Bed too hard. Paint peeling in bathroom. Shower small. Bathtub curtain rod broken. Nice view. Room very spacious.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Without charm in a charming town!"
Read mixed reviews prior to booking a room. Arriving at the hotel, I walked into the office only to see the desk associate lounging in a chair with her feet up and almost stunned to see a guest. I requested a room with a view to the river and she politely said that all of their rooms had views of the river. My room was located in the phase adjacent […] the office. I opened the door and the room wreaked ...reminiscent of a guys locker room! I opened the back door and was pleasantly surprised to see streaming water and a beautiful bridge. The bedding is so old and worn thin that it really was beyond belief. The room and the bathroom are disgusting. Dated is one thing, dirty is another. The bathroom window is mold filled and the back of the bathroom door was nasty to the point of using every towel to handle the knobs. Incidentally, there is a sign on the bathroom wall requesting guests to use their towel more than once to conserve water. I found that quite amusing since I was the only occupant in the room and had to use every towel for sanitary purpose. I read in one of the reviews that the hotel was in the process of remodeling, however, I surely didn't see any. If the rooms in the tower had been remodeled, I wondered why they wouldn't opt to issue those instead of units in such distress, especially since the hotel was clearly empty. Gatlinburg is making great changes...so should the hotel before it is lost. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice Hotel with a view of the creek"
Great Hotel friendly staff. Clean rooms. We even saw a Bear run by the lobby while we checked in. Will be back again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Location was good but room was not the best."
Older rooms need to be updated. Good location and nice creek located behind the hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Needs some work"
The suite we stayed in was pretty clean but in need of updating. The grounds were nice and had a fun pool area. Would stay there again as long as I got a clean room.Genuine Expedia guest review

Very cheap price. I would stay agin if I was bringing my dog. Very cute & comfortable except our room smelled like it had been smoked in heavily for several years.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room had a strange smell as if something had soured in it. The toilet seat was broken and hanging off of the side. Light bulbs were burned out in several locations with only one out of four working in the bathroom over the sink.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't stay here!!!'"
Very much in need of remodeling . Dirty, dirty, dirty!!!!!! You should remove this motel from your list of hotels in Gatlinburg!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice place to stay"
I really enjoyed my stay at Brookside. The elevator needs some work but everything else was great. I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our room type was overbooked so they called us to see if we were ok with adjoining rooms, extra room on them. We thought this was a great idea till we arrived to the hotel after 9pm and found the rooms not to be adjoining but next door to each other. I have 3 small children so this was not an option. Because of this it was well after 11pm before we […] found a hotel that had a room for us in the area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a 2.5 Star Hotel"
The first room we were given was in a building not connected to the rest of the hotel. We had to drive back onto the road to get to it. It was obvious that we were being sent to an old run down motel that the Brookside had annexed when it went out of business. It is obviously not depicted in any of the pictures. As we hauled our luggage up to the second […] floor (no elevator), we were barked at by dogs from almost every room we passed. When we went into our room, the 'pet' smell was unbearable. There was also a pizza box in the room. I tried the phone to tell the office that I would not stay in this room, but it didn't work. We hauled the luggage back down the stairs and went to the office. After the complaints they gave us a room in the real hotel on their property. The place they first sent us to was the pet building. We did not have a pet, and I believe we were only sent there because we got a deal on Expedia. The second room we were given was nice back in 1965. It had a fireplace and other amenities, but hasn't been updated in at least 30 years. The lampshades and everything was dingy from age and old cigarette smoke. It was a non-smoking room. Towels had other people's hair all over them. We had the same issues with the elevator in this building as others have reported in their reviews. I rarely write negative reviews on the internet, but this hotel is not accurately represented on Expedia, and we need to protect the integrity of the system. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not all it was advertised to be."
