"Great hotel if you are seeking rest and quite"
Hotel is in a very secluded area. Rooms are lovely. We stayed in the lodge and intend to return, but would seek a honeycomb room that offers fireplaces and patios. There is no workout room or pool, but there are several trails in which to hike. We were disappointed that the fireplaces were not working and there was no one to resolve the issue. Many […] of the staff were new and could not answer many of our questions, which was frustrating. It is a great place to stay for rest and relaxation but is limited in its amenities. Enjoyed the Inn located right in the woods with walking trails. It was raining the one evening we stayed, and would have liked the fireplaces to be operrating. The signature king bed room at the Inn was very comfortable although we were at the lower level with no view. Amenities were appreciated, like the hot cider, etc. and the staff were very friendly […] and helpful. It was impressive and very clean. We ate at the Tarragon and it was superb but expensive. The included breakfast was very good. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice romantic getaway"

I purchased a two night package in a Superior room with a wine, cheese tray, happy hour drinks and appetizers from 4-6pm. Our room was nice and spacious. Bed was comfortable and I liked that they had complimentary keurig coffee, water and biscotti. Cheese tray was just okay, nothing to write home about. Front staff was pleasant at check in but no warm fuzzy vibes. Next day Rhonda was at the front desk. What a joy! So friendly and helpful. She went out of her way to make you feel welcome. And was very informative in regards to the area. Now that evening was a different story, my Husband made the mistake of asking the brown short haired lady where he could get creamer. She was short, abrupt and made it clear she could not assist with his request. I'm wondering if she was the one the other viewers were speaking of.. Trails were nice with a variety in distances based on trail chosen. Seemed well kept. We enjoyed the purple trail around the pond. Tip1: We rec'd binoculars at check in and really enjoyed checking out the different birds. Who would have thought that bird watching would be so fun! Even from our ceiling to floor bedroom window. Tip2: Though they have complimentary continental breakfast and club level happy hour drinks (with certain rooms)and appetizers be prepared to sit at a table and order your food. And don't forget a tip for the waitress. No buffet type of dining here. The waitresses were all very friendly and service was good. Restaurant is high end and pricey. But other reviewers have said the food is very good. Tip3: No young children allowed. Honestly I was fine with that. After leaving our 9 and 5 yr old at home it was nice to have a quiet peaceful weekend. I would like to come back in the Fall as I'm sure the view is spectacular. Would prefer to find a discount though. Not sure if it's $300 a night worthy but a nice place to get away.
"Overpriced and full of themselves!"

Our stay in march was much anticipated. We had great expectations considering we paid almost 300.00 each night for our corner room. We were let down. This inn is very dated and has numerous issues besides decor. It is way overpriced for the area and compared to other hotels. It is in no way a resort. The view was nice. The trails are ok. The food is good but again overpriced. They ate so short staffed. And the majority of the staff is aloof and not polite, well spoken or knowledgeable. One lady, I believe the manager, Danielle was great. She helped us with things to do, gathered information and knew a lot about the Inn. She and our server Katie were the best that the inn at honey tun has to offer. For what we paid for one night and our dining we could have stayed at numerous other places that we have found far outrank this facility. They have a long way to go to meet their price point. And really need to upgrade their staff (who was the strange man sitting behind a desk all the time saying nothing, odd).
"Tranquil stay in Ohio's Amish country"

We came to get away for a few days and had a great time. The room is large and our view was awesome, over looking trees with the creek below. The King bed was very comfortable and the bathroom nicely sized with upscale amenities. Food was great but a little pricey, the continental breakfast was free and it is served to you, no buffet, but you can eat all you want. They do tend to take a hands off approch, so if you like to be greeted and talked to, you will not like it. They will answer any questions you ask and are friendly and helpful, but want to give you your privacy. It is adults only, no kids allowed at all. We used a TravelZoo coupon and made it very reasonable.
"Great place but could do with some polishing of the rough edges"

