"Nice B&B - Great Location!"
My husband, his cousin, her husband, and I were only in Amsterdam for one day/night and my husband wanted to go to the Red Light District. The B&B was only a few blocks away, which was perfect. The check-in process was easy. David asked about our plans and gave us an overview of the city - super nice guy. Since we were early, the room wasn't ready, but we were able to leave our luggage while we explored. The room we stayed in did not come with breakfast, but there were all sorts of snacks and drinks in our room that we could help ourselves to. I was very thrown off by the staircase to get to our room!! The room itself was comfy and cozy - perfect for the four of us! Don't hesitate to stay here :)

"Tulip of Amsterdam, a Blooming Flower of Comfort"
The Tulip of Amsterdam is centrally and conveniently located to the center of the city and all of the major sites we wanted to explore. We liked our room which had a collection of eclectic Dutch themed decor. Our host was friendly and accommodating. She was reliable and made us feel at home. We really appreciated the in-room food supplies and the breakfast room had an incredible variety of foods. We recommend the Tulip of Amsterdam without reservation.

We were bummed not to get to meet the owners but Nikki was great. Super cute place. Would've like air conditioning as it was so hot the day we were there. Would stay there again!

"Peaceful retreat in an urban center location"
The Tulip is conveniently located within walking distance (pulling a suitcase) from Central Station. It quickly became a retreat for me that provided a quiet and comfortable place to recharge. It is within walking distance of so many amazing parts of Amsterdam and is surrounded by good restaurants and shops. The hosts are the best part. They are warm and friendly and bend over backwards to make the time in Amsterdam rewarding and accessible. I am grateful to have found myself at the Tulip.

The welcome is as warm as the stairs are steep. Very colourful, good eye for detail in the rooms, great self-service breakfast--since only 2 rooms in the main house, almost like being at home. Unless there are 3 of you, not much reason to choose the larger of the 2 rooms. Near train station, about 30 min walk to the main museums.

"First trip to Europe"
This is the first B&B we've ever stayed in and we really enjoyed the house, our room, and our hosts. They were so, so helpful to us in figuring out where we wanted to go in the city and the local areas that were better and safer to visit. They went out of their way to accommodate us. The stairs are definitely narrow and steep. They added a lot of character to the history of the hone. (Although, I would never advise my 80 yr old parents to try to use them.). I highly recommend the Tulip of Amsterdam for its hospitality and location.

"Honeymoon"
We stayed at the Tulip B&B for three nights in August 2013 while in Holland on our honeymoon. The owners were on vacation but the people managing the B&B in their absense were very professional and helpful. We were extremely pleased with the room we had- comfortable bed, nice shower, quiet, spacious and nicely decorated. The coffee and breakfast items stocked in our room were appreciated, as was the bottle of wine that welcomed us. The Niewmarkt area immediately surrounding the B&B is very quaint. There was a great market with flower, fruit, vegetable and cheese vendors just outside our door as well as great cafes, restaurants and shops. It was convenient to the heart of the central city, but a few blocks off the main streets which was very nice! We would happily stay here again and would recommend to others!

"Great stay in Amsterdam"
Chris and David offer a warm personal welcome to Amsterdam, and a superb setting to enjoy this great city. Our room was charming and comfy. The self-serve breakfast is great; very generous and accommodates everyone's tastes. Tulip is much more like staying with caring friends who really want you to enjoy their home.

"Short stay in Hamsterjam"
Stayed for 3 nights with two teenage kids in the Studio Room. Great to stay in a traditional canal house in a great location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Only downside was the early morning wake up call from the fish deliveries next door but I guess if you're seeking local colour you have to take it in whatever form it comes.

"Would recommend..."
We are a young couple who stayed in the double room with ensuite. The room was well equipped and very clean. Breakfast snacks provided were appreciated and we were grateful to have most of the facilities to eat in the room. It is in a very central part of Amsterdam and you can walk pretty much everywhere (to all museums, places of interest etc). Bathroom was nicely renovated and had a good shower head. Bed was comfortable. The only complaint I could think of (and it is really nothing in the scheme of things) was that when people upstairs walked over our main light fixing it rattled!!! Maybe a new light fitting would solve that. We had a most pleasant stay and would definitely stay here again. The owners were friendly and we felt safe, happy and well looked after.

"Super B&B"
This is the best B&B I've ever stayed in! The quality of the room was superb, the friendliness of Chris was great and he done everything to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. The room was immaculate, as was the whole building. And location was great - just 10mins from Centraal Station and a stones-throw away from the Metro. Really superb place - can't recommend highly enough.

"A home away from home"
We had a very nice stay at the Tulip of Amsterdam B&B for 3 nights. We were met by Nikki who was all smiles and very helpful upon our arrival. She gave us a map of the city and came with suggestions of activities for us and answered all our practical questions. We were shown to our loft room on the top floor after climbing a very narrow, windy staircase. Here we found cold drinks and a bottle of wine waiting for us.The room was over 2 floors with a ladder that folded down from the ceiling. There was a bed up there for our daughter to sleep in, so we had some privacy below. Nikki, David and Chris helped us find good restaurants as well as a good hairdresser. They could not have been nicer nor more helpful. The breakfast room was cozy with a big selection of "help yourself" food and drinks, including fresh squeezed orange juice every morning.

