I went with 3 friends to a concert in downtown Portland and we stayed here overnight. The location was great. The rooms were decent, I have gotten bigger and better rooms for the same price in other places but it was alright. The bathroom was tiny. Not a whole lot to say. Just a pleasant and cheap alternative to the more familiar named hotels/motel chains. Rooms were not as clean as expected, however for the price, I wasn't expecting a lot. Pending on future need and relative area, I might stay there again. NEUTRAL in satisfaction.

the hotel was an older one but it was clean. It was in the area that I needed to be for my business meeting. Close to restaurants, drug store and several banks all within easy walking of 2 blocks.

I liked most everything about this hotel. The beds were comphy the room was clean. It was close to a shopping center and several food places. This website rejected my original post, but did not give any specific reason why. I didn't use bad language or insult anyone or use a website address.What I did - I told the truth about this hotel. There was mold on the ceiling in my room. I could hear the neighbors all night long laughing and yelling through the paper thin walls. The office was LOCKED […] when I arrived at 2 pm. The behavior of the staff on site - the individual was in the parking lot - when the office was locked was disturbing. We didn't get any sleep - and this was just before having surgery in the early morning. Please take my advice - pay a couple bucks more and go elsewhere. Read more

I had a couple of issue's at the Chestnut but the late night women at the front des named Alexis handled everything and me feel comfortable. Te day time manager is very rude and I was planning on never staying again until I spoke with Alexis. Because of how respectful she treated me I will stay again.

The room took 3 hours to warm up since the heat was off when we arrived. The office forgot the wake up call in the morning.Need to improve the continental breakfast. (coffee and a sweet roll don't get it)

We had a terrible experience at this hotel. There were noisy neighbors. At 1am we called front desk to complain. They did nothing. The noise continued next to us and behind our room until four in the morning. The next day we went to the frot desk as there was a complimentary breakfast. It consisted of a wheat english muffin. I reserved the hotel way in advance. I asked to have a downstairs room and non smoking. When I arrived to sign in. I was given a smoking room. I had talked to them and said I needed a non smoking room. It had just been cleaned but still smelled badly of smoke. I have smoke allergies. When I got into the bed there were burn holes in the blankets. After checking out the next morning I headed home later in the day and my bags smelled of smoke as did all of my belongings. I stayed another night after this at the hotel and asked for a downstairs non smoking and got an upstairs room. It was a non smoking room but there was still burn holes in the blankets and sheets. This location was so close to where I needed to be each morning so I did stay for one full week before and two days after but may not do this again. Read more

Very cheap and conveniently located but amenities were sparse. TV was old and fuzzy, remote worked half of the time. Lamps missing bulbs, very few outlets. Other than price and the fact I could have my small dog with me, I was disappointed. The woman checking us in, was very pleasant. The man at the desk in the morning couldn't even tell me which direction a major Portland street was. There were no blankets on the beds, or screens on the window. I thought we were to have a non-smoking room, but the bedspreads […] were covered in cigarette burns. Also, a bowl of fruit and packaged preservative filled rolls were not what I understood breakfast to be. When we pulled up, several men hanging out on the balcony just stood and watched us, while another man ran out to talk to us. I had to finally tell this man we needed to go, since we had just driven for 9 hours and still had things to do. The cigar smoke from another room was also overwhelming.