We had a great time here and I would definitely recommend it. I had booked a trip for my wife and I through Amazon Local, getting a movie Lover's Weekend package for a very good price compared to how much it would have cost without the deal. The location is great, very close to Berlin, OH and in the middle of Amish Country. There is also a massage spa right next door, which is very handy. Although the Inn does not yet have a gym it is being built and will include a sauna I think so that will be good for the return visit. We stayed in the club suite, which I highly recommend as it gets you access to the Tarragon Lounge and free appetizer and drink each evening of your stay. The suite we had was perfect, everything worked and was very clean, and the movie package contained lots of fun candy and snacks. The TV has a HDMI input and comes away from the wall on an arm so that was handy for plugging in my iPad, so we weren't restricted to the movie choices in the Inn. The coffee maker was useful and the fridge and all the other amenities in the room. There are nice short trails and some wildlife including a couple of cats, some sheep and lots of birds at the bird feeders. The service at breakfast and during lounging time was very good. The front desk staff were nice and polite. As others have noted in their reviews though, they are not all as terribly enthusiastic as I would expect. For being a first time customer I would have expected a bit more welcoming energy, and on leaving I would have expected to be asked how my stay was and given some encouragement to come back. Having said that I was quick to offer my feedback anyway - every interaction I had with staff I was positive and smiling and had a great response in return. There was no awkward service or anything like that. Probably the only thing which was difficult was the fact that the bill is structured for the Inn's convenience and not like how hotels tend to do it. So everything was lumped into a few categories like alcohol, food etc as opposed to by date/time and amount. Turning the bath water on was also a small challenge as there is a safety feature which is not obvious. Some instructions in the bathroom would be useful for that. I also have to say this, since other reviews mentioned it, the young man behind the front desk staff is very very quiet and rarely acknowledges what is going on. Rather than being offended by this I wanted to tell him he was a bit of a celebrity on the reviews. Being ignored by him was like being insulted by Joan Rivers, or getting told off by the Soup Nazi: amusing. I forced him to interact with me though and he was very pleasant and helpful.
"Tranquil setting for a relaxing stay in Ohio Amish Country"

This is not your standard inn; no cookie cutter approaches here. Rooms are unique and refreshing. Decide you want to unwind in your room with a bottle of wine? No problem; one is made available in each room for purchase. We had a delightful stay and so enjoyed watching the birds out our windows feeding in the multitude of bird feeders. The rooms are pretty expensive in season, but the off season rates are VERY reasonable and well worth the money. After a day of furniture shopping, it was the perfect place to relax. Our only complaint would be with the front desk staff. It seemed more important for the morning clerk to file away DVDs that other guests had returned than to check us out of our two rooms. All four of us just stood there with luggage in hand, as she worked on the DVDs. When one in our party commented that the maintenance staff should check the heating system in their room, because it kept them awake by clicking constantly all night, the clerk should have apologized. Instead she said, "Yeah, some of the heaters are like that."

We stayed here on as part of a 20th anniversary weekend we planned. The setting is truly beautiful, but we came away a bit disappointed. We found the front desk staff rather aloof and disinterested in their guests and the room, while adequate (Signature King) was sparsely furnished and the quality of the furnishings was below our expectations given the room rate. After unpacking and relaxing in our room for a while, we heard scratching and running sounds in the ceiling. This occurred repeatedly every 15-20 minutes or so throughout our stay. Something clearly was living above our heads in the rafters! Before going to dinner, I told the front desk clerk and she said she would have someone check things out, but nothing was done about it. The scratching was so loud throughout the night that it woke us up several times. Upon checkout, I mentioned it again to the front desk. Without looking up from her computer screen, the clerk nonchalantly said "oh that is just our resident squirrel." I am all for communing with nature, but if I wanted them running above my head while I slept I would have pitched a tent! If the staff is aware that critters are living in the rafters, I would think that they would address the problem as it can potentially present a serious hazard. Squirrels love to chew anything, including insulation and wiring, not to mention that they aren't too particular where they relieve themselves. On a positive note, dinner at the Tarragon was quite good and the service (Heather M.) was terrific. I do agree with the other reviews that it is a bit overpriced but that is often the case with hotel restaurants. Based on our overall experience, I really can't recommend this place. The price point should deliver a higher quality room and a much friendlier staff. Given the setting, we had high hopes that the Inn could be a regular stop for us, but I don't think we'll be back.
"Peaceful and Comfortable"

This may possibly be the 20th time I've stayed at the Inn and it was an outstanding experience. Three long-time friends and I decided to share two days here while exploring Amish Country. Our rooms were spotlessly clean, comfortable and quiet. We did encounter trouble with the free wifi, however maybe that was for the best. This is a place to unplug! It was delightful to meet Jason the owner (who personally came up to troubled-shoot our wifi) and have the opportunity to join him to bottle-feed the new lambs. As a seasoned guest here, I noticed that the hiking trails were in the best condition ever. The food a service in the restaurant was also some of the best I can recall. If you are looking for a serene and lovely place to rest, relax or reconnect with someone special, this is the place.

