"Es una pension"
Es una pension supercutre que incluso despues de haber pagado por adelantado nos fuimos a otro hotel ya que la entrada a la casa daba miedo 'llena de grafitis'' la habitacion superpequeña y horrible y vieja ,el baño en el pasillo, creo que con lo que pagamos 145 euros por tres noches en habitacion doble se pueden encontrar cosas muchisimo mejores en […] Madrid. No creo que nadie repita la experiencia Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Among the hostels I stayed in during my month backpacking in Europe, I was very pleased with this one. Although the facilites are average and the building itself feels a bit cramped, it was clean and the staff were kind, friendly, and helpful. Great location too.
"Not a good choice"

Stayed here 5 nights & never again. My roommate & I requested heat turned on in our room, the staff said maybe you should stay somewhere else, he also ate or threw out my pizza. At 11:30PM you are asked to whisper only, kitchen seats 4 people & closes at 11PM, 5 mins into the shower water up to your ankles, was robbed while taking a 10 min shower of money & passport copy - staff said ask the people if they took it - like they would admit? Plus misplaced my earphones, 2 staff said no one turned them in, but 1 saw them behind the desk - hmmm. The smallest hostel ever, plus my dorm was the size of a closet - no outside area, no music, no fun. Not a big party person but this place is no fun! Only positive has an elevator. Saw previous review - no one makes your bed, there is no terrace

After 2 night we stayed here..eveything is great from the staff, breakfast, to their lounge and bathroom..since its near to my room..the only thing that we're dont agree is we hv to do our own bed sheet like put it on etc..then after checking out we hv to return all the sheets to the staff which is quite irrelevant for we dont really want to steal ur cheap bed linen..thx anyway i give 5 star if not for that stunt

I stay at the Barbiere International near Chueca and it's really nice. It's very small and quiet and the staff is helpful and friendly. The rooms, bathroom, kitchen is cleaned everyday and they even make your bed! Everyone has their own locker with a key, free of charge. The kitchen could be a bit bigger but otherwise everything is fine. You definitely get a lot for your money and you don't have to spend a lot on public transport (5 min walking to Gran Via). The only unusual thing is that you have to pay to store your luggage or if you want to use the common area after your checkout. I definitely stay for longer her (until I found a job and room) and recommend it to everyone!

The hostel is very pretty and the staff is so kind! Rooms and common space are always clean and orderly. You can cooking in the kitchen and every morning there's breakfast until 10. They borrow you hairdryer if you need (for free). They provide you bed sheets and a locker with your key to keep your staff in the shared bedroom. The hostel is always so silent. It is open 24h. It is in a very good location, near to GranVia, in a neighboorhood full of shops and pretty bar. There's free wifi and if you don't have your pc there's a common one you can use. The staff is very kind and willing.

Barbieri has two hostels, the one close to Plaza del Sol has opened very recently (in April 2013) and is the best of both. Very nice personnel, helpful and nice place to relax, b e on your own or meet fellow travelers. Barbieri has a third hostel in Granada, as nice and special as this one. When coming from anothre Barbieri Hostel *either in Granda or Madrid), one receives an additional 10% discount on the already low, rally value-for-money rates.
"Helpful stuff, clean hostel, but there were not many people hanging around"

It was totally value for money! Clean and with really helpful stuff, however if you really want to meet lots of people, this is not an excellent place for that. The hostel is quite small, and they do not organize a lot of activites. But i must mention, i had the chance about meeting others :)
"... rough charm ..."

Ok, the rooms are basic, but they are clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a nice kitchen you can use and a marvelous terrace open til 11pm. There are plenty of bars and restaurants around which leaves the neighborhood full of life (and noise) until late in the night. If you are young, tolerant and come to live Madrid, you are at the right address ... ps. there are to Barbieri Hostels in Madrid. This rerview concerns Barbieri Hostel Sol, near Puerta del Sol.

The best part about this hostel is that it is really easy to find and conveniently located. The common areas were nice and the WiFi was great. The bathrooms were not so great. The stalls were were small and the doors didn't really stay shut. In the female dorm room there were loose tiles on the floor and everything just seemed worn and dirty. The sheets were very rough and uncomfortable, and I'm not usually picky. There was also no good way to get on the top bunks. There were no ladders so you had to step on the lower bunk to get to the top one. You also had to pay to use a locker and they weren't very secure. They were steel and made a lot of noise, so between that and the clacking floor tiles I felt like a jerk every time I got up to get something while others were sleeping.
