After a long and challenging day in Dar es Salaam we were met by friendly staff who bent over backwards to accomodate our needs. We enjoyed a splendid... meal and a few drinks at the well equipped bar and the management made every effort to ensure our stay was comfortable, and even offered to assist us with our early morning transportation requirements. The setting of the hotel, and the quaint ferry ride across the bay helps you forget that you are near the chaos of the city, and if I am ever back in Dar I would be happy to stay at South Beach again. by John from London on 06/07/12

We booked this place for one overnight in Dar Es Salaam. We thought it was close to the airport and it really wasn't and you had to take a ferry across an inlet to get to s. beach where this place is. Took us two hours to get there including the ferry time. If you have multiple nights to stay there, I think it would be a cool place to land yourself […] and get out of the city and hang on the beach. This place reminded me of a beach resort. Read more

First of all, it was a wrong choice I made while booking b'coz it is a Hotel for holidaying / relaxing whereas the purpose of my visit was business. The room looked good in pic. in the internet - which was the culprit; so I did not take any more pics. ! The rooms are not cozy ( the bed was full of insect drop outs ) & the shower & taps were not working, […] later I changed the room, which was slightly better for these items. However, in the evening this entire place was full of energy with music & dance with 100's of people all over the place ! Again, on Sunday the loud music starts in the morning which goes on upto 10.30 P.M. non-stop ! Then the approach from A'port / city is a nightmare as every time you need to cross the sea back waters by a ferry which would take > an hour on both directions. Also this place is very far from the a'port & they charge $50/- & $40/- to any other place in the city, whereas it is $3/- max. for all other cabs in city !! This is absolute cheating ! Read more

Mycket folk (daggäster) på helgen, då fanns även service. Beachen var bra och badvänlig. Rummen OK men saknade kylskåp. Daggästerna (mestadels unga vuxna tanzanianer) visade ingen hänsyn till barn i poolen. Hög musik spelade långt in på natten. På måndag försvann servicen, det fanns inte ens toapapper på toaletterna vid omklädningsrummen. Underbart läge på en bred sandstrand. God mat och bra service. Trevligt poolområde och en underbar utsikt från balkongen. Kan mycket väl tänka mig att återvända. Enda minus var toaletterna på rummen som måste fråschas upp.

Stranden hotellet ligger ved er veldig vakker, men hotellet er ikke til å skryte av - det er helt ok. Beliggenheten er vakker, MEN utrolig langt fra Dar es Salaam og veldig tungvindt å komme seg dit! Vi brukte hotellet som "lay over" og det fungerte dårlig..

Hotellet havde ikke internet. Kunne dog låne deres PC. Dejlig strand ikke muligt at snorkle. Mange dagsgæster. Ok hvis man har et par dage ellers vil jeg klart anbefale en tur til Zanzibar.

Ok hotell med underbart standläge. Resturangen är kanske lite mer matsal än resturang men maten är det inget fel på. På helger är det mycket dag/bad besökare och det spelas hög musik som kan vara störande. Vi var där över påskhelgen och poolen var överbefolkad från em till kväll. Det är standen som är den stora behållningen, den slår det mesta jag har […] besökt. En nackdel kan vara att det ligger lite off, dvs utbudet av butiker mm i närheten av hotellet är starkt begränsat. Avståndet till Dar es Salaam är ca 10km men begränsas av att man måste använda färjan vid Kigamboni, vilken kan ha 2 timmars väntetid även om färjan bara tar 10 min. Read more
