"Comfortable and convenient"
We were fortunate to get a room on a low floor facing the back, so we didn't have to deal with the elevators much, or with the jackhammers that were tearing up the street out front during our stay. Apart from those jackhammers, the location is fantastic, close to transportation and everything in midtown, yet also close to the residential edge of town […] and its neighborhood amenities. Our room and its furnishings were minimalist modern, and everything was clean and in good working order. We appreciated the laptop safe and the USB charging outlet, but would have liked it even more if the room had been equipped with a small refrigerator. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the concierge fixed us up with a limo ride back to the airport for no more than the price of a taxi. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel's ameneties would get me back"
While the room was very small, it was expected considering the price. One suggestion: add a mini refrigerator. The Salvation Taco restaurant and especially the rooftop bar were wonderful, both very chic and hip. The rooftop bar is just below the Chrysler Building. "Great location, trendy, great for partiers :)"
Excellent location in Midtown Manhattan, with all of the modern styling and amenities. Friendly, helpful staff. Smallish rooms, but well-designed and equipped. Rooftop bar is gorgeous. However, the lobby/downstairs bar can be VERY busy and loud, with a real young-ish vibe if you're looking for that. If you need peace and quiet and more luxurious surroundings, […] not the place for you. Nice modern place in a prime location, but may not be for everyone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The Pod Hotel is a nice place to stay at if you want to be around midtown. It is a bit small but as the name goes, it is the Pod. Even though rooms are small the interior has been well designed and structured to allow comfortable living and great use of space. Overall, I have no complaints and had a nice stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Small rooms but clean and comfortable, a good value for the cost. The staff were all great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convient to Grand Central Station"
This place was for a minimalist. It has a bed to rest your head, a small sink and a commode. For the price it was excellent and very clean. I would definitely recommend it if you needed a place to sleep and not want to spend much time in the room. The room also had a desk and outlets for USB and HDMI connect to the TV.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We expected to watch July 4th fireworks from rooftop bar. That is why we booked the hotel. But they rented to private party.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

For what you pay, this place was amazing! Great location, free wifi. No room, but that is what you sacrifice in NYC!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Fun place to stay in NYCGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Room was very small, but good. I took my teenage daughter to NYC for her first time, and the bunk beds just added to the experience of the trip; kinda dorm room style but nicer of course. It was perfect. A great location too. My only complaint was the noise in the lobby every evening. Great to have a popular restaurant/bar but never provided any opportunity […] for my daughter and I to relax and have a meal at the hotel at the end of the day. The Pod 39 Hotel has very small rooms. However it is nice and clean. It is not a hotel for older people nor is It a hotel you would want to take young children. "Great place in a great neighborhood"
Ultra modern and clean. All moderate priced NYC hotels are small. Many are "tired" or even seedy. This place is very new clean and nice. Hotel staff was pleasant. Would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very cool, chic hotel. I felt underdressed as I walked up in jeans and a Polo shirt. Seems more like a club first.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Little room in a big city."
When I first stepped into the hotel, I was expecting much, considering the low prices. But once I stepped into my room, I breathed a sigh of relief. It was small, yet cozy. No frills, but clean. My only complaint was that there was no hot water in the room. Perhaps this is due to the open sliding glass door design, and since the hot water vapors would […] probably mess up the TV. Other than that, it was great. Very good experience overall. If you're travelling alone and don't mind just having a nice bed to sleep in, this is the place for you. Very small rooms...still good hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Lovely place to stay. The queen room was small as expected, but not much smaller than other hotels and very well designed to make the most of the space. My room had a private bathroom, which was spacious and clean and fine for a single occupant. With company, though, it might be an issue because the bathroom walls & door are glass. Not luxurious but […] also not cheap or hostel-like; the place has a fun, modern, well-thought-out vibe. Location can't be beat, few blocks to Grand Central, nice neighborhood with lots of bars & restaurants. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Stayed for 1 night. It was a bunk bed, which was actually cool & the beds were really comfortable. Best feature- the shower. Great location, 2 blocks from Grand Central. "Clean & awesome!"
This was a great hotel- clean, in a good and central location for the price. It had a rooftop bar, which made it even better. The room is compact, but it is NYC, so we were happy with it. A few reviews were concerned with the bathroom because it's a sliding door, but who spends a lot of time in the hotel room anyway? My husband and I didn't have a problem […] with the sliding door bathroom and overall thought the design of the room was pretty cool. Would stay here again when we plan another trip. "Cosy and clean room"
The overall experience was great. Pod 39 is very close to Grand Central/UN/5th Ave, and one can reach various spots. There is also a bar that's connected to the lobby -- in world cup season this might be a big plus.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I have stay here about 2x/month. Excellent hotel and great value. Comfortable compact room. This time I had a bunk bed room which I didn't need, so I had to watch my head! The only very minor drawback is that the lobby and elevators are packed with hordes of (very handsome but noisy) 20-somethings coming in and out of the rooftop bar and lobby restaurant.. "The perfect retreat after a busy day."
Pod 39 was exactly what I needed for a busy extended weekend in the city. I had friends visiting from Ireland and we had very full days of sightseeing, shopping and dining. Returning to Pod 39 each evening was a pleasure. It is very conveniently located away from the hustle and bustle. Only a few blocks from Bryant Park which was our meeting point each […] morning. More than anything else the staff were friendly and the hotel was spotlessly clean. It was also well priced for the city. My new go to place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean, functional and friendly"
The room was very clean and modern, and kudos to the spatial engineer who designed the room! Not an inch of space was wasted and the room, while small, didn't feel cluttered. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and it's just a 5 minute walk to Grand Central Station. I was momentarily concerned when I walked into the hotel on the first evening […] and saw the two adjoining restaurants full of people, but my room on the 11th floor was perfectly quiet and I was able to sleep soundly. "First Stay - Excellent!"
