Hyatt Place New York Midtown South - New York

The room was about what you would expect in this type of hotel. I'd compare it to a new Holiday Inn Express or the like. The lobby staff was so-so; not particularly friendly but not rude either. I'd refer to them as indifferent or perhaps preoccupied. The one thing I did enjoy is that the provided breakfast is superior to any of the similar hotels.

The ONLY drawback was the elevator service - waited 45 minutes to get an elevator to check out (with luggage cart). Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast that was included was very good.

The Hotel was excellent. They had no problem with bringing me bringing my bike and keeping it in the hotel room. Rooms are a nice size and very clean. The complimentary breakfast was great. Overall a great experience and great location, close to major attractions or a short subway ride away.

Hotel stay was great. There is a parking deck right down from the hotel where you can get the hotel's daily rate, which is way cheaper then an "hourly rate". We could walk to Times Square in less than 10 minutes. This was our first trip to NY and it was awesome. Customer Service was top notch...

The hotel is new and very clean. My room was very comfortable and good- sized, which is hard to find in Manhattan. The location is close to Herald Square, so it's a short walk to the subway. My only complaint is that one person at the front desk did not know anything about getting around the city and could not provide any help in that area.

Overall the stay was good. The hotel is going through minor growing pains in terms of just opening recently but not too bad. Overall, good experience. Staff was quick and friendly. Room is decent sized for NY and brand new. Lobby is small and cramped and there are only 2 elevators for the entire hotel so traffic in the mornings.

This hotel is relatively new and the rooms are modern and clean. The rooms are small, but fairly typical for NYC. A small selection of food items is offered but a better bet is simply to go a few blocks in either direction of the hotel to get a much more tasty meal. The reason I cannot recommend the hotel is due to the poor maintenance of the elevators. […] 2 elevators serve over 20 floors and one seems always to be out of service. It took me 35 minutes to get from the 18th floor to check out - if I hadn't factored in a generous amount of time to get to the airport I would have missed my flight. Great time in New York City and this hotel was the perfect location. My best friend, mom and I were traveling with 2 kids and did a room with 2 queens and pull out. I booked a two night stay on hotels.com and some how the room was not as advertised. I payed for a queen size with a pull out sofa bed. What I got instead was a queen and a couch. I called the front desk immediately and was informed there was "nothing" they could do. So two people slept on the floor that evening. Not acceptable if you ask me. The next […] day the put us in a room with two queen size beds but failed to inform us the boiler was broken and there would be no hot water. No hot water - NO SHOWER in the morning. We had previously stayed at a Hyatt in Boston. So it was shocking how much smaller this one is. However, we were in NYC and this is what is normal so we were very happy. From the time of arrival to checkout, service was amazing & the grounds were impeccable compared to surrounding hotels.
