"A brief but pleasant stay"
Although passing through on business, it was nice to stay at a hotel that resembled a well appointed holiday let rather than the hotel norm.Genuine Expedia guest review
"One of the better hotels."
Fantastic room , reasonbly priced food and good service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Everything about the hospitality, rooms and food was great. Thirsk is not necessarily the most beautiful part of Yorkshire, but a good place to stop on your way North.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Left us speechless when we saw the room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Immaculate, good service, clean and friendly, value for money and warm Yorkshire hospitality, thoroughly recommendedGenuine Hotels.com guest review
A great, very modern and well equipped room. A really nice bar and restaurant with great food. Breakfast didn't start until 8am but I was in the area on business so had to leave by 8.00 but they were really accommodating and served me early and it was delicious. I wish I was there for leisure and could have stayed longer!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wonderful hotel and setting"
This hotel is in a beautiful setting very quiet and peaceful - on the edge of the Yorkshire moors and only about 20 miles from York. (you would need a car to get there) the gardens and rooms are great the restaurant is excellant and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. the rooms are fabulous and I wish we had been able to stay longer - I am hoping […] to get back there next year and to stay longer I would thoroughly recommend it. Just an overnight stay BUT Great pub and hotel, friendly helpful staff. Room, bed, bathroom etc perfect. Food wonderful, very clean throughout. Smashing!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a fab room with views looking over the country side. There is a private patio with the room we were given. Unfortunately due to the weather we were unable to put it to use. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable hanging a sofa and chairs. The bathroom is very spacious offering both a bath and walk in showe with the choice of two shower […] heads. Plenty of toiletries are available. Tea and coffee making facilities were excellent with a cafeteire also provided. Fresh milk is also available. The food is excellent. You cannot fault the service all staff extremely attentive and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble and respond to your needs quickly and efficiently. If there is one small criticism there were no face cloths in the bathroom. Breakfast had good choices something even for the most fussy eater. Again the staff at breakfast were professional and polite. Offering more tea/coffee and toast as required. Will define toy be staying again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

I took my girlfriend here for a night after proposing to her that afternoon on nearby Sutton Bank. The pub, with its fantastic rooms is absolutely brilliant. We rooms are spacious and spotless and the view over the landscape is breathtaking. The food in the restaurant is also brilliant. The best element of the carpenters arms is the fantastic staff, who were attentive and genuine. We were greated with a complimentary bottle of fizz to celeberate, and there were numerous occassions where the staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. I cannot thank them enough for all they did. They are a credit to the pub, and the pub is a credit to Yorkshire. Do not hesitate to book here, you will not be disapoointed.

Booked 1 nights stay as a bit of an anniversary treat and from the moment we arrived to when we left, nothing was too much trouble for all the staff. Garden room was beautiful with all the mod cons. I reserved evening meal which was absolutely devine and enjoyed by both me and the Mrs. Great little get away in tranquil surroundings, can't recommend enough, will definitely be making a return trip.

Great location in the Yorkshire countryside. Rooms are built onto the rear of an old inn around a magnificent herb garden. The contemporary finish of the rooms and beautifully appoints made this an outstanding location from which to explore York, Harrogate and the Moors. The deck for summer drinks, the great food and the attentive young staff made our stay a great experience for 3 nights. Excellent value for money.
"A great place to stay in Yorkshire"

Service was first class - welcoming staff with a bottle of bubbly waiting for us upon arrival. This set the scene for a wonderful three nights in sensational rooms that were warm and welcoming. They had wonderful views across the valley with the local church at the back chiming on the hour. The perfumed herb garden out the front was a wonderful welcome in the morning as you walked to the breakfast room. Dinner at the hotel was fabulous with top notch service. This is a great accommodation that is highly recommended for anyone visiting the area.

We went for sunday lunch after a walk for my wifes birthday 2 weeks ago( we had booked a table) and were very dissappointed in the meal, the meal was cold and portions very small. We did advise about it being cold but this was nor taken up.For the high price overall it was very poor value as we had been looking for a quality lunch in the nice surroundings of the Carpenters Arms We have had other meals in the past but would not recomend sunday lunch
"Perfect for a weekend away"

A well run, well decorated pub with rooms. This description doesn't do it justice, the rooms are modern, comfortably furnished with every modern amenity, I would suggest the rooms in the garden are the most comfortable. Great views from the deck next to the dining room. Well cooked food served by first class staff. This is the epitome of what a good pub/restaurant should be like. Nothing was too much trouble, and everything was done with a smile. I hope it won't be too long before I'm there again.
"Still truly wonderful!"

We returned to The Carpenter's Arms recently (a year after our first visit). We were delighted to find that it was still truly wonderful! The gardens had matured and the bathroom products had changed from L'Occitane (a shame) but everything else was of the same high standard. Our wonderful garden room was fabulous, with great views, peaceful and well laid-out - great bed-linen and fresh milk in the fridge - oh and real coffee with a caffetier!! Some of the staff had changed since our last visit but they were just as professional and helpful. Special mention needs to be made of Nathan who was so helpful and went out of his way to provide excellent customer service - he makes great cocktails too!! We shall be returning again next year.
"A gem of a find"

On our way home via Malton- Pickering we came across a sign at the side of the road indicating the Carpenters Arms, so we turned & 2.5 miles down the road we found it, and what a find!!!! We didn't have a starter but both had the Gressingham Duck, it was beautifully served, tender & succulent, with they say gratin potato, I say dauphinois, with spinach & tiny broad beans. For dessert I had the Arctic Roll, it was to die for. Forget the supermarket type, it was nothing like that, it was chocolatey & gorgeous. My hubby had sticky toffee pud. The service is extremely efficient & seemed to run like clockwork. They also have 10 bedrooms. Wish I lived closer. Would recommend it to anyone if in the area.

A stunning pub/hotel with beautiful garden bedrooms; luxurious with incredible attention to detail. Extremely efficient, polite, friendly and helpful staff. Absolutely delicious food in a lovely dining room with views of the garden and the beautiful countryside. We came for 2 nights to celebrate our thirtieth wedding anniversary and wished we could have stayed for a week. We thought it was a lovely gesture when we were given a complimentary glass of 'fizz' with our first evening meal to congratulate us but there was more to come! On the night of our actual anniversary we were presented with a beautiful platter with a delicious lemon pud in the centre and 'Congratulations, 30 years' written round the edge in chocolate! What a treat! We will be recommending this beautiful hotel to all our friends and family and will be returning as soon as we can.

Just got back from a weekend here. Initially when we booked I was concerned about staying in a noisy pub, couldn't be further from the truth. No noise at all in the room. The room was spotless, bathroom was like new. The pub was lovely & food was excellent. Best steak I've had for a long time. Saving the best till last the staff, thanks for making our weekend so pleasant, nothing was too much trouble. Overall excellent the Webb's
