"Tulip of Amsterdam, a Blooming Flower of Comfort"
The Tulip of Amsterdam is centrally and conveniently located to the center of the city and all of the major sites we wanted to explore. We liked our room which had a collection of eclectic Dutch themed decor. Our host was friendly and accommodating. She was reliable and made us feel at home. We really appreciated the in-room food supplies and the breakfast […] room had an incredible variety of foods. We recommend the Tulip of Amsterdam without reservation. "First trip to Europe"
This is the first B&B we've ever stayed in and we really enjoyed the house, our room, and our hosts. They were so, so helpful to us in figuring out where we wanted to go in the city and the local areas that were better and safer to visit. They went out of their way to accommodate us. The stairs are definitely narrow and steep. They added a lot of character […] to the history of the hone. (Although, I would never advise my 80 yr old parents to try to use them.). I highly recommend the Tulip of Amsterdam for its hospitality and location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great stay in Amsterdam"
Chris and David offer a warm personal welcome to Amsterdam, and a superb setting to enjoy this great city. Our room was charming and comfy. The self-serve breakfast is great; very generous and accommodates everyone's tastes. Tulip is much more like staying with caring friends who really want you to enjoy their home.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Lovely welcome from staff, very friendly and helpful. Comfortable room, and self service basic breakfastGenuine Expedia guest review
Beautiful B&B situated in old Dutch house in a very central place in Amsterdam. The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast well furnished. But the best quality of this B&B is the very warm hospitality of Chris and David. We feel to be at home of old friends and this is a very good sensation and we highly recommend!! "Charming and perfect B&B"

This was a find by searching on the internet for a B&B in Amsterdam. Great location, charming and clean room and wonderful hosts. The hosts, Chris and David, couldn't have been better. Our room came with breakfast. Although we had to make it ourselves, there was no limit to what we could do since all the ingredients needed for an hearty meal were provided. The gave us great restaurant and sightseeing venue suggestions. In one case, we were meeting some people at a restaurant they did not know so Chris took the time to walk us there to make certain we got to the right place. There is no doubt that we would return here when coming back to Amsterdam as well as recommend the Tulip to friends.
"Not a good choice"

We have stayed at dozens or b&b's in Europe, Canada and the US and this b&b does not measure up well. The owners, Chris and Dave, are very nice and are responsive to requests. Our room the "cloud 9 dutch room" is quite small. The bed was pushed up against the wall so that to exit bed, one person had to shimmy down to the foot of the bed. There are no shelves to use to store clothes. There Is a tiny closet, but most of it is taken up by a small refrigerator. When we arrived, there were only three hangars in the tiny closet, but at our request, Chris added some. Although the room faces away from the.road, it is somewhat noisy until 11 or 12 p.m. because a restaurant is located adjacent to the room and you can hear kitchen noises. The bathroom is quite small. The shower knobs were loose and the toilet seat was partly cracked. Although labeled a B&b, this room does not include breakfast. Instead you are provided very low quality biscuits and crackers wrapped in cellophane and some yoghurt and fruit. The room is so cramped that there is no good place to sit and enjoy breakfast any way because the small table had to be used to place our belongings, so we just went out for breakfast each morning. We had to keep the windows open because the room was warm and mosquitoes were buzzing around all night. Amsterdam has some lovely neighborhoods such as the canal ring and the museum area. The central part of town running from the station, all the way down Dam street, including the Dam Square and south and east of the square ( and of course the red light district) are seedy, dirty and depressing. This b&b borders on the Seedy areas but fortunately is just beyond it. Going south along the canal is nice. But you have to make a detour if you want to avoid the seedy areas when trying to reach the nice areas to the west. Best bet is to find another location well west or south of Dam street.

