"Best stay in Puerto Vallarta ever!"
We loved this smaller hotel. The food was great , the drinks were awsome. We got an upgrade to an ocean view room on the top floor, and what a view!! Loved the fact that there wasn't that loud music going all the time by the pool. Best place to watch the sunset at the roof top pool. Would love to go back!! "Pampered and Relaxed After Three Nights!"
Exceptionally clean - everywhere! Restaurant advertising was misleading (we discovered that some were only open on specific days so although we were in the hotel for three nights, we were unable to try the Brazilian restaurant). Allowing smoking especially near the restaurants was hugely frustrating and took away from the "fine-dining experience". […] Our table of four was forced to move inside (from a lovely outdoor setting) to escape chain-smokers who lit up as soon as they were seated. Restaurant food was overall very good but the service, consistently outstanding. We were not impressed with any of the Italian offerings; however, the 5-course French and Mexican meals were excellent. Alcoholic drinks ( whether poolside, lobby bar, O' West Lounge or during meals) were tasty but tended to have a lower alcohol content unless you asked for a "double" which the bartenders were always happy to oblige. Minor maintenance repair requests were dealt with incredibly promptly. Breakfast room service was superb; prompt and delicious. All staff were consistently incredibly friendly and helpful and often went out of their way to please. If you can afford to spend a little extra, opt for the higher floor oceanfront Jr.Suites. The quality furnishings, amenities, privacy and of course the unobstructed view are the only 'way to go'. We would strongly suggest that the hallway music, although very pleasant, was audible in our room and should be lowered earlier than the usual 11pm timing. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Not worth the dinero!"

We had high hopes for this resort as we read the reviews on trip advisor. However we were mislead. The only good service was around the pool bar and beach. The restaurants were understaffed and not enough restaurants were even open. There are supposed to be 4 restaurants. They decide on the occupancy how many to open or not. So the buffet was open and one restaurant. That is it. The snack bar was none existent because again, low occupancy. Breakfast buffet was horrible unless you like soggy tortilla chips with salsa. The only restaurant that was any good was the Mexican but the food came out cold. They were so understaffed my girlfriend pretended she was a waiter and filled the customers glasses. The decor is modern and nicely done. There is a beautiful 5th floor adult bar that serves drinks and sushi. There is supposed to be a coffee/sandwich bar. They say it is closed for maintenance . They are never going to open it. I read a review before I left and it was closed then. If you want a drink, expect only for one bar to be open in the hotel. If there is low occupancy the lobby bar will not be open. I only wish I could decide that I only want to pay half price for all the things that they say they offer and they don't. If you want to stay at a hotel great. This is just a hotel. It is not an all inclusive and does not deserve to have the Hilton name. I would not stay again, I expect more.

The hotel exceeded our expectations. The rooms were newly redecorated with upgraded amentities. The service and food was fabulous. My favorite restaurant was Italian. It truly is all-inclusive. Close to everything and a short public bus ride to old town.

My husband and I stayed at the hilton week of nov 9th, 2013. We could not have asked for better service, especially from the restaurant staff and poolside waitresses. The hotel was very clean, beautiful bedding, great location and not noisey. The hotel is within walking distance to the Galleria Mall and Sorianos, for those incidentals you may have left at home. The view from the resort is amazing, with the occaisional pod of dolphins swimming by. The only complaint we had was the temperature of the food, it was often lukewarm, when it should have been hot. We will be returning, hopefully soon.

