"Great place to stay"
We stayed for one night on our motorbike trip. It was on our route. Easy to find with sat nav. We were served tea and scones on our arrival. Nice chat to the host Pat. She even took the time to give us a lift to town. Bike stayed in garage. The room was clean and equipped with everything you need for a nights stay. Big bath tub! Good breakfast that […] kept us going through the day. Would stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Mick, Maureen and Malc from Yorkshire. Thanks for a most enjoyable weekend."

My partner, myself and a friend spent the weekend at John and Pat's Blaven B & B as we were attending a 70th birthday in the town. Pat welcomed us with open arms and couldn't have been a more perfect host. The rooms were spotles, comfortable and included lots of little extras eg: tea and coffee making facilties with biscuits and chocolates; hairdryer with attachments; shower gel, shampoo and sewing kits etc. The breakfast was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Pat and John were so knowlegeable about the local area and attractions. I would definitely recommend Blaven to anyone wanting to stay in Kirkcudbright and we hope to visit again in the future.

Very friendly and very helpful proprietors. The room was spotless, of a good size, plenty storage space and very comfortable. Good breakfast and good choice. Wi-fi connection available. Very quiet area. Homely atmosphere, one of the nicest places we have stayed and would have no hesitation in going back.

A wonderful place to stay and minutes away from centre of Kirkcudbright. Our room was spotless and breakfast delicious with plenty of choices. Nothing was too much trouble and Pat is a mind full of information & advice and makes you feel very welcome. Kirkcudbright is like a hidden gem & we would recommend Blaven to stay & look forward to returning.
"A well run and friendly B&B"

My wife and I were made to feel very welcome at Blaven. The proprietors were friendly and had excellent local knowledge. Our room was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was excellent. Wi-Fi was fast, which makes a change. Effort is obviously made to maintain a high standard. House is on the corner of Fergus and Brown in a quiet residential area. A pleasant 15 minute riverside walk from the centre of Kirkcudbright. We would certainly stay again.
"One of the best!"

One of the best B&B's I've stayed in. Clean, comfortable and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for Pat - she even lent me a pair of wellies when my sodden shoes failed to dry out. Knowledge of the area helped me a lot as I was looking for small villages and farms where my ancestors had lived. Would definitely go back.

"Wonderful Stay in a beautiful home"

From the first 10 minutes of being there, I was made to feel like the proprietor already knew me, with her friendly and warm welcome. The B&B is a lovely property, with lovely fittings and finished to a high standard. The bedroom (family room) was bright and airy - with en-suite, and comfortable beds. Coming down in the morning, we were asked what we would like for breakfast - and its a bespoke choice of what you wish. The owner prides herself on using local produce and the finished result was a beautiful breakfast fit for a king. If your travelling to South Scotland or cycling national route 7, I would try this place first for a reservation!

My wife and I have just stayed at the superb Blaven b & b in Kirkudbright for 4 nights (24 sept 2012). Wow. what can I say!! We have been thoroughly looked after by Pat for 4 nights in her lovely home which is only a 15 minute walk from the town centre (if you dont want to walk she will gladly give you a lift in and back again !) We had the double room that had a big en suite bathroom with sunken bath and shower (plus a toilet and wash basin of course!). The bed was VERY comfortable so we slept VERY well every night! It is the extra touches that make the Blaven stand out. Extras like Pats homely/friendly welcome throughout our stay, bath robes, grooming kit, large sewing kit , shoe shine, all the toileteries you can mention, hair dryer, tea coffee facilities, telly, tea and scones on arrival , large choice of breakfast ( including full cooked breakfast). TOP TIP - Try her yoghurt compot plus the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon....recommended! Local knowledge of walks in locality a bonus (Pat is keen walker and has large collection of O/S maps available to borrow). Also close to several "7 stanes MTB centres" so great for mountain bikes..... I am a born again biker so our newly purchased 650cc kawasaki versys was kept safe and sound each evening in the double garage !! My wife had bad toothache on the first day and, without hesitation, was taken by Pats husband John to a Dentist 10 miles away . Nothingwas too much bother. So, without hesitation, I would thoroughly recommend that you stay at the Blaven. We loved it and will be back. Thanks Pat you are a star!!!! and thanks for a lovely holiday....