We spent both my husband's birthday and our 9-year wedding anniversary at Tulip of Amsterdam and were so happy we did. David and Chris are the perfect hosts, offering not only a great room for the price (and spacious to boot!), but also giving guest tons of recommendations for places to enjoy throughout the city. David sent us over to Van Beeren for dinner our first night and we loved it so much we visited again a couple days later. He also gave us a tip on the best canal cruise, The Friendship, which gave us an open air view of the city with a cocktail to sip along the way. Sure beats those glass-enclosed boats we saw throughout our 4 day stay. We loved our stay at Tulip--the large Dutch room was large and Dutch, the guys left us wine and chocolates to celebrate our anniversary/hubby's birthday and they even gave us a tiny pair of clogs as a souvenir. Breakfast was also great--lots of options to choose from and totally self service, which meant we could sleep in as we'd like to! Can't wait to return to Amsterdam and stay at this charming B and B again!
"Best place in the central Amsterdam for a good price!"

LOCATION: Right in the heart of Amsterdam, just a foot step from major sight seeing spots and museums. I've stayed in many european cities and this is that type of spot, where it's central, affordable and easy to walk anywhere and just few meters away from Metro stop. HOSTS: Dave and Chris are the most friendliest hosts that met us with bottle of wine as a welcome gift! What can be better that after long flight you come to your home for next days and being greeted by bottle of wine! Instant win! Small details do count. SAFETY: Super safe and feels like at home. Felt really safe walking back even at night time. Area is full of people and cafes, you always feel surrounded by somebody friendly. CLEANLINESS: To make it short: it was really clean and cozy. Super nice decorations, my girlfriend was talking pics non stop, really loved the kitchen and range of products for the breakfast. PRICE: They say what you pay is what you get. This time I think we got more than we paid for. Clean, cozy, friendly staff, safe and affordable. Rare combination. Definitely would recommend this place for anyone who wanna just enjoy their vacation and feel in Amsterdam like home!
"Outstanding B&B Stay"

My daughter and I stayed in the Large Dutch Room made up into two twin beds. It is an extremely large room equipped with basically anything you could possibly want. Chris and David are the absolute best hosts. They have thought of everything. There is a small fridge in the room filled with all sorts of complimentary drinks. There is a hair dryer and even a hair straightener. The breakfast room is filled with everything from eggs and meat, if you would like to cook, to yogurt, fruit, juices, bread for toast, etc. The location is fairly central for museums and shopping. Amsterdam is small enough that you can walk most anywhere is a half hour at most. In addition, they have an amazing phone app that provides for directions to any of the major sites, great restaurant suggestions with directions, etc., etc. We used it extensively to get from place to place. Overall, we clearly enjoyed our stay, enjoyed Chris and David's hospitality and would recommend The Tulip for anyone visiting Amsterdam.

"Lovely Escapade ;)"
First impression of this place was definitely "Such awesome hosts!". They go all the way making sure that all guests feel righ at home. Making sure facility is clean, food is stocked up and paying close attention to those small details that most places miss out on ;)Talk about local hospitality! Location is really central and view was amazing too. I musy say, nothing but top notch quality over here :)
"2nd stay and we're be back for more!!"
This was our second stay here and it was as good as the 1st time. There's always a warm welcome from Chris and Dave and they are so helpful. The room we had this time (emerald) was spotless and beautifully decorated. I love all the little extras like the hair dryer, straighteners, juice, water and the welcome bottle of wine. The b&b is in a great location and I think value for money for the area it's in. We're defiantly be staying here next time we come back to Amsterdam.
"Perfect base for an Amsterdam city break"
08/11/14 Andrew C Lymm, United Kingdom
My wife and I stayed for 3 nights in August 2014. The Tulip of Amsterdam is an easy 10 mins walk from Central Station and located right in the centre of Amsterdam. The hosts, David and Chris are charming and helpful. The building is 300 years old and also charming and rather quaint. The rooms are well equipped with mini fridge, coffee machine and kettle. Also there were nice touches on arrival such as a bottle of wine, soft drinks and bottled water. Breakfast is great, just help yourself to whatever you want from a well stocked fridge. You can even cook eggs or an omelette if you want. So if you are looking for a really memorable setting for a trip to Amsterdam this is it. If you want a corporate hotel experience with hermetically-sealed plate-glass windows and air con then this is not what you are looking for . But you would never get the service in the big hotel, or the breakfast, or the location or...
