liking. My suggestion would be to have more frequent shuttles to the beach. If only there was a direct beach access, this place would be even more amazing. Don't get me wrong, Thanyapura is amazing as it is. My husband and I would totally come back! Special thanks to Jurgen Zack (triathlon legend and senior coach), Miguel Alvarado (swimming head coach), Ben Hammond (bike doctor and triathlon coach), and L (front desk) for making our Phuket experience simply the best.
"lots of water problems"
02/10/15 mary w Seoul, South Korea
They turned off the water twice and one time the cold water was shut of which I found out after I attempted to shower. The solution for the water being turned off was to shower at the sports complex and when there was no cold water they gave me a key to another room but did not have me move rooms. The sports complex is great but the hotel is not. Location wise it is isolated and they charge 500baht to go to the town. The restaurant is good though.

Transportation: Super bad. Far away from town, without free shuttle bus services, call hotel taxi is expensive, not worth. hotel near airport, just about 10~15mins, but the taxi fee is also much expensive vs tranport to town. Services: Bad. I booked 2 kings size room with my family together, but hotel arrange our room super far away. How come 1 booking could do such arrangement and the hotel staff said we didnt request. Really cant understand their standard of services. Environment: Ok. nice outskirt, enjoy trees, blue sky, wind if u like that. All sports facilities are need extra charges. Overall: 1 times is enough.
"A very good sports hotel"
01/27/15 Roman S Moscow, Moscow City, Russia
I came here in December 2014 for 4 days of tennis training - I think it's a very good hotel with sports facilities: 1) good infrastructure: 2 swimming pools, 6 tennis courts (including 4 indoor courts), gym 2) highly qualified trainers (special thanks to Mr Roger Cochrane, tennis program director 3) modern and clean rooms in the hotel 4) extremely good service (like nowhere else in Thailand) 5) good food in the restaurant I'd recommend you to buy a package and come here for a week or so to train.

Excellent facilities, excellent restaurant, competent and friendly staff. I highly recommend Thanyapura Sports Hotel. If you are after nice relaxation mixed with a couple of exercise sessions per day, this is the place to be!
