This hotel is cheap and in general you get what you pay for. Room was ok, but the bathroom was not very clean. I showered with my flip-flops on, so that should paint the picture. If you like showering without having to hold the wand in your hand and sleeping on mattresses with a little bit of give in them, then this is not the hotel for you. I've slept on concrete that didn't hurt my back as much. The part of the shower that holds the wand upright was broken, we got the staff to fix it... kind of. Rooms are fairly clean. Bathroom could be much better-- lots of mold. Rooms are spacious but most do not have windows. Breakfast is mediocre and it is always very crowded. Staff is courteous but not overly helpful. Concierge lady is not very knowledgable of the city. Free wifi in the rooms is a plus.

Our hotel experience had been OK (not great, not bad) until our departure. The concierge failed to book a taxi for us as we had requested the previous day, and the desk clerk on duty at the time of check out made no effort to help us. Hotel Sentral Penang was amazing! Me and my brothers reached there around 10am in the morning and we thought that there were no rooms yet. However, 2 rooms were ready for us out of the 3 that I had booked. A bit out of Georgetown, but still walking distance to just about everything. Rooms are small but clean and well maintained. Staff very friendly, buffet breakfast has options and is decent enough. We got a good deal. For that, it was more than worth it. A recommended option to the more expensive places by the bay.

Our room had no view and was facing a white wall so even though it was night time, because of the glow of the wall, it felt like it was daytime. But that was remedied by the curtain. Clean, but a bit small room. I stayed here for 3 weeks with 3 children. Hotel workers are so kind and nice! Especally restaurant guys and lady.
