Mercure London Greenwich - London

This is the first time I have experienced that the door handle falls off the door on a Hotel. And that was unfortunately just one of many events that proved to me that the owners of this hotel have done everything possible to make it a 4 star hotel by putting lip stick on a pig. I will stay away from Mercure Hotels in the future.

The hotel is ideally placed for all of the tourist sites around Greenwich and the Cutty Sark, both of which are one or two stops away on the DLR (and Deptford Bridge DLR station is just around the corner from the hotel). The hotel itself was well decorated throughout, clean, tidy and the staff were all helpful.

Our Stay with the Hotel was excellent, the welcome we received from the point of arrival to the end of the stay, superb! The location, the accommodation fantastic. I would definitely recommend to a friend and most definitely return. The only downside "the parking", on making the booking I was informed parking was a separate cost however was not informed […] this had to be pre-booked. On arrival the hotel parking was unfortunately fully booked, with very little parking on Catherine Grove, however were fortunate to park in one of the 3 spaces available and pay. The Hotel itself was clean and tidy and the staff were extremely helpful. The location was close to the Underground, although a fair distance away from Central London. It's great for visiting the O2 though.

Hotel overall was good, although I was given a noisy room on 2 occasions and had to be moved each time to the quieter side of the hotel (away from the large air-con units). Hotel was clean and modern, but sometimes felt a little "style over substance".

It only takes a couple of things to mar a hotel visit. The stench of cigarette smoke outside (and then inside) our room - not the hotel's fault, just that of another awful guest. And a somewhat snidey, smirking, unhelpful attitude from one member of staff when we asked how long it would take to get to the O2. It felt like a cowboy builder going: "ooooh, […] you'll be lucky to make it in time." We gave him several goes to provide a useful answer but he seemed to enjoy our worry. We got there 45 minutes early, so this was persumably a prank on his part... which is a weird way to treat guests. Anyway lovely hotel, amazing price, just hope you don't encounter the scruffy student type when you stay. Read more

Very nice hotel, all brand new. Comfortable room and great shower although no bath. Really liked the velour chairs. Excellent choice of tv channels on the flat screen. Excellent hotel, staff friendly and helpful. Handy for O2 Arena and Greenwich museums etc., may be a bit out for central London although we didn't go there. Could do with a bigger car park, we couldn't pre book our space so had to find alternative parking.

I really enjoy staying at this hotel. Although it's new the prices are very competitive. The rooms are plenty enough room for 1 and snug of 2. The decor is stylish and modern. The food is excellent and the service is great. The DLR is 200m away and Greenwich a short walk. All in all, well worth a stay.

Really impressed by the mercure Greenwich. Room was very nice, all things you need are in there with a useful keyboard by which you can control everything in the room. Check in was fast and staff were helpful. It is a bit out of central Lomdon however at this price we didn't mind the extra 20 minute travel time on the tube.

The hotel is generally very pleasant, as was the room. However, we had 2 major issues. First, the heating control in the room did not work and so we were stuck with quite a cold room. In the middle of winter that was not welcome. Second, we were on the first floor, where you might expect to have some sort of view, even if only of the car park. Not so! […] It seems our room was facing the hotel's plant - aircon, who knows what. This meant that not only were we faced with an impenetrable fence, giving the impression we were in a basement, but much worse was the noise of the plant, which was like trying to sleep on board a plane with the constant loud hum of engines all night. It meant we had little or no sleep. Extremely disappointing, given that the rest of the hotel was very nice indeed. I thought that having pointed out these serious issues to the reception staff on check-out, they might at least have offered to reduce the cost of breakfast, but nothing was offered. A poor show for an otherwise good hotel. Needless to say, we won't be going again. Read more

We stayed at the Mercure Greenwich for a two night break to London. The hotel is a very recent conversion ( late 2012) from a police section house. There are still some works being finished off but this doesn't really affect the stay. All the staff we met were keen and helpful. The location is quite close to Deptford Bridge DLR station which does mean […] for some the area will seem a bit "edgey". Greenwich is a 20min easy walk. We drove and were able to park at the hotel. Currently this is FOC but we are told a charge will be introduced soon. The car park is small and as there is no realistic alternative local to the hotel my worry is that you may arrive and there is no space available. Otherwise a great hotel and reasonable alternative to docklands or central London. Read more

Interesting hotel recently opened (formerly an old Metropolitan Police station) handily located near the Deptford Bridge DLR station for Greenwich and Canary Wharf. Beautifully designed and restored old building with some interesting and quirky features retained from its former use. Staff most helpful and friendly, and very keen to provide good customer […] service. The rooms, however, were very small - probably OK for one person but not really big enough for two people with luggage. The bathroom, like the bedroom, was beautifully decorated but not very user-friendly or practical. It had ridiculous impractical square taps in the shower that resulted in you being sprayed with scalding hot or freezing cold water, not enough hooks for your towels etc and a highly impractical glass sliding door. The kettle and hairdryer were located in a section of the room which had no lighting and a couple more electrical points would have been helpful. The room was cold and the heating/air conditioning system was noisy and inefficient and it was hard to control it and the lighting via the TV. The hotel had external parking for about 20 cars - a bonus in London. It also had a nice bar area which served reasonable food as well. The hotel has great potential. Read more

Temperature control of the room was a little problematic, and were told we may have been the first people to sleep in the room, but hotel was superb and good for only having been open a month. Staff great, and they have spent a lot of money to make it comfortable. If you are going to the O2 this would be a great choice. Max 10 minute walk from Greenwich […] station. Vi ble overasket over hvor rent og pen det var på hotellet. Eneste vi kan si noe på var vel at dem hadde problemer med internett. Personellet var hjelpsome og det var noe. Det var en koselig liten hage utenfor hotellet og ikke minst gode forbindeler om man ønsker seg inn i den travle Londons gater.

Min kæreste og jeg var begge meget positivt overraskede over hvor flot eksklusivt både hotellet og værelset var - også selvom vi i forvejen, igennem anmeldelser, var forberedt på at det ville være ret lækkert. Det virkede ikke til at der var sparet nogle steder. Lækre amaturer på badeværelset, ekstrem behagelig seng, dejligt stort tv for enden af sengen […] hvor igennem det bl.a. var muligt at styre ting såsom rummets aircondition, lys mm. Jeg tror de eneste negative ting jeg kan nævne er at udsugningen på badeværelset larmede lidt for meget når den var aktiv, men det var egentlig ikke noget, der generede i længden og at der ingen minibar var (ganske handy til at holde købe-vand og lign. koldt med). Das Hotel liegt nahe einer DLR Station und ist wirklich nah an Canary Warf, London Excel oder der O2 Arena. Das Persoal ist super nett, hilfsbereit und extrem engagiert.
