"Cute and clean B&B in a great location!"
Cute B&B in a wondeful location in Cape May. Room and common areas were spotless and the managment was available and attentive but not in your face. We'd stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This cute B&B is in a great location. It is 1/2 block from prime shopping plaza and 2 blocks to the beach and just a short walk to many other restaurants and shopping. The house is cute, not fancy or spacious. Breakfast was a continental breakfast, nothing fancy but suitable. I did not see the innkeeper at all while there so I can't comment on that […] . "Loved the location. No need to move your car."
Always enjoyed staying at Captain Mey's. The only disappointing aspect was the continental breakfast. We missed the Home cooked breakfast and the afternoon tea. Will look into staying at another Bed and Breakfast for these amenities.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quiet, peacefull and convenient"
Captain Mey's Inn is a comfortable, quiet, and peaceful place to stay in Cape May. It's convenient to the beach, shopping and restaurants. We went after Labor Day so the crowds were down and had a marvelous time.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very limited breakfast. Plates from past diners were not removed. Lack of fresh plates and utensils. A significant number of electrical repairs needed.Genuine Expedia guest review
"pretty but lacking"
ok for a quick overnight stay, but don't expect personal service and breakfast was not worth even mentioningGenuine Expedia guest review
We enjoyed staying at this b&b years ago but were very disappointed this time. The air conditioner was very loud, the place looked shabby and the breakfast was very dull.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not worth the $"
Owner was very nice once she let us in. We stood on the porch with our bags in 90 degree weather for 10 minutes watching her through the window speaking to another guest while she looked at us and held up her index finger gesturing to us to wait for her. Very rude. When the other guest finally saw we were hot and getting impatient, they finally told […] the owner to let us in. She was nice and explained about the B & B and took us to our room. That was the last we ever saw of her. The AC in the room was insuficient and there were 2 winter blankets on the bed. No light weight blankets. The sheets on our queen bed were pilled and sooo uncomfortable on my skin. The "fitted" sheet came off the corners on both sides within 10 minutes of getting into bed so we were sleeping on scratchy pilled crinkled up sheets...basically sleeping half on the sheet pile and half on the waterproof mattress cover. The pillows were so overstuffed and hard that they were useless...unless you wanted to commit to a stiff neck for 4 days. And did I mention how hot it was?!? My final complaint was the breakfast. A plate of bagels, english muffins and a bowl of hard boiled eggs left on the table with no "staff" anywhere in sight. Seriously?!? I have never stayed in a B&B that didn't make you a really nice cooked breakfast. It was way worse than any chain hotel's cont. breakfast. Did I really pay $160 for this? I recommend you stay at a Holiday Inn Express over the Captain Mey's B&B anyday. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"It happened one night."
just one night. It was OK. we were visiting family in wildwood NJ. gone all day. we slept. we left.Genuine Expedia guest review
I was not informed that the room did not have an attached bathroom. We had to go into the hall to get to the bathroom. Breakfast was not up the standard for a good b&b.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to shopping street"
Cute Victorian hotel. Bedroom was very small, window air conditioner 1' from bed blowing directly all night. Bathroom was outside room, down hall even though it was our "private bath", Squeaking doors made getting up at night even worse. The cotton sheets were pilled making it feel like sand in bed. Continental breakfast. Never saw any staff. Not one […] our best B and B experiences. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Part business, part pleasure. Being at Capt. Mey's made the business part easy and the pleasure part enjoyable.Genuine Expedia guest review
Room was very small and crowded. Shower also small. Saw Innkeeper for a total of 3minutes at breakfast, we were "checked in" via phone when we called as indicated on the front door.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nov 8010, 2013"
The house was charming. Lots of charming items, furniture, curtains, drapes knick knacks, very nice. The bed was quite comfortable though the pillows were a bit too hard. The bathroom was small and only had a small shower stall probably too small for a large person. The lady who managed the place (Rita) was very nice and helpful. On our first night […] she pointed us to a nearby "local" restaurant/bar that turned out to be a lot of fun. She was also very helpful in showing us the room without being too intrusive. The breakfast that was included was nice but did not have any special nice touches. There was the standard fruit, cereal, several types of breads, bagels but no hot rolls just out of the oven or hot food (like pancakes or waffles etc). There was plenty though. There were also small packets of candy to take as a snack if you so desired (maybe left overs from Halloween. The place was perfectly situated. Near the beach and all shopping. "Rainy Day Sunshine"
So we went down in the middle of a nor'easter, it was raining the whole weekend and we were pretty much trapped in our room. Not at all the inn's fault, but thankfully it was still an awesome weekend. I guess God's plan was for me and my wife to just enjoy each other's company. We loved the inn and the service was great. When we go back to Cape May […] we'll be staying at Captain Mey's. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Disappointing for the price"
Hardly ever saw the staff...breakfast was served in the dining room but it was just a continental breakfast. Also, we were on the 3rd floor and the room was very tiny with a lot of alcoves. There were only a few places where my husband could actually stand upright in the room. TV was very littlw and only provided 3 channels.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Great B&B in the middle of it all"
We stayed for the weekend and it is a great location. Less than a block to the mall for shops and restaurants and 1 1/2 blocks to the beach. They let you use beach chairs and towels, even on your last day (as well as the outdoor shower). The breakfast is basic continental so you should not expect a full breakfast. In our room, the AC was rather loud […] when it turned on but other than that, it was a great stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Lovely romantic bed and breakfast"
Captain Mey's was a wonderful hotel. The B&B was immaculate, the room spacious, the bed very comfortable, and bathroom with Jacuzzi tub huge! "Quaint and convenient B&B"
Nice, comfortable room with period decor. Convenient to convention hall/beach/town. Pleasant owner, continental breakfast in lovely dining room.
"Good location; fair room"

