"Good price for the money"
I usually stay at a different hotel when in HK. But this last weekend, hotel prices were basically doubled because of the Sevens rugby games. The Ibis was one of the most convenient. The Sheung Wan Ibis is on the West side of the city., close to Central and to Hong Kong U. But some distance from all other areas and the subway station is a good five minutes walk. But Sheung Wan is one of the few areas of HK that still have the flavor (and smell) of old HK. The entrance is a bit hidden - look for the Starbuck café. The elevator bank is to the right of entrance. The lobby on the fifth floor. Rooms are small, but new and clean. The hotel would not be my first choice, but for tourists on 'limited' budget, or in a pinch, like last weekend, it is a very good choice.

Harbor view was fantastic and the bed comfy but those were the only two positive aspects. Location a bit removed from any transit. The floor was peeling up outside the bathroom. The shower was the smallest I have ever been in (and I am 5' 2" tall)

"HK Island sized room, however, efficient and cozy."
First time staying at an Ibis and first time staying on the Island. I understand now what they mean that space in hotels is all limited on the Island. We stayed 3 days. Lovely hotel, with very convenient FREE Airport shuttle from HONG KONG STATION, to the hotel. We took it almost every night to get back to the hotel. HK Station is a major transit hub. Room is small however very efficient. You can leave luggage on the window sill to stay out of the way of the room. Clean and cozy. Bathroom, had an interesting layout but it definitely worked. Front of house staff definitely a plus here. Helpful, attentive, courteous, and informative. Read some bad reviews regarding their wi-fi service. It works great. HOWEVER, if you are idle or you step away from network too long you will have to re-connect to the network. But while connected, we had no problems, and signal was very strong. Elevators are definitely a confusing and annoying thing in this building. Five elevators on the guest floors however, only three of them going to the ground floor. Good luck finding one directly to the ground floor. STARBUCKS on the ground floor FTW!

"Great clean hotel in Central district"
Great location, great view of the ferry and Kowloon, clean, clean, clean. New building, 5 elevators. Check-in is on 6th floor! On street with double decker trams, walking distance to Metro blue line, and quick connection to almost anywhere in city. Famous coffee shop right downstairs, around the corner from great shopping area, and a few blocks from famous hong kong "antiques" area where every vendor has identical priceless artifacts. Will definitely stay here again.

"Great choice"
-The hotel is nice and clean and new feeling (they probably renovated recently). -Its pretty spacious for Hong Kong Island downtown area. I've lived in Causeway Bay hotels before and IBIS are bigger than some of those business type hotels. -The location is next to the trams, or you can walk to the MTR for a bit. Not too far from Hong Kong Station & IFC too. -There are free shuttle buses to the hotel from the Airport Express. So if you don't have a lot of luggage, its a great option. I think it comes every 20 min. -Theres a small supermarket behind the hotel in one of the street, there is starbucks on the first floor, and there are convenience stores. So if you do need to get something nearby, quite convenient. -I didn't get the breakfast option. You probably don't need to, there are plenty of breakfast options in HK -You will need to self serve with the luggages. There are push carts available on the first floor.

"Decent hotel"
I'm a no frills person, so this hotel was just right for me. Very comfortable and clean. The nearest MTR station is Sheung Wan, but I could still walk to Central Station. It's also a good excuse to walk from this hotel towards Central Station to pass by the local eateries along the way.

"Great location and would stay again"
The hotel was very modern and clean. Located minutes from the Sheung Wan MTR station and the Macau Ferry Terminal. Ding Ding Trams are steps away from the hotel too. There are many stores and eateries around the area. Starbucks in the lobby was a plus. The area is very busy in the daytime but at night, it's quiet and very safe. We used the free hotel shuttle, H1, from/to Hong Kong Station and the hotel. It came every 20 minutes and the ride was pretty quick. We had the harbor view on the 30th floor and the view was AMAZING! It was nice to wake up to the view and also gaze at the lights at night. I can’t count how many pictures we took just from our room. The room was small but efficient. We had a large suitcase and 2 big backpacks but we were able to utilize all the shelves and the space under the bed to keep things tidy. The shower was a little tight but it wasn't a problem at all. The water pressure was really good. The queen bed was a little too firm to my liking but after walking all day, I had no trouble falling asleep. The room was equipped with a flat panel TV, safe, hotpot, hair dryer, wifi and complimentary water. No iron/board but it was not needed. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We had stored our luggage after we checked out and retrieving them were super quick. We highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

"Good stay for business trip!"
After a controversial cultural experience in Shenzhen/Dongguang, arriving in Hong Kong for the Convention was a relief and more familiar. It was my first IBIS experience and I could not pick on anything below my expectation, good for one on a business trip. Surprisingly satisfying view (at least in my room), laminate floor/no dingy carpet, clean white duvet, compact but functional, close to food choices, amenities near by, walking distance to transportation & transit, just study the area and plan ahead. My Hong Kong experience is getting better every time, my stay was good here!