"Location great"
04/30/16 Susan M
Proprietors David & Chris were warm and friendly and accommodating. The location was excellent. We rented bikes near by and we were able to go everywhere in the city. The kitchen-dining room for breakfast was equipped with everything that you would want or need to prepare your own breakfast. Food selection for breakfast was excellent. Proprietors were also accommodating to provide special foods that we needed for our particular diet. The room was spacious, and bed comfortable. Although there was no view from the bedroom window, the advantage was that it was quiet from any noise that might come from the street. The original steep stairs to our accommodations added to the charm and fun of living like a local. I loved that! The proprietors handled all the luggage to the room and back down. :)

We loved our brief stay here. David was so helpful, the room was just perfect and quiet (the only 'noise' being church bells and birds). We loved the 'make your own' breakfast approach. Wifi worked great. The location is beyond perfect. Can't say enough. We'll be back!

"Perfect Romantic Anniversary Getaway"
04/01/16 Alison E Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States
This place is a true gem. After reading all of the rave reviews I thought it was too good to be true, but when we arrived it was absolutely perfect. We stayed in Amsterdam for a week to really get to know the city at a leisurely pace, and I booked a B&B in order to stay in a real canal house--I'm so glad we did. Yes, the stairs are crazy, AND that's part of the fun! I would suggest booking the room on the middle level only one flight up if you are worried about steep stairs, but the room on the top level was our favorite because it was our cozy romantic oasis. The rooms are very private because they are on their own level and are separated by a flight of winding stairs--no room right next door like some other B&B's I have stayed in that get awkward if it is a romantic retreat. I think this place has the magic touch because the couple that stayed in it before us got engaged and we were there celebrating 10 years together and it was amazing for reconnecting and rebuilding. I know this sounds silly, but you will feel like Anne and Peter in their secret annex attic meeting place when you climb up to your room at night... This is located right in the middle of the city center yet situated on a quiet canal and we were able to walk to everything we needed. Yes, the red light district is fairly close, but you would never know it because it's across the canal from any crowds or noise, and there are no red windows or anything visible from the entrance or the rooms. There is no canal view from the rooms, they have a garden view instead which is best for no street noise but what is so beautiful is that there is a church tower that rings regularly that is visible from the window over the bed but far enough away not to be annoying. I am missing those ringing sounds so much now that we are back home. Chris and David bent over backwards to make sure that we had everything we needed for our stay. Our room was cleaned and maintained very well (like a fancy hotel) with complimentary water, soda, and beer restocked daily in the fridge (WOW!). There was an espresso maker in the room and downstairs in the breakfast area with complimentary coffees. Chris and David even bought special breakfast food at the store they knew we would like. Breakfast was so good that we wouldn't really get hungry until late afternoon, there was such a great varied selection. We visited many museums, booked a day bus trip to Bruges, and went for several carriage rides. The Keukenhoff flower fields are absolutely gorgeous in the spring and worth a separate trip to Amsterdam just to see the acres of tulips in bloom! We stayed here and booked a bus day trip out to the countryside, perfect mix! I know we will be back here one day. I have been traveling for most of my adult life and this was my favorite trip abroad I have ever taken. Amsterdam is the perfect European city, and this is the place to stay when you visit!

"Brilliant location, hosts and b&b"
03/18/16 MichaelJDean Cambridge, United Kingdom
I went to Amsterdam for a week long city break with my Fiancee (since Amsterdam), we decided to stay at Tulip and what a great decision that was. Tulip is in a brilliant central location (everything is in walking distance for a late 20's couple), the owners David and Chris were great, one of the kindest welcomes I've ever received whilst staying at a b&b, they were also attentive and helpful throughout our stay. The room itself (we had top room) was lovely, spacious and well decorated (definitely felt authentically dutch but modern!) and had all the amenities you need. On the second evening, I proposed to my now fiancee and as a result, Chris and Dave went out of their way to get us a congratulations card and bottle of wine, which was thoroughly appreciated (and consumed). Honestly can't think of a bad word to say! Brilliant B&B.

Everything. Really. Exceptional customer service, super nice sympathy, awesome accommodation, beautiful decoration, nice and rich breakfast, excellent location. This centenary house has been completely designed, modernized and decorated with such a good taste. It completely exceeded my expectations and I couldn't recommend more Tulip of Amsterdam! Awesome experience :) Excellent job David & Chris!