During my first stay at Pod 39 I was very pleased by the hotel service, the room accomodations. The adjacent PlayRoom, Rooftop Lounge and "Salvation Taco" Restaurant were convenient (if pricey for an out-of-towner). An easy bagel and croissant breakfast with tea was lovely (and affordable). The min-room was just right for a stay with my Mom. I took […] the top bunk. She loved the convenient shower and bathroom. Although, not a space for a modest pair, the frosted sliding glass bathroom doors were charming and we were thrilled to discover a view of the Empire State Building, as well as charming nearby rooftops of smaller nearby buildings and little city gardens. The neighborhood provided a local market "D'Agastino", perfect NY Pizza at "Giuseppe's" on Lexington Ave, and a fabulous Israeli Cafe called "Delectica" on 3rd Ave for an unusual and terrific breakfast sandwich, which included a salad with tahini dressing (I'll never see breakfast the same way again, thank you). Hotel staff was incredible at helping with every little detail; from planning for an airport shuttle to hailing a cab to go across town. I am definitely looking forward to my next stay at Pod 39. I recommend it to anyone willing to try something pint-sized, basic and charming! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was very stuffy and did not smell clean. Also the air conditioner was broken and was blowing very hard directly on the bed. I guess you could say the idea of a small less expensive room is good but only if it is clean and dry.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great. Nice bar on top floor and also on main floor. Needed a place to sleep and shower that was clean and not too expensive...this was it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"It's New York"
Unless you're rich, you're not going to get a spacious hotel room in NYC. Pod 39 has at least offered a clean, modern design. We travel light, but I can see people who travel with several large bags having issues stacking their luggage in the room. Biggest issue is the glass-walled bathroom. For some reason, the designers only frosted the first five […] feet of the wall, so there isn't much privacy in the bathroom. Unless you are very intimate with your roommate, might be a good idea to take turns leaving the room while bathroom duties are done. There's a nice rooftop lounge. "Comfy bed, Worst shower"
Overall I like this hotel but the showers (same last 2 stays) are ridiculous. My room had a railhead and handheld. The handheld had no water pressure and the railhead was like a power washer which got the entire bathroom wet...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The desk people and concierges were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are indeed very small as indicated in their ad photos. There really is little space for 2 people and 2 suitcases. Must be a bit agile to get up into the top bunkbed! The entire hotel was very clean. Salvation Taco is a very busy bar/restaurant that occupies the lobby and the top floor. […] So, there is no common space for hotel guests to use for reading and relaxing, other than the very tiny rooms. There also is no access to ice, microwave or refrigerators, which makes it difficult when staying more than a couple of nights. I'd consider staying there again due to location, cleanliness and cost. "Tiny but all the Amenities"
I loved my stay at Pod 39. The location was excellent, walking distance to everything: sites, subway, restaurants, Grand Central, Times Square, 30 Rock, NBC, Radio City - the list goes on and on. The rooftop bar had JUST opened for business the weekend before I arrived and the views were spectacular from the 17th level. Staff was efficient and my room, […] though tiny, had everything I needed to sleep/shower/get ready for my best friend's wedding at City Hall. "Small but efficient"
I just needed a room to crash in while in town for meetings. I had no need for a real desk or luxurious accommodations. This place was spartan but really all I needed, and I slept like a log. Probably would not travel with anyone, as the bathroom is really not private. OK for the shower, a little less so for the toilet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Compact, clever room. Fair value."
My wife and I stayed at Pod 39 in a queen room for an overnight in the city. The room was very attractively designed, nothing fancy but sophisticated design and it gave us what we needed. Bed & sheets were very comfortable. Everything was immaculate, we felt like it was brand new even though it wasn't. Two drawbacks, it felt like it should have been […] less expensive than it was. And because the rooms were so small, when other guests socialized it spilled out into the hall. There were a lot of high school age teens there when we were there so it wasn't very quiet. Super tiny rooms, but beds are comfortable, rooms are quiet, showers are great and they have good toiletry products as well. Not somewhere I'd stay for more than a night or two due to size, but convenient, clean and tidy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I was surprised at walking in the room and noticing how small it really was. There really was not space to feel comfortable in this room. Everything was clumped up, and I did not expect that. "Small but efficient"
I gave comfort a 3 because it is what it is -- tiny, and the beds are a little hard. But the price and the location more than make up for the stateroom-like atmosphere. I got a bunk-bed room this time and probably will go back to a double. Bunk-bed room was just a tad claustrophic for me. Very accessible to major avenues, subway, Penn Station. "All the basics done well for an excellent price"
I made a last-minute booking at the Pod when some plans changed and I needed a clean, safe, central place to sleep for the night. Yes, the room is tiny, but I found it cozy rather than claustrophobic because the furnishings are well-designed in a minimalist style. (Then again, […] I'm a small woman who had one bag - if you're built like an NFL player or have been doing loads of shopping, it will be a tight squeeze.) Incredibly comfortable bed. "Comfy Micro Room In The City"
Having stayed before, I chose Pod 39for its close proximity to GCT. This time we got to see the beautiful rooftop bar and views from it! I can see why there was a crowd waiting to go up... The room, though small, has all the conveniences of a full sized hotel room for a reasonable price and a more than comfortable place to lay your weary body after […] a fantastic tour day! The reception staff are wonderful and accommodating and I appreciate being able to leave luggage after check out. While you may have to walk a bit more, again, the closeness to GCT and onward transport for sites and touring is great.
