Hotel de Point, an Ascend Hotel Collection Member - New York

When I first was looking at hotels in NYC, I was astonished by how astronomical the prices were ($250-$400 in the city). I was grateful to find this place because of the prices ($135/wknd, $111/weekday) and the facility seemed new. I would probably say the convenient thing about this place was there was free shuttle service to and from the 7 station […] in Main st. Flushing. I suppose it's not the most perfect neighborhood but I really can't complain--the market, eateries and spa were downstairs--I had everything I needed. The hotel itself was new and though I had to change rooms because of a vent being too loud in one of the rooms, I did not mind. Also, if you book online, just make sure they mark that your room's occupied. There may have been some confusion if not indicated otherwise--think there are separate bookings done via online (hotels.com) and reserving through Hotel de Point. TIP: When you're there, it does help to have the shuttle drivers' numbers, so you can call them if you need a ride. Their English isn't the best, but they usually show up 15mins after you call them (they don't mind stopping to pick you up from their route to and from, let's say, the airport). If going to the airport, though, I would call the front desk and book it directly with them. Read more

We needed 1 night during a layover stay by LGA. My wife thought the hotel was in a sketchy area of Queens. Hotel does not look like a hotel from the outside; it's above an Asian market and other businesses. Once inside, hotel is very nice, modern and clean. Staff was friendly. Modern, new, and clean. It was comprable with other hotels in the area, probably bc it is still relatively new. There was ample parking in front of the hotel but is shared with the supermarket within the complex. Hotel gives you a pass for overnight parking so its fine. Dont book this place for the view, but for the nice modern comfortable stay.

Hotel is difficult to find, GPS wouldn't pick up the address, and when I called, the person who answered wasn't very helpful in directing me to the hotel. The room was very clean, fairly attractive, ugly and frayed chair,, no pictures on the wall. Very nice window view but could not get window open for fresh air. Found a great deal on Expedia and it offered an airport shuttle so that's why I booked it. Unfortunately due to the hurricane, the shuttle wasn't operating and after some work, found out they would arrange for a car service. Too bad this ordeal took over an hour of my vacation time and didn't work out. The car service was confusing, put me on hold forever, […] and never picked me up. Ended up getting a taxi, wasn't too bad and asked the hotel to reimburse me for that expense since part of the amenities was airport transportation. The manager was reluctant to give it but the other worker said to do it but then she couldn't because I didn't have a receipt, who get's a receipt from their taxi ride?!? Recently opened. Still trying to figure things out. Have to stop at front desk to pick up vouchers for breakfast which is part of the stay. That's OK, but when I stopped to pick them up the rule is that the front desk person has to see everyone. That means that everyone in the party has to go to the front desk before they can go to breakfast. Cumbersome […] and insulting rule -- especially since it is a continental breakfast. Hotel is new and very nice. I stayed in a room with two double beds. The beds were very comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean and appealing. Room was a little cramped. The lobby was not easy to find. Turns out it was on the second floor, but there needs to be some way to inform guests as they arrive. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

A beautiful brand new hotel. We stumbled across by accident. Absolutely georgous! Very convenient to LaGuardia airport and Manhattan. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There is not a train station within walking distance, but they offer a shuttle to take to one. This hotel has a great location if you need to be near LGA airport or if going to the US Open, but other than that there is nothing to do in the surrounding neighborhood. It is beautiful, clean and the showers are great. The complimentary breakfast is not much - frozen bagels still in their plastic bags and cream cheese and packaged fruit cups. No coffee!! […] In room coffee makers, but we were only given 1 pod of coffee. My biggest concern though is the complimentary shuttle service. We were told it runs every half hour, but they didn't have enough room to make this work. The van only holds 6 people and both times we used it the van filled up and people were left behind for another 1/2 hour. Not good if you're trying to get to the A/P. Our room was brand new, completely clean and comfortable. Ordinarily this hotel in a nicer neighborhood would easily be 4 star. It's brand new. It's nice. It's hip. Verrry hip. It's Sexy. The tub is amazing. But it is not ready for business yet. It reeks of new sheetrock and plaster/compound. It needs to be cleaned up. Majorly. There was dust all over the bathroom floor that was construction dust. The floors […] needed to be scrubbed. There was no second mirror in the room or bathroom for the supermodel to paint her face in. The shower which is separate from the amazing tub was useless. It is so hip that it lost most of its functionality and I found myself getting seriously annoyed because I had to run around in the shower in order to get wet. The Bed was OK. All in all it was an OK place to get a couple hours of much needed sleep. I wouldn't mind trying it out again if they cleaned it up. I hope this critique has been constructive for all involved. We stayed here because it was close to the US Open Tennis & Shea Stadium. While convenient to the airport and both locations it needs help. It is brand new so they have a lot of kinks to work out. Staff was friendly and helpful. Lobby music is piped throughout entire hotel so even at 2 AM outside your room on the 4th floor there is music playing. A/C unit runs frequently which is annoying if you are tying to sleep. Rooms on 4th floor had a sky light which when the sun came up you woke up!! Bathrooms were amazing! Auf den ersten Blick erscheint das Hotel super modern.Man kann auf dem kostenlosen Parkplatz direkt am Hotel parken.Mit einem Aufzug fährt man in die sehr schicke Lobby.Leider gehen von da alle Gänge zu den Zimmern ab,es gibt keine Bar oder so,was das Ganze sehr klinisch wirken läßt.Das Personal ist freundlich und höflich.Das Zimmer an sich war schön,aber […] die Räume zu hoch,was im November dazu führt,dass man die Heizung ständig laufen lassen muss.Die Fenster sind ein Witz.Es zieht und den Verkehr hört man deutlich.Die Heizung ist sehr laut.Also frieren oder Krach.Ein Pluspunkt sind die Bettdecken,mit Überzug und fertig.Nicht 3 Laken,die sich ständig verknüllen.Die Lage ist schrecklich,Verkehr zu laut und wir haben direkt auf einen Strommasten geschaut.Im Zimmer gibt es zu viele Schränke,aber keinen Kühlschrank.Dabei gibts eine kleine Küche.Das von uns bestellte Kinderbett sah aus wie ein Käfig im Zoo!Sorry,aber auch die Kinder sollten sich wohl fühlen.Leider gibt es nur 2 teure Restaurants IM Hotel.Für Familien bieten sich die im UG gelegenen Imbisse an.Sehr sauber und günstig.Das Hotel bietet ein Frühstück an.Gegessen wird im SUPERMARKT,der im gleichen Gebäude ist!Es gab keine Kinderstühle,wir hatten Plastikgeschirr und Blick auf die Einkaufsregale.