"What more could you need?"
02/21/16 Edward S Norwich, England, United Kingdom
This brilliant little B&B is ideally located in the heart of Amsterdam. Situated an easy 15 minute walk from Central Station (don't ask a taxi to take you, we found from personal experience that it's not worth their while...), Tulip of Amsterdam is situated just off Nieuwmarkt Square where you will find a number of bars, coffeeshops and restaurants. Two minutes walk from the front door and you'll find the Red-light District and Dam Square is just a little further. The location is perfect for exploring the city and chilling out. The B&B is a testament to David and Chris' (the owners) hospitality, both were extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. David greeted us on arrival, offered tea and coffee, talked us through a map of the city and took our bag up the very steep Dutch-staircase to our top-floor room. The room was immaculate, cleaned every day and had everything needed for a short stay; a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival, beer, juice, water refilled every day and 'on-tap' supply of Nespresso were only added bonuses. The self-service breakfast includes a fridge filled with cheeses, hams, eggs, ready-prepared omelette toppings and juices. Fresh fruit, cereals, breads and coffee was also available and is all included in the price of your stay. Breakfast is served until 11am - however, one morning we were running late and still at 11.30 Chris said that breakfast had been left out for us. All-in-all, a perfect B&B in a wonderful city with great hosts who understand it's the little details that will make you want to go back again.

"The perfect Valentine's city break"
02/16/16 Alice R Brighton, England, United Kingdom
We booked a fairly last minute getaway for Valentine's weekend and were incredibly lucky to stumble across Tulip of Amsterdam. The main B&B was fully booked, so we stayed across the canal in Chris & David's other house "Little Tulip" which is just a few minutes' walk away. Although we saw very little of him, David was friendly and the perfect host, welcoming us with a cup of tea and talking us through a map of the city seeing as it was our first time there. We couldn't have asked for a better location: right on the edge of the Red Light District and max. 20 minutes' walk from pretty much everywhere in the city. The house itself is small but perfectly formed, with a narrow spiral staircase leading up to the two floors. We had a small kitchen downstairs where we could cook if we wanted to, and plenty of tea and coffee was provided. Breakfast isn't included at Little Tulip, but we were a stone's throw from plenty of cafés that opened early each morning. I would absolutely, 100% stay here again. Although after reading the fantastic reviews of the main B&B, maybe we'll book with a bit more notice and stay there next time!

"Central location with a personal touch"
02/16/16 Hanamarie Bournemouth, United Kingdom
My fiancée and I stayed at the Tulip between 11-14th February. We initially missed the Tulip and walked too far up the road as the sign on the door is very small however Chris explained the reasons for this. When we arrived we were greeted by Chris who was waiting for us to arrive. Chris offered us drinks and sat with us asking if there was anywhere in particular we wanted to go. He then went through a local map with us and gave us some really useful tips and suggestions (such as which canal boat trip to use which really paid off as it was fab). The accommodation itself is just lovely, it’s fairly compact as you would imagine in a narrow canal house but it is decorated beautifully with tasteful touches throughout, down to the lighting in the room and in the courtyard. When we arrived in our room David & Chris had left a welcome bottle of wine for us and on the day of our checkout they left a lovely note with a box of chocolates. Our room was serviced daily with fresh stroop waffles and drinks replenished. There was complimentary water in the fridge which came in very handy after a long day of walking. The variety of food to choose from in the kitchen was really good. You can make yourself an omelette or boiled egg with all ingredients being ready chopped for you in the fridge. There is also a selection of cereals, yoghurts, fruit, cold meats, cheese, condiments & spreads, breads, pancakes, coffee & tea as well as fruit juices, a blender, a juicer and a microwave. We really couldn’t have asked for anything more. The complimentary toiletries came in handy as I forgot to take my shower gel! Overall The Tulip is a fantastic place to stay. It is so central and only takes a couple of minutes walk to get to all the hustle and bustle. What really makes The Tulip such a great place to stay is the little personal touches by David and Chris, you’re made to feel so welcome and nothing is too much trouble. We would definitely come back again and friends have already booked to come and stay at the Tulip in May. Some additional information if useful is the Italian Piaza restaurant a couple of doors down serves really good food and there is a fab little bar called Kopstootbar just around the corner where you can get good cocktails and listen to chilled out music – worth a visit.

"Great location, lovely room & great hosts."
02/15/16 MichelleMGlasgow Glasgow
We stayed here for 2 nights mid week in February. On arrival around 10pm we were greeted by Chris, who offered us a drink & explained everything we needed to know about the house, keys & breakfast. We were shown to our first floor room up a narrow steep staircase and it was great, comfy bed, very clean, spacious, iron & board, coffee machine, large fridge with a couple of beers & juices & a bottle of wine and glasses, all complimentary which was a nice touch. There is a small courtyard one flight down for smoking or sitting when it's dry out. Unfortunately we didn't make the breakfast hours of 8am-11am but the selection was great, cheeses, yogurts, meats, omelette ingredients, cereals etc, I'm pretty sure they would have been flexible & let us have breakfast after 11am but we didn't ask. We mainly only seen Chris during our stay & he was always helpful if we needed anything, we got a nice box of chocolates and a note in our room the second night, it's small touches like this which add up to the amazing score on TripAdvisor, along with the excellent location(5 minutes walk from bars restaurants metro etc). Upon check out we stored our bags at the B&B as our flight wasn't until 9.30pm that night, we came back around 5pm & Chris let us sit in the foyer for an hour to pass the time before we headed to the airport. We would love to stay again.