I saw this Inn on AAA and decided to get two nights to surprise my spouse for a birthday present. Beautiful location and we had the horse buggy waiting for us which was awesome. Unfortunately it had warmed up a few days previous to our stay and our weekend stay it turned cold again so no majestic snow just brown and cold, but we made the best of it. The Inn is really nice. The restaurant very over priced. It was delicious but too expensive. The bed was too hard for my spouse and I heard every one that spoke out in the hall or walked by our door. It was nice but would not go again.
"Tranquil...be prepared to relax."

I concur with the previous reviews of the Inn as it is very quiet and secluded and the surrounding countryside does roll up the streets around 6 PM so plan to relax, talk and take walks on the trails or read and snack on cheese and wine purchased from the local merchants. We also utilized a Living Social deal and the pictures on the deal did not match what we actually purchased, so that was a little bit of a let down. The room was very clean and the furniture dated but the surrounding woods are lovely and they have birdfeeders and squirrel feeders all over the property. I saw a beautiful black squirrel chowing down at a corn feeder. A memorable moment was driving on US 62 (super curvy like a roller coaster) and coming over a ridge and be greeted by a magnificent pair of Draft horses pulling a large wooden wagon stacked high with wood and the driver was an impressive Amish gentleman with a flowing white beard. Wow!!! The Inn offered a movie package and breakfast the next day. Movie package consisted of pop, beer, boxes of popcorn, chips, boxes of movie candy and our choice of DVD movie. The breakfast was great; eggs and potatoes, waffles, fruit, super yummy cranberry and orange scones, coffee and Mimosas. We were served exactly at 9 AM as requested the night before. The restaurant offers an interesting menu of beef, chicken, lamb, pork and fish dishes. The staff was very attentive and went out of their way to make us comfortable and relaxed. Some brochures on the Inn promote a spa, which they no longer have but did say they are putting in a European spa with a sauna in June 2014.
"Relaxing, but probably better during the summer..."

This was our first visit to the Inn. The location of the Inn is nice. It is tucked about 3 miles away from the shopping area of Berlin in a semi-secluded wooded area. There are several trails around the property, bird-watching, etc. Unfortunately, during the cold/wet months, these trails and outdoor activities are of little interest. And, with the fact that everything in the area closes by 6pm, you are limited to the interior of the Inn, itself. This is where you would need to plan ahead and bring things to occupy your time. Now, we stayed in a standard room within the Inn so I can not speak for other types of rooms. Our room was your basic hotel room - nothing special. Down the hall was a comfortable common area with nice couches, chairs, board games, a pool table, and a fireplace. The staff at the front desk was friendly and the hallways and common areas were quiet. There are no refrigerators in the rooms (at least in the standard rooms) so any cheese, meats, etc. that you purchase during your shopping in Berlin/Millersburg/Sugar Creek will need to be kept cool somehow. I would think in an area of wineries and cheese factories, small fridges in the rooms would be a nice investment. Also, perhaps a common-use microwave in the common area on each floor would be a nice, added touch. We did get breakfast delivered to our room as part of our package. It was scheduled to come at 10am and, when it didn't arrive, we called the front desk. The first time, we got no answer. We tried again at about 10:15am. They answered and our breakfast arrived a few minutes later. Apparently, the restaurant on the property had gotten busy - but you would think they would call your room to let you know about the delay rather than the guest having to call. The food (waffles, eggs, bacon, scones, coffee, OJ, potatoes) was good. Nothing extravagant, but good. Overall, the Inn is nice but nothing extra special. Again, I am sure during the summer the property can be better utilized. For less money, you can find other, comparable places with more amenities within a couple miles of the Inn (we've stayed at some of them). Before booking, do your homework and be sure the simplicity of the Inn is what you are looking for - keeping in mind that there is nothing to do in the Berlin area by early evening.
