PRAO-KARIBEA HOTELS - Guadeloupe (islands)

My husband and I took the ferry to Guadeloupe from (our current home) Dominica. We loved the island and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Residence Turquoise! The room was very cozy and had a full kitchen! The location was perfect with an INCREDIBLE view of the Sea! If you are looking for an inexpensive yet quality room- stay here! There is no front desk or room service but this guest house provides the best "home base" for an active stay in Guadeloupe!

Large 3-story home with adjacent cabana used for breakfast area next to pool, in a quiet residential neighborhood a couple blocks from beach. I arrived very late and someone promptly showed me to my room. I had the large bedroom on top floor with balcony looking south over the Caribbean Sea. Small TV and weak wireless Internet signal. Owner was very gracious and bilingual.

This was a great hotel to stay at if you're not too picky. It is a short walk to the hotel beach which isn't the best on the island but a nice beach none the less. We had hot water on the first day and cold water the rest of the trip. We went during the off season so there were many items on the menu of the hotel restaurant that were not available. Each unit has a kitchenette which was nice. All in all I would stay there again.

This is a "location saisonniere" which means no daily cleaning of the apt, no 24/7 reception! But you could cook your own food, do some hand-washing (other units had washing machines but not ours). We liked it after the initial surprise (no info when I made the reservation). St Francois is a little harbor town, kind of like Paimpol in Brittany. More older couples but nice & quiet! Pool was very clean and fairly big. Close to restaurants & shopping and not too far from the beach. Harbor on one side of the residence and on the other side of the road, a golf course! Nice surroundings if you want to rent a car. For better beaches, stay in St Anne or Gosier.

Basic hotel in a great location, next to the best beach on Guadeloupe (Club Med/Caravelle Beach). St, Anne is one of the better places to home base as well. You (and the general public as well), have free access to Club Med's beach and there's no hassle (you just can't use their toys, beach chairs, etc.). This place is not fancy, and I would have loved better shower facilities (no hook for the nozzle ... completely hand held) but the staff is friendly, it's fairly clean, it has a small decent pool that no one used the whole time we were there, and it offers free wifi in the lobby.
