Friendly welcome at the door; spacious and comfortable room; helpful recommendations for evening meal and a superb breakfast. What could be better? We will definitely be back when we are next in the area. Thank you Pat.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great place to stay"
We stayed for one night on our motorbike trip. It was on our route. Easy to find with sat nav. We were served tea and scones on our arrival. Nice chat to the host Pat. She even took the time to give us a lift to town. Bike stayed in garage. The room was clean and equipped with everything you need for a nights stay. Big bath tub! Good breakfast that […] kept us going through the day. Would stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"One of the best!"

One of the best B&B's I've stayed in. Clean, comfortable and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for Pat - she even lent me a pair of wellies when my sodden shoes failed to dry out. Knowledge of the area helped me a lot as I was looking for small villages and farms where my ancestors had lived. Would definitely go back.
"Excellent, friendly B&B"

Great, very clean rooms. Fantastic breakfast and very, very comfy beds. The owner Pat was very welcoming and very helpful. I have already recommended this B&B to others :) Kirkcudbright is a lovely wee town.
"Wonderful Stay in a beautiful home"

From the first 10 minutes of being there, I was made to feel like the proprietor already knew me, with her friendly and warm welcome. The B&B is a lovely property, with lovely fittings and finished to a high standard. The bedroom (family room) was bright and airy - with en-suite, and comfortable beds. Coming down in the morning, we were asked what we would like for breakfast - and its a bespoke choice of what you wish. The owner prides herself on using local produce and the finished result was a beautiful breakfast fit for a king. If your travelling to South Scotland or cycling national route 7, I would try this place first for a reservation!

My wife and I have just stayed at the superb Blaven b & b in Kirkudbright for 4 nights (24 sept 2012). Wow. what can I say!! We have been thoroughly looked after by Pat for 4 nights in her lovely home which is only a 15 minute walk from the town centre (if you dont want to walk she will gladly give you a lift in and back again !) We had the double room that had a big en suite bathroom with sunken bath and shower (plus a toilet and wash basin of course!). The bed was VERY comfortable so we slept VERY well every night! It is the extra touches that make the Blaven stand out. Extras like Pats homely/friendly welcome throughout our stay, bath robes, grooming kit, large sewing kit , shoe shine, all the toileteries you can mention, hair dryer, tea coffee facilities, telly, tea and scones on arrival , large choice of breakfast ( including full cooked breakfast). TOP TIP - Try her yoghurt compot plus the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon....recommended! Local knowledge of walks in locality a bonus (Pat is keen walker and has large collection of O/S maps available to borrow). Also close to several "7 stanes MTB centres" so great for mountain bikes..... I am a born again biker so our newly purchased 650cc kawasaki versys was kept safe and sound each evening in the double garage !! My wife had bad toothache on the first day and, without hesitation, was taken by Pats husband John to a Dentist 10 miles away . Nothingwas too much bother. So, without hesitation, I would thoroughly recommend that you stay at the Blaven. We loved it and will be back. Thanks Pat you are a star!!!! and thanks for a lovely holiday....

"Best B&B in Kirkcudbright!"

Booked in the afternoon through Toursit Information - we would never have just come across this quiet place well off the main roads. Welcomed with tea and scones. Small B&B with a big welcome. The motorbikes even got in the garage!! Most comfortable en-suite room with a traditional breakfast - lighter if required - to set us up for a good days travel.

We had a great one night stay here. I expected less from a B&B but got much more. The room was really nice and modern, more like a upmarket hotel room. The owner was nice and friendly and the breakfast was great. Couldn't have asked for anything better.
"Great guest house"

Having had difficulty finding a guest house which wasn't full I called at one and asked if they could recommend anyone. They sent me to Blaven which was excellent - large and comfortable room, large en-suite with shower AND bath and nice room for breakfast. The breakfast itself was great - well cooked and plenty of it and view of the sea from the window. Pat was very helpful in accommodating special requirements including use of her fridge and freezer. I would happily recommend anyone to go there. Only negative which some people may want to know about is that there isn't a car park but since the house is in an estate well back from the main road parking on the street wasn't a problem.