Our first impressions were not so favorable. Emails sent to the hotel took over a week for a response. Upon check in, the room was not ready even though it was almost 4:00 p.m. We waited about an hour for the room to be cleaned, and the air conditioner took a long time to cool the room. The mini-fridge was not cold - surprising because the room had been occupied and should be functional. After six hours, we called maintenance and it delivered another fridge that worked properly. While waiting for the room to cool, we tried to turn on the ceiling fan. We couldn't find a switch, and maintenance said it operated via a remote, but the hotel will not provide a remote for a good reason. Ask the hotel about its non-functional ceiling fans and you will get a good chuckle. The sink stoppers don't function properly. We had to remove the stoppers to allow water to drain. Once we inadvertently plugged the sink and couldn't remove the stopper after that. Fortunately, the room had two sinks, so we just used the other one and were very careful to not put the stopper down. Housekeeping has its ups and downs. I made a list of extra items and housekeeping provided exactly what I asked for. If it wasn't on the list, we didn't get it. Now to the positives. The two-level junior suite with the rooftop terrace is awesome. The main floor had plenty of space and the area below the staircase is perfect for storing luggage. Plus, the small lights on the staircase wall provided an excellent nightlight. The main floor had a small balcony with a small table and two chairs. The huge rooftop terrace had a small table, four chairs, two lounge chairs, and a hot tub. We spent several evenings enjoying the starry nights. Just beware of bug bites. While waiting for our room on the first day, we went to OWest for a drink and some sushi. Unfortunately, the sushi is displayed in a non-refrigerated case. We don't know how long the sushi had been in the case, but our stomachs got a bit upset. We did not have any sushi after that. However, on another day, we had some sashimi. This time we watched Israel take the sashimi out from a fridge and carefully slice it into paper think slices. Perfection! And the sauce was outstanding. We had breakfast in Sea Fire every morning, There is a surprising variety of items, but nothing outstanding. We had lunch offsite and booked dinner at the specialty restaurants where the food was much better. Our favorite was Catrina, the Mexican restaurant. Le Delice, the French one, was also quite good. We did not try Fogo, but were a bit disappointed in Trattoria, the Italian restaurant. While the pizza was good, the pasta was overcooked. Drinks were plentiful and good. Although the hotel indicated that we would have to pay a surcharge for certain top shelf drinks, we never had to pay a supplement. The hotel also stated that tips were included, but we tipped generously because the service was outstanding. Here is an area where the hotel excelled. Every server (restaurant and bar) was professional and friendly. By our last day, we all agreed that we would definitely return to the Hilton Puerto Vallarta to see some of our favorites - Fernando, Israel, Eric, Ricardo, etc. A few final notes - the hotel is within a short 10-minute walk from the marina. If you plan on any excursions that leave from the marina, the hotel location is very convenient. The hotel is also a short bus ride to the Malecon and other downtown areas. The grocery store Soriana is about a 5-minute walk and has the best prices on tequila.

the staff was fantastic, food was okay, had to wait a bit for the room to be ready at check in but the bar was open so no big deal. the concierge crew was a great help with off site activities, they arranged for transportation to and from the airport which was great - no waiting for a taxi.

We went down to P.V for a week of relaxation and quiet time.It was that and more.If you are looking for a party type resort this is not for you. It was quiet and the food and service were very good.Ricardo at the buffet was fantastic,Suzi and Annabelle were great servers of many many drinks. If not for these three people this would not of been nearly as great.THESE THREE NEED A RAISE.The resort it self is quite small. The rooms are very nice and the ala carts were pretty good, except for the french wich is kinda funny since it had great reviews in the past, this might of been a little glitch, since we talked to other people who said in other nights it was good.Overall I would recommend this resort for rest and relaxation
"Great Family Vacation"
11/30/13 Gluja Edmonton
Great Family Vacation We spent two weeks in Hilton Puerto Vallarta from November 16 until November 30 and we really enjoyed it. The weather was phenomenal, no drop of rain and practically no wind for two weeks. The Hilton is a very nice hotel, clean modern and well equipped. We especially liked the settings and design of the hotel. Everything, beach, lobby, restaurants, pool, rooms , kids club, sushi bar at the roof are in the radius of 150 meters. But, the hotel would not be so nice without the staff that runs it. All credit to the staff. The complete staff offered great service but I would like to use the opportunity to mention some names. Kids Club: Lulu - my kids spent every day at the kids club and really enjoyed the activities there. Activities: Eduardo, Liz and their manager Charlie - we especially enjoyed daily aerobics in the pool. Service at a pool: Nicholas, Annabel and lady without name tag. The service was fast and efficient. Thanks Main Restaurant SEAFIRE: Joel, Gustavo, Bolivia, Fernando, very nice and hardworking people Mexican: Gabriel - we went twice to Mexican restaurant and food and service were great. This was our favorite restaurant. French: we went twice too to French restaurant and food, staff and service were great. Reception: Michelle and Fatima - On the first day we were assigned rooms 221 and 222 which had balconies with walls six feet high with virtually no view. We asked for different rooms and on the second day we were moved to rooms 536 and 538 which had a way better view. The food and drinks were prepared very well[hats off to the CHEFS] I really enjoyed fish, barbeque, chicken and pork in different sauces, soups, salads, mixed vegetables, wood oven pizza, cakes , ERADURA REPOSADO TEQUILA, PALOMA and coffee. We really enjoyed breakfast and lunch buffets at SEAFIRE restaurant sitting outside looking at the ocean. The housekeeping staff did an excellent job. The mini bar was replenished every day and we always had enough water in the fridge. We only took the Pirate Ship tour for our kid's birthday and we strongly recommend Pirate Tour for the families. During the weekends there were a lot of Mexican families in the hotel that added a nice flavor to hotel ambient. They were very nice and polite people. We personally like to change hotels and places for all inclusive vacations but we would definitely go back to Hilton in Puerto Vallarta. Information for potential guests. Bus ride to the city from Hilton is 6 pesos - $0.50 [10 minutes ride] Wal-Mart is 15 minutes walking distance if you forgot to bring something. The best money exchange is in the banks but you need to present a passport. We strongly recommend the HILTON especially for the families. GRACIAS HILTON for the enjoyable vacation. My only suggestion for the hotel and management is to add ice cream station in the main restaurant SEAFIRE.

