There's nothing fancy about the Travelers Rest Motel, but it was perfect for our purposes. Very clean, the staff is friendly and efficient, the beds are comfortable (the pillows, not so), and it's in the quieter part of the Lancaster area where the Amish buggys are still common. Breakfast is included, although we didn't take advantage of it. It has everything for an overnight rest, simple, somewhat dated, but clean. The hotel does not have front desk open for a late check it, but they can leave u a key. The breakfast area is small and gets crowded easily, but they have a decent selection of food.

Pleasantly surprised by this old-fashioned motel - clean, very nice staff, place well taken care of and room up to date. Breakfast more than satisfactory, and nicer than some in higher priced motels/hotels. There's a clean, quick and working waffle maker, choice of pastries, cereal, oatmeal, bagels, hard-boiled eggs, biscuits with gravy, fruit, yogurt, […] juices, milk, coffee and teas. Breakfast area is small but pleasant, & staff kept everything stocked and clean. New, curved shower curtain in room, and a shampoo dispenser! Great idea. The room had a small coffee maker, mini- fridge, and large tv. The downside: folks in neighboring room stayed up late and we could hear them clearly. Beware the walls are not thick. Also, the beds are hard. One or the other would have been ok, but together made me not get good sleep. Traffic noise really wasn't a problem, fortunately. I guess we should have asked for an end unit. The bathroom door was creaky (if you get up in the night you wake every one up). The rooms are non-smoking, but in the morning our room began to reek of cigarette smoke. Folks next door smoked right outside our door. Maybe a designated smoking area away from the rooms. I really wanted to love this motel, but can't give it a higher rating since I didn't get a good night's sleep. A newer pillow-top mattress and an end unit would have done the trick I think. Opened up the world of small family run motels to me...I always stay at those large chain hotels..but not anymore ! Amazingly clean...loved the chaises lounges on the front lawn to sit and watch the world go by ..as well as all the Amish Buggys. Included breakfast was great...everyone was so nice. I was rather disappointed. We had stayed at this Motel once before and had a great experience. The location was perfect as it was right down the street from where I was to be married. We made arrangements for our teenagers to stay for one night. When we met up with the kids on Sunday morning, they reported that the room smelled like cat urine, had 2 […] towels even though it had been arranged for 3 people, and there was no coffee available even though advertised. We have been to Lancaster many times, but have never stayed at the Travelers Rest Motel. We've always wanted to stay there and we're glad we did. The motel is near so many of the places we visit everytime we're in Lancaster (Kettle Kitchen, Kings, Country Road Flowers, etc.#. It was so convienent. We would walk around for a while and when we got hot […] #the heat index was in the 100's#, we went back to the motel to cool off. Also, it was nice not having to worry about the traffic and congestion #we usually stay out near Route 30#. The rooms were nice and along with the coupon to the Bird-in-Hand Restaurant #where we ate dinner#, the other coupons #which we didn't use#, and being able to use the pool at the Bird-in Hand Motel #which we did not do) it was a great deal.