"Good spot for a weekend trip"
Good hotel for a weekend HK trip, rooms are not too small, they are simple and has mostly what you will need. I got the harbour view room which was quite nice. The only thing about this stay was the inconvenience of getting a taxi downstairs. Its not the easiest because it is next to an intersection and one way streets. Other than that I would recommend it

"nice value hotel on HK island"
ok hotels are expensive in HK island. go to Kowloon if you want cheaper. this place is clean, neat and has a Starbucks in the hotel. easy to get cabs out front. staff is friendly and efficient. the rooms are small and spartan but that's normal for HK. there's plenty of small restaurant options around the hood and 7 Elevens handy. about 3-4 blocks to the Sheung Wan MTR. Airport express (free) bus stops here from Central Station. btw I learned that you can check in for your flight out of HKG at Central Station on the bottom floor and even check your bags! We did this and it worked out great. must be there more than 1.5 hours ahead of flight though. nice train from airport, don't need to use taxis.

"Great value at the border of old/new Hong Kong"
The Ibis HongKong/Central-SheungWan is a great value and just the place to stay for a high quality experience. The staff at the Ibis was extraordinarily helpful, the condition of the hotel was excellent, the breakfast buffet was inexpensive and convenient. This hotel is rated 3-stars. It should be 4-stars. Granted, it is not one of those fancy hotels with mints on the pillow and turndown service. However if you are looking for a no-hastle, comfortable, very-well-kept and not-expensive base of operations to explore Hong Kong, this is your hotel. The Ibis is not located in the central business district - it is located where the new Hong Kong intersects the old Hong Kong. There are a few skyscrapers in the neighborhood near the water, but otherwise it is old Hong Kong. For example, on the corner of the Ibis, there are two traditional Chinese medicine shops, and the back-streets have traditional neighborhood shops (not stock brokers). From a logistics standpoint, the Ibis is good - not fantastic but good. The nearest MTR (subway) station is about an 8-10 minute walk. The Shun Tak Ferry terminal is a 5 minute walk and the Central ferry terminals are a 15+ minute walk. If you take the Airport Express train from the airport to Hong Kong Central station, there is a free shuttle that will take you to the Ibis and back to the Central station when you are returning to the airport.

Infinitely better than what you get for the same price range in other major world cities but, make no mistake, this is a budget hotel. There are Pros: It is modern, clean and bright (with amazing views) and Cons: the bed is hard, the towels are thin, there are no toiletries and the bathroom is cramped.

"Great Hong Kong Hotel"
This was a very nice hotel. It is located just outside the central area, so it always required a walk to get anywhere. However, it is on the shuttle route from the Hong Kong central station, which was a big plus, so you can get dropped off right in front of the hotel once you get off the airport express train. Like most rooms in the city, it was fairly small, but still allowed enough room for us to have 2 medium sized bags and still be able to move around. Free water in the room was a nice surprise. Overall, it was a great no-frills hotel.

"Nice hotel near Western Market (Sheung Wan)"
The hotel is modern and attractive. We were able to walk to the MTR and travel to do all of our sightseeing. For a coffee fix, Starbucks is on the ground floor. Our room had a partial view of the harbor even though we did not pay for the Harbor View room. We may have lucked into this as we were on the 17th floor. Many of the streets near the hotel still have the traditional shops. I would definitely stay again.

"Poor Service; smokers on my non-smoking floor."
This hotel is a craps shoot. I decided to stay here because it was close to an MTR. The reality is that it's a solid 3 blocks away and unless your business is on the island it is not that concenient, not to mention hot humid rainy weather in May (meaning you are drenched in rain and sweat by the time you get to an MTR). The hotel is modern, clean, and generally we'll maintained. Rooms are the same but basic which is ok for the average traveler. Service was the overall negative of this place. I arrived at 2am after delays due to weather. I had booked a queen room. When I arrived I was informed that a queen room was unavailable, I was offered two twin beds, or a double room that was wheelchair accessible (and that they would switch me to a queen room the next day). The double bed room is what I went with because of the larger bed. It was ok, but the bathroom was a fully accessible bathroom too which means water on the floor and fixtures below normal height. The next day I checked my self in again into a queen room. In the middle of the night I woke up to the smell of cigarettes and by smell I'm talking about smoke filled nightclub smell. I phoned the front desk and they informed me they would send someone to check up on things. The smell never went away. This place is certainly luck of the draw. If other guests don't smoke on your non-smoking floor, and HK hotels are not booked to over capacity this would be a cheap clean and perfectly acceptable place to stay (if you are able to walk to the MTR). I am just extremely bugged that they gave away my room and did not do anything by way of compensation or making it up to me. Poor customer service.
