"Good hotel, not worth $180 a night though..."
Overall good place to stay, room was clean, staff was nice. Seemed unprepared to breakfast. My wife and I had to wait for staff to prepare items for the breakfast bar after numerous times from running out of food. "pretty, some disappointments"
rooms were nice but for the supposed original price of well over $200, you would think it was a suite with standard amenities as most equal or lower prices hotels. Location was nice, but no view that I could tell from any room. No refrigerator or microwave.. hair dryer was loose and thrown under the basin. And one of the blankets had a big hole you […] could fit a fist through in it. Most frustrating.. the door handle/ lock took a lot of work to open..I myself, never could get it to work. Then the breakfast stopped at 9:00 and before it was over, there was nothing but a few biscuits and sausage... with several other unhappy guests who had come down as well. "Nice to us, but rude to my nephew."
Hotel and staff were gracious when I checked in, but late that night my nephew from out of town decided to stay in Austin for the night. We were all at a family wedding in Austin. He called Holiday Inn, reservations, "secured" a room and even received a reservation number. "Going "green" isn't always the best"
Upon arrival, we were given a key to a room that was already occupied. After that gaff, we were taken to another room that was HOT...82 degrees. The manager felt it necessary to explain how the thermostat and light switches were to be used b/c the hotel was "green" and the switches were difficult for people to understand. It was the worst hotel stay ever. I chose this over the Hampton Inn and it was a bad mistake. The main reason this Hotel is in the shape it is in, is the lazy manager. First thing that happened was the big black hair we found in our bed as soon as we walked in the room. So we asked to be moved and they let us. "Terrible hotel service and noisy"
We usually stay in the Hampton Inn but though will give Holiday Inn a try this time, especially they had a special rate last weekend. Well, BIG MISTAKE! The hotel room is noisy. Our room was on top floor, yet I can hear the neighbor next door TV and people talking from the pool side. It was 4:45pm when I went to fronts desk and see if we could have […] a different room. Overall a nice hotel...good breakfast and nice room. Cons were the doorlock to our room never functioned properly and the shower curtain was missing upon our arrival. It was replaced almost immediately after we reported it to the front desk. The hotel was very accommodating in our request for a late checkout as well. "Good for the family, not great"
We chose this hotel due to its proximity to a venue in the area where a family wedding was being held. The exterior, lobby, & swimming pool where all 1st class. My 3 biggest gripes were these: 1. Both queen beds in our room where rock hard. I like a firm bed, but these went way beyond firm, to the point where I was waking up with aches & pains. 2. […] The hotel looked relatively new, but the tile in my bathroom was coming up. It wasn't just loose; the floor moved underneath my feet when walking to the shower or toilet, or brushing my teeth. I alerted the front desk to this, but this issue was not resolved during my 2-day stay. I can only imagine the water that has now seeped down thru base flooring layers. 3. The food for breakfast was overall very good, but there was no fruit - no apples, no bananas, no oranges, etc. 90% of the food offered was in the carb family - bagels, english muffins, dry cereal, cinnamon rolls, biscuits. The bathing amenities offered in all of our guest rooms are from Bath and Body works. We truly value our guests and want to offer the highest quality of soaps and shampoos. Our breakfast room is a grand open concept area that is modern and very welcoming. We intentionally designed this space to be inviting and comfortable for our guests. The pictures of our breakfast room as well as other areas of the property can be clearly seen on this site as well as many others. The in room coffee as well as the coffee offered for breakfast is Royal Cup, which is served at most IHG properties and is of high quality. "Newly constructed hotel in an area lacking rooms"
We had to book last minute and with UT graduation, a car race and some other event the price of the room was far too much but we had no choice. "Nice one-night stay, though noise can be a problem"
Overall, a very nice experience. The staff were attentive, and eager to please. All areas of the hotel were clean, in excellent repair, and very modern styling. The room was large, nicely furnished, and the bed very comfortable. The room had two large flat panel tv's; one by the bed, and another by the seating area. The bathroom was well stocked with […] towels, and the usual soap/shampoo/etc. The breakfast area was large enough to accomodate the usual weekend morning crowd, and the offerings were pretty good. Lots of choices of hot and cold items, breads and rolls, juices, coffee, etc, etc. . The only negative I have is that the rooms don't appear to have any soundproofing to them. We were on the 2nd floor, over the entrance, and could hear people coming and going throughout the night. We could also hear all conversations taking place in the lobby, the people above us walking across the floor, people talking in the hallways, the water running in someones bathroom; etc. Fortunately we were both able to sleep through most of the night...but woke earlier than expected because of the sounds from the breakfast area. The hotel was ok. The decor was nice but everything was not up to par. The shower leaked a lot of water onto the floor and made a huge mess. The best thing about this hotel was the fact that it was new. The cable kept messing up the entire weekend and I told the guy at the front desk. He said he'd look at it and call my room but that never happened. Internet was too, never worked well and when it did was super slow. Cleaning service didn't touch the room during the stay for the normal bed making & fresh towels. Had to call front desk to request towels. Makes me wonder what else they totally skip cleaning....