Very good location near the Washington Street Mall and near the beach, right in the historic district. Has off-street parking. Breakfast was very basic and the I'd say the bathroom was a bit small and outdated. The staff was not always around.

We had a wonderful time here, would definitely come again.great location to beach and restaurants. In October the weather could be tricky but we were very lucky, windy on the beach but still able to walk....

It has become a family practice to spend a few days in early fall in Cape May NJ. This year we selected a different B & B at which to stay, The Captain Mey Inn. We found the rooms acceptable, but not exciting. The staff was frequently hard to find. Breakfast disappeared before we ever had a chance to enjoy it. Plates and utensil were no where to be found. One point which concerned me was the number of electrical issues, clearly violating code, which were unattended. I would expect that this would be the time of year for repairing and replacing those things which had been casualties of a busy summer. Needless to say, we will not return.
"Pretty Place, Great Location, but Cheaper is Dearer..."
09/09/14 Mitchell I New York
Booking online is a bit risky. Was advertised as, "Most affordable".Yes, probably for most, but there are better, more affordable deals around. Location is excellent; near a nice town area and the beach. Place was very pretty. When we got there, the door was locked and we called the number on the door and no one answered. Rita was surprised that she didn't hear the phone. So were we. Some other Trip Advisor Reporter said something similar where they stayed outside ignored in 90 degree weather. Nice guests let us in and showed us where everything was. Room: Room was cute in the Victorian Style. One bulb was out-minor. Our bathroom was not in our room; a bit inconvenient… Once the lock jammed…well… The bathroom was spacious and towels were nicely made up every day as the bed was too. The bathroom window could not open and I'm a Union Carpenter. The shower head had one setting/ "rusted" in place. After my GF took a shower and wanted to put on make up, she was sweating again due to no ventilation-no ventilation! The cute little containers of shampoo and body lotion were never replaced after the first day…so they had to last… We spoke to some guests down the block in another Victorian Bed and Breakfast Mansion. Their price was less expensive, had bikes and a better breakfast. A happier, more romantic experience. We brought our own bikes. The place is very safe though the bike rack was made out of wood and in need of repair. Three blocks away were more modern hotels that were way less expensive and on the beach, but these Victorian Mansions are lovely. So if expense is a factor, you will find a better deal and way more spacious rooms for a lower price. Important if you have kids. Breakfast from 9-11AM: Serve yourself-fine. Nice assortment of juices, rolls, bagels, fruits, etc. They ran out of hard boiled eggs (not in the advertisement to be fair). Most of the tea bag varieties were being saved...in the cabinet…for what? I don't know. We were watching Rita respond to guests who asked if she had any bananas (not in the advertisement to be fair). Her tone was very sweet. She said, due to the Morotcycles (??) in town…something,..that she didn't have bananas. My GF has one every day. We went to Acme, two blocks away and picked up blueberries, strawberries, rasberries and yes, bananas for 69 cents a pound. Yes, we have no bananas!!! At times, the coffee quality was erratic. When it was extremely diluted it was very disappointing. There was a Keurig machine there: bring your own pods because there are none there (advertised to be fair), but it will guarantee you a good cup of coffee. We went around the block basically and bought coffee. We felt the two girls who take care of the place, rooms food service etc., were disinterested and avoided being helpful. Victoria was particularly passive aggressive (lol), but accurate so I mention her here. None of the help said good morning to you so don't expect it. Upon checking out, Rita asked if we were happy with our stay. We said it was fine and sorta backed out slowly as we both looked at each other. Would I reccomend this place? No, as there are better deals around in as nice Mansions with a better experience waiting for you. Worst case scenario-sure.