I just wanted to write a quick review for anyone out there that is looking in to having a destination wedding in Puerto Vallarta. First a little background on why we chose Puerto Vallarta. My Family started going to Puerto Vallarta in 1990, a Puerto Vallarta that is a lot different that it is now. We would go during Christmas Break for two weeks every year and we loved it all. Growing up, Puerto Vallarta had all my interests, in my tween to early teen year, I spend my days body surfing in the ocean, when my late teens to early 20's rolled around, I spent every night at the bars around town, from Kaluha, to Señor Froggs (when it was in the Romantica Zone) to the Zoo and even Mandala when it first opened as well as a few others along the way. Now, being in my 30s, my days consist of having Coronas on the beach, dinner and maybe Andales if were in the mood. Well, back to the Subject. My now wife and I really wanted to have a destination wedding and knowing Puerto Vallarta so well we knew that was the only choice. SInce my parents spend a decent amount of time down there in the winter (who wouldn't if you could get out of these Chicago winters) my mom would check out venues and report back to us. My brother would be down there for a few days in February so my mom would show him the final choices and he would give us his opinion and we would make a choice from there. We'll after a lot of looking at venues and reporting back, we chose the Hilton. It looked to have great views and they seemed to have a good idea of what we wanted even though it seemed like they had just opened. We (well mainly my wife) spent the next months emailing Mariana (our coordinator at the hotel) letting her know what we wanted. It seemed to be going together very well, almost too well, so we got a little nervous. Everything was set and we were heading down seven days before the wedding to relax and do final preparations. We got there on Saturday and were taken up to our room. One of the buildings had an AC unit out so we were in the main building. It was ocean front and had a great view, nothing to complain about. On Monday we met Mariana for the first time and she couldn't have been any nicer. It was great to put a face with the name we had been emailing with! We met with her for a bit and kind of set up a schedule for the week. We didn't have to make times to meet with various people (Photographer, DJ, Chef, Etc) because Mariana would just check in with us a couple times a day and try to set up times that were good for us. It was such a relief, not having to worry about a time schedule at all. Just lay at the pool and make appointments when it worked for us. It sounded great to me! Over the next couple days we met with the Photographer and DJ and everyone was very professional and put us at ease. They really seemed like they knew what they were doing. The food tasting was one of my favorite parts though. I'm 6'6" and really like my food! We had three choices and all were delicious but honestly, the chicken blew my wife and I away! I've been coming to Puerto Vallarta for almost 25 years and it was by far the best thing I have tasted down there! The chef was a great guy and studied in Louisiana for a while so he really knew his spices. I even talked about how I used to like tequila but not as much anyone. He proceeded to bring out a very good sipping tequila and I had a bit of that. Whew, was it good. Walking out of there I felt good, both about the food and from the tequila! We'll, wedding day comes and everything has gone very smoothly. Everyone has arrived and I was able to take my buddies and dates out for a night on the town a few nights before but everyone is recovered and ready for some more fun! My wife and I head downstairs for pictures and the photographers are waiting. They had a photographer, a flash guy (sorry, I don't know what they are called!) as well as a interpreter. He seemed to really know what he was doing and we got some great pictures all over the resort. They all stuck around for 3 hours and got some great shots over the course of the night! The best part is we had the CD for the disks the following night! No having to wait months for pictures! Well, after pictures we had the wedding on the roof where the sushi bar was. In total we had 65 guests and it was the perfect size. We had the wedding right at sunset so the background was unreal. Mariana had 2 other people assisting her to make sure everything went smooth up there and it did. As our guests came up the stairs they were greeted and given a margarita, not too shabby! After the ceremony we had cocktails and appetizers (sushi, shrimp, etc). It was all delicious. We got to enjoy the "Afterglow" as we call it as the sun was down over the ocean. Everyone was amazed by the view. I will say that I am spoiled by the sunsets down