Nice old style hotel, the location is great in front of the beach, good restaurants and coffe-bars around. Is the perfect place to go and just relax. Great!!!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The club down the street played music keeping us awake until all hours of the night. VERY thin and uncomfortable bed. No lift! I was just not comfortable here. No designated parking. Asked for a sea side room and did NOT get it. I would not stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
хороший отель на побережье. к сожалению рядом река которая в половодье портит весь пляж.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Camera nello scantinato"
Arrivato in hotel mi sono trovato assegnata una camera praticamente sotto terra con il bagno con muffa... Prenotate le camere matrimoniali da qualche euro in più perché altrimenti vi mettono nello "scantinato"...Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I am back packing through Italy and decided to stay at this hotel. It is a small hotel but right on the sea. It actually was a castle in the 1900's. I had a single room in the tower. It was perfect! Very clean, safe and I have a beautiful view :) Not to forget the rooftop terrace if you don't feel like laying on the beach. The staff are ALL extremely friendly and were more than happy to give me advice on transportation and info on the local tourist spots to visit! Needless to say, I stayed 4 days at this hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again when traveling to this area of Italy! :) I actually had to stay a 5th night in the area and had to leave this hotel to stay across the street at the "grand" hotel Mediteranee (terrible hotel!!!!) the staff were so arrogant, unfriendly and condescending I went back to the Hotel Castello to ask for advice on how to get to the airport! She was soooo friendly and helpful! She have me a map verified my stops on the Internet and gave me an English novel to read for my flight home as another traveller had left it and I had finished mine! She was very kind, friendly and hospitable! All the things that the other hotel should take note of! I have been to Italy on 3 separate occasions and have stayed in a number of hotels. I would MOST definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to anyone traveling to the area! :) Crystal Toronto, Canada
"Good for long stay"

Spent 5 weeks in the Hotel. An average hotel with homely atmosphere. Close to the beach and many beach restaurants. Restaurant Pizzeria at next door made me to taste original Italian Pizza. Many good seafood restaurants are there to enjoy,

We choose the Castello Miramare because of its convenience to the airport for an early morning flight home the next day. We would consider staying here again under the same circumstances but would email a few requests in advance. The neighborhood is delightful for strolling and people watching with a long and wide promenade right on the waterfront. We enjoyed some great pizza and beer at the very busy restaurant right next door. The hotel was a mixed bag however. The folks working the front desk were very friendly and helpful to us, especially with arranging a very early taxi ride. We were given a nice top floor room with an ocean and beach view. The cost was OK I thought. The most disconcerting was the large key hole in the door. They use old style long shank metal keys with a tab and we wondered if any key would work on any door. We stuffed tissue in the key hole while in the room and duct taped it over to discourage anyone from peering through the hole. Our room was up and around 2 flights of stairs and a long hallway with no noticeable fire escape. This reminded me of old hotels I used to stay at in Mexico decades ago that I often wondered to myself how to evacuate safely in the event of a fire. The hotel also seems bigger on the website pictures. We would certainly give this hotel another try in advance of a flight home if we fly in and out of Genoa. We feel confident that the right hotel employee would help address any security and safety concerns with rooms if given the opportunity.
"Was OK but,...worth 2 stars only"

The thing i like the most during my stay was the sea panorama once you opened the window, and to be asleep with the sound of the sea. BUT the weak points are the television is so small, the room is not CLEAN enough.. as carpet at the staircase especially the radiator on the WC. No assistance to take our suitcase up. No variety for breakfast and the breakfast room was SPOOKY with witch decoration. The door is hard to lock and we can hear the noise from the next room.OH and the worst .. the bed isn't thick enough, so at some points we kinda feel like sleeping on a hard surface. It is strategic but really need renovation and some more training on the personals. too expensive regarding the quality
"Charming little hotel"

We stayed 6 nights in this hotel. The area is a nice neighbourhood, with only two more hotels near, which all seemed to be frequented by mostly Italians. Staff members were very friendly and helpful. We could park next to the hotel for free. There is a market on Thursdays, then you have to remove the car. Although the Hotel is next to the road and has the airport nearby the windows are so soundproof you don't hear a thing. The airco was good. Our room faced the sea, was spacious and had a nice bathroom. The furnishing and design matched with the castello (whose origins date back to the 16th century, then it was called Castello Chiozza). The bed was perfectly ok, and we slept very well (and long). When is wasn't too hot it was great to fall asleep with the sound of the waves. Breakfast would kindly be served until 11am, and the one time we made it we were content. The hotel is directly located to the beach, there is a free area and one were you have to pay (€8 from 2pm till 8pm), then there is a sunbed and umbrella included, showers and a little pool (guarded, so nice for kids, too). Going out is easy: Either you hop on the bus, the bus stop is next the hotel and brings you directly to the centre for 1,50€ a ride (we din't try the water taxi, pity). Or you stay in the neighbourhood. Plenty of little restaurants are in reach within 20-400m. English is spoken everywhere, people are eager to assist. From the roof terrace you have a nice view on Pegli and the harbour, especially at night. My conly concern was the airport, but you hardly hear anything of it.
"Badly in need of a renovation on the inside"

From the outside, this hotel really does look like a "castle". It has recently been renovated on the outside. Unfortunately the facade sets you up for severe disappointment once you enter. The inside of the hotel is very dated. The carpet in the reception area and on the stairs looks like it hasn't been changed in a good 20 years. The staff member who checked us in was friendly enough. We were quite disappointed with our room. The furnishings were straight out of the 1970s or so it seemed. The bed was less than comfortable. The entrance door was very old and didn't feel very secure. The bathroom door made a terrible squeaking sound which could have been easily fixed with a bit of oil, but the whole place gave us the impression that a lot of these little things had been neglected over the years. The room was generally quite clean and tidy. Bathroom was very small and in need of a renovation, especially the shower, but it was functional. We picked this hotel for its location, close to a wedding we were attending and also it was right on the beach. Unfortunately it is also right on the main road in and out of Pegli and the rooms are poorly sound-proofed so it's not a great place for light-sleepers. Breakfast was included in the room rate. It is served in a basement room with very little light. The croissants and bread made available was kept in a glass cabinet on a bench so you didn't feel like you were all that free to help yourself to them - it didn't feel like a buffet where you can go back for more if you want to. The foccaccia they served was quite good. I'd suggest avoiding the croissants as they tasted like coconut or something - maybe they're made with palm oil, not sure. The breakfast options were very limited, especially for international visitors. There was no breakfast cereal at all, for example. Overall we were quite disappointed and were glad to only have to spend one night here. It wasn't especially cheap, so I'd suggest finding other options.