We were down for the weekend with our family and we felt so welcomed by the inn keeper. They were extremely gracious and lovely! The Inn is so quaint and ideally located. It is a gem! We will certainly be back.
"We stay here every year!"
08/14/14 wulimaster Bloomfield, New Jersey
This is a lovely house, with a great wrap around porch, the location is perfect, just ablock away from Washington St. and it's probably the best priced B&B in Cape May. If a full breakfast is something you need, then this is probably not the place for you, since they only serve a continental breakfast (muffins, toast, cereal, ect.) but they have very good coffee available all the time. I'm not a big breakfast person, so this B&B work perfectly for me (as long as I have lots of coffee!) - this is a lovely place, you won't go wrong here.
"great location at a great price"

We stayed her in June and thoroughly enjoyed our room on the first floor with the private entrance. There are better and more elaborate breakfasts at other inns but the selection was certainly adequate and the access to coffee and hot water 24/7 was a nice benefit. We would definitely stay here again. Plus a big thanks to Rita for tracking us down and returning our radio that we left in the room by mistake.
"Great B&B right in the heart of historic Cape May!"

My husband and I stayed here last weekend. For a last minute kid-free getaway, we had limited choices for a place to stay. Thankfully Captain Mey's had an opening. We stayed in the Queen Beatrix room, which was decorated in traditional Victorian style. The room was so quiet. We never heard any other guest. The bed was super comfy and the sheets were soft. The private bathroom was a few steps outside the room, down the hall. It was a different experience for us, and reminded us of our days in the dorm. But it was spacious and clean--> just took a little to get used to. The Inn provided beach towels, and beach chairs for our use, and even let us use them after check out on Sunday morning. We've never stayed at a B&B, so I can't compare it to other area facilities. However, breakfast was only continental (bagels, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, coffee, tea, juice). Since we had plans to go to the Mad Batter for breakfast anyway, this didn't matter much to us, but for some that want a traditional hot B&B breakfast, this may be disappointing. The common spaces were beautifully decorated. We enjoyed sitting on the porch, watching the horse and carriages go by and enjoying wine. The location is 2 blocks from the beach, and 1 block from the Washington Street Mall. Couldn't have asked for a better location. Overall, it was a great and relaxing weekend.
"We loved this place!"

My cousin and our mothers stayed here in late April 2014. It was a cool and rainy few days so we really appreciated the 24-hour coffee/tea/hot chocolate! Rita was around a lot and had time for many a friendly chat; she was a wonderful hostess. Breakfast was casual, comfortable and fine. The whole place had been freshly decorated and we found the Victorian style completely charming. Short walk to beach, shopping and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again.
