"Beautiful "old' China hotel"
This is a great example of a beautiful traditional Chinese hotel with authentic furnishings. The inner courtyard sets the tone with it's pond and well groomed landscaping. It has a very calming, serene feel to it, a lovely place to sit and relax. The staff is very welcoming and their service is outstanding. While we only stayed one night, this hotel is a jewel and I will return for a longer stay next time I visit Lijiang, China.

"Great location, lovely guest house"
Traditional guesthouse recently built on Lion Hill. Lovely antique furnishings throughout. Owner speaks excellent English and is very helpful. Rooms clean and comfortable but given wood build of house, the quiet depends on courtesy of other guests when they move around and talk in guesthouse. You can also hear the live music from the bar street below. We would not hesitate to stay here again given overall quality.

"Generally, a nice hotel just next to the old town."
It was a nice stay although the walk up to the hotel is quite a climb. luckily they do have porters who can assist you to manually carry the luggages up the hill.

"underbar utsikt"

01/19/16 Cat R Sydney, Australia
This hotel has a gorgeous set of tranquil courtyards and tea room, complete with goldfish and bonzai. Nice rooms with a great view. Pros: a great view, nice staff, free afternoon tea, larger rooms than Wuyi yard, heaters. Cons: night noise from bar street. Tips: impossible to find the first time so call when you hit the edge of the old city and they will pick you and your bags up, ring and book directly to get a much better price than through a booking service, bring ear plugs.

"Lovely hotel if you can find it, but the nightclub noise is incredible"
01/13/16 Carol S Dungog, Australia
We tried and failed to find this hotel due mainly to lack of signs, poor maps and confusing alleys. The staff sent out a rescue party, and smoothed out the frustrations with afternoon tea served with views out over old town. Now though at 10.30, Its out of the way location up the hill is not helping. The competing noise from the night clubs below is incredibly annoying.

"avoid"

Stayed in what they call a "suite",dirty, cold, plastic bathroom covered with hairs, shower who doesn't work properly stained sheets, and the horrible karaoke sound of the bar nearby until late at night, on the top of that unfriendly staff and just a boiled egg and cold coffee for breakfast. It was was a real nightmare.

"A surprising little hotel"
10/19/15 djoji Mannheim, Germany
the hotel is located in a side road in the historical center. even the main road is busy and noisy, you will find yourself in a quiet oasis. Furniture is traditional as the hotel itself. The staff is extremly friendly and helpfull to find your ways in and out the town center. Not to forget: you have a great view all over the historical center and the mountains. I enjoyed it very much and would return anytime again. Last thing to mention: simple but very good breakfast, the rooms are clean. the bathroom should be renovated soon.

"Great location and building, okay rooms..."

After ten days in Yunnan, I had just one night in Lijiang and was a little disappointed by this hotel. In terms of location - right at the top of the old town - it can't be faulted. Great views over the rooftops from the rooms on the second floor. The building is a treat with fishponds and views and lots of seating. Service is okay, although it was difficult to get guidance or recommendations on the area immediately around the hotel. Perhaps I have been spoiled by the other hotels I visited in Yunnan but I thought the rooms were ordinary, motel style. Clean linen, decent bed but no drinking water, no tea or coffee (a kettle but nothing more) and most importantly, not much character. Breakfast was just about okay - hard boiled eggs, toast, rice porridge - but it was a bit disappointing not to have some cooked to order options. All of this is fine of course if the hotel is just somewhere to flop at the end of a hard day's exploring and fighting your way through the crowds in the old city; if that's all that you're after then there are probably cheaper options.

"The staff take this lovely hotel to a whole new level"

This lovely little hotel has nice beds, crisp linen, clean bathrooms, lots of hot gushing water and a great ambience. And the staff are exceptional. Nothing is too much trouble - they were happy to book onward travel and more accommodation and they were exceptionally attentive toward my elderly travelling companion. Every staff member was charming and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable.

"Best Service..."

We stayed 3 nights. Upon arrival, you are greeted, served tea, and some light snacks in a well decorated room. The grounds is like a zen garden with fish ponds and multi-floors. The rooms were not large but clean and comfortable. The location over looks the old city and 5 min walk to the heart of town. The service all around was just great and they seem to cater to westerners. A few of the staff speak light English. The two draw backs was being so close to old town bar street, the karaoke noise goes until 11:30pm. Also the breakfast options were a little light, wish they offered more variety.

"Wonderful, old-world feel and great service at this hotel."

Recently spent three nights here (4/4/15-4/6/15) with my wife, daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter (age 1) and had a wonderful time. Situated in the old city of Lijiang, ZGH is small, rustic, and comfortable. The old city is very tight quarters for all the businesses and resident and the narrow streets can be loud and clogged with visitors. The ZGH feels like a BNB retreat from the bustle outside its walls. ZGH rooms are simple, on the small side (like much of China's non-western accommodations), but adequately furnished, and clean. What stands out is there service and personalized attention. Mu Li (I think she is the manager) was very helpful with answering our questions and getting transportation arranged as needed to the many great sites around Lijiang. Staff member, Yang Zhi Mei, was the kindest, most attentive we have ever met. Both Ms. Mu and Ms. Yang speak passable English and will patiently communicate with you until whatever needs, issues, questions, etc., are addressed. ZGH serves a nice continental breakfast each morning - fruit, rice porridge, eggs (upon request), tea, coffee, and other items. They serve afternoon tea with other treats each day, a welcomed feature for us!

"Beautiful Place"
02/27/15 makxberr Chengdu, China
We stayed here for 3 nights. Our entry into Lijiang was less than pleasant because we should have booked transport to this hotel from the train station, but the friendly owner and staff made up for that initial trauma. It's location on the hill gives a great view of the old town and is very close main areas of the old town. The hotel is full of Chinese character with beautiful furniture and objects. A lovely small courtyard with fish pond and plants gives the feel of being in a beautiful Chinese house. The sunflower snacks are delicious! The only thing that spoils this great small hotel is the breakfast. I imagine the foods served are more to the Chinese palate. I would highly recommend this hotel.