there always staying in a condo in the Zona Romantica that is on the beach but this view was just as great. Even though they only had one bar, it didn't seem like anyone waited for drinks and believe me, our guests like to have there drinks! We had a special surprise for our guests. As the sky turned to dark, we were going to have our first dance, but as the dance was ending, we had scheduled fireworks. I was very skeptical how this was going to turn out, I mean, there is some coordination needed for that. I remember as the dance was starting I saw Mariana walking around talking on her ear piece. I know she had to be nervous, she seemed like a perfectionist. Well, we had our first dance in front of everyone and as the last note of our first dance was playing we had fireworks going off on the beach right in front of us. IT WAS PERFECT! I'll admit, it worked so perfect that I got teary eyed! After that we headed down to the restaurant that they had closed for us. They had never thrown a wedding in there before so it was going to be a first. We'll everything was great. 65 people fit in there perfect. The food was amazing, everyone always had a drink and people were having a great time. We were a little worried about the DJ since it was an American wedding but he had a great wedding set going. I was very happy with it. The only thing is I wished he would have dressed a little nicer, a T shirt and shorts wasn't the best choice for a wedding but hey I wasn't too concerned. He made up for it because my brother and friends had a few funny and off song requests and they were able to plug in their iPhones to get the song. It was pretty funny. If you are going to have a wedding, I would say to get the DJ lights, we decided not to get them but I think it would have really helped light up the dance floor a bit more. Dancing and drinks were great. At 11:30 it started to clear out and we cleared it out. Now though, on to the after party at the hotel bar! About 30 of us made it in there and continued our fun. We kept the party going for another couple hours and after that my new bride and I had it. We were spent! As we went upstairs we talked about how great everything went. There were never any problems or hiccups. Mariana or one of her staff were always within view of us and if we needed anything they were over to us within seconds. It was great. I do want to add that I am from the North Suburbs of Chicago and a lot of our guests were from there. Most of our guests travel a lot and go to many destination weddings. They repeatedly told us how great the wedding was over the next couple weeks and how it was the best one they had ever been to. My mother even says that she gets random people she doesn't know when she is out in our hometown asking her if she is the one who had the son who got married in PV and when she responds yes they say that they heard it was amazing and it was greatly due to Mariana and the staff at the Hilton. I mainly wrote this review because if there is a couple in our situation, I want them to get a lengthy review of what we thought. It really was a great place to have a wedding and we aren't the easiest of people to please sometimes. The wedding was also surprisingly affordable, a lot less than some would think for a 65 person wedding. I would note, if you are having a wedding in PV, make sure to have it November to March. We had ours at the end of October and it was still a bit hot at night if there was no breeze and a couple of heavy rain showers at night. The sun was out all day though. When we go in December/January I have only seen it rain twice in 25 years and at night it isn't as hot. Also, I suggest getting down 6 or 7 days before the ceremony so you can get everything done that you need to and not feel so rushed. Hopefully this helps a few people out in the coming months/years and makes them look into the Hilton. I know people have different tastes but if you want a great wedding with great views and food and people that work hard to make sure everything is perfect you really need to look into the Hilton. A special thanks to Mariana from Brian and Staci, you and your staff were amazing and friendly, we are so happy we decided to go with the Hilton! Good luck to all of those couples looking to have a destination wedding, remember to have fun as the process goes on!
"Vacation with children"

The all inclusive was great and the 24hr gym had the best view of the ocean, but what set this resort apart, was the service of its employees. Everyone was friendly and did whatever they could to make you confortable...our daughter MacKenzie fell in love with one special person Lourdes "LuLu" at the kids club who made her entire week fun and exciting. We had plenty to do, but she always wanted to go back and visit LuLu. Thanks for making this trip so special for her!!