Expedia ad said it had elevators. Only 2 of the buildings had elevators. There weren't any elevators in the building our room was in. It had an exceedingly steep ramp outside to access the 2nd floor. As I am in my 70's and my husband is in his 80's, it was a struggle to get our luggage up that ramp. The refrigerator door in the room would not stay closed […] without something up against it. We reported it the 2nd day, but no one ever came to repair it. When we called the office, they did not know where the ice or vending machines were. We never obtained ice the whole 5 days we were there. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We had a good visit to the city, but the hotel really needs some work. The room smelled of chimney smoke and when walking on the carpet our feet were black. It says on the website where they were updating the hotel, but our room still had dark wood paneling, dark carpet, and the area in our room where the mini fridge was left much to be desired. All […] in all, it was dark. The paneling needed a major dusting as well. We stayed on the fourth floor. And although the view was beautiful from the balcony, my toddler could fit through the bars!! If you have smaller kids definitely ask for a lower level. (Thankful I had a close eye on him). The grounds were lovely and perfect for kids playing outside. The pool was a lot of fun and refreshing on a hot day. The pool deck needs some work. There are areas that need to be refinished. Be sure to wear swim shoes or you may have a few cuts on your feet. The location is perfect. The trolley picks up right in front of the property. Or if you choose, it is a short distance into town. I really hope they continue to update this facility. It could really be a spectacular place to stay and vacation, but with so many other choices in the area for the same price, there are other options. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Showing it's age"
I was a little surprised when we arrived. The Internet portrays it prettier than it really is. You can tell it is starting to show its age. If you want to stay closer to town pick another location. IGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice place to stay on vacation!"
We really love the private balcony on the backside of the motel over looking the rolling waters of the brook!Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was old and it showed, the folks that greeted us was friendly, the room was clean and that is the important thing to me.Genuine Expedia guest review
No ice machine in building. Stain in ceiling. Beautiful creek view from balcony but balcony was dirty and spider webs everywhere. Only had maid service 2 times in 4 days and had to stop her those times. Maid could not speak English. Shower did not maintain constant temperature.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good location, pleasant view from the balcony."
Enjoyed our stay very much, loved the high ceilings and spacious room. Felt more like a cabin than a hotel and we were very happy with the layout of the room and the jacuzzi, jacuzzi could have been a little bigger. We intend to come back later this summer.Genuine Expedia guest review
"first vacation in years"
My husband works a lot of hours and rarely takes time off and we both deserved some time. This was the most peaceful relaxing stay I have ever had. He was able to relax, even turn off his phone, and we enjoyed ourselves so much. The resort was beautiful and peaceful and we loved it. There was also plenty to do within walking distance or driving to Pigeon […] Forge, either one. Great location. Thank You! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A most comfortably romantic spot"
Located right off the main Gatlinburg strip so it was close enough to walk to the arts and crafts district, but also directly on the trolley route. It was nice and quiet with a great view. The room was spacious and cozy at the same time. It had a fireplace with wood and paper to burn, a nice island kitchen including a stove, and the bathroom was large. […] The shower/jacuzzi tub were perfect after all the hiking and shopping. The private balcony overlooking the brook was wonderful with 2 chairs and a table, except our light didn't work. There was also a beautiful 3-way mirror on the desk in the living room across from the comfy king size bed. The closet right next to the bed was large too with a security safe, and suitcase stand. There were mirrored doors on the closet which were right next to the bed which added some spice to the romance if you know what I mean. Overall it was a great place to stay and I would definitely recommend it to others! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel near downtown"
Had a great time. Will stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Very inpressed with the overall hotel, location, and aminaties. Our room was large & comfortable. Loved the veranda w/table & chairs over-looking the creek. Good to have a hot breakfast, swimming pool and room to walk-in-a-park-like setting. Only a few minutes to main town, but quiet at night. Note: Laundry room on 2nd floor....VERY INCONVIENT.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel staff was very friendly. Stay was good. Stayed in double bed room.Room was clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The place us very dated, there were cobwebs all over the railing overlooking the brook so we couldn't hardly lean over to see the brook, also the outdoor furniture was very dirty. We killed a bug off my Mom's pillow. The bathroom is so old and dingy. We will not be back.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not what I was expecting"
The room had an odor. The sheets would not stay on the bed. They didn't fit. The private balcony left a little to be desired. The chairs and the table were dirty. The shower has no pressure. We were able to keep our dog so that was good.Genuine Expedia guest review
The room and service were both good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very out dated, but the bubbling brook outside your balcony makes up for it. Very clean and the bed was comfortable. Spacious room. A nice fridge, microwave and coffee pot. I will stay again. A nice 15 minute walk to all Gatlinburgs action.Genuine Expedia guest review
We loved the large room with the wood-burning fireplace. The little kitchen area was nice, and the bed was very comfortable. The balcony overlooking the brook was peaceful. The room was clean, and the people in the lobby were friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
When we arrived, no one was at front desk. Probably waited about 10 minutes, I even yelled for someone. Room was very nice. Sink in kitchenette area didn't work. Loved the sound of creek directly behind building.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel on the river"
The hotel was showing its age,but everything was as it should be. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the river walk was amazing. I would recommend staying there again .Genuine Expedia guest review
Stains were on the carpet, sheets, along with cigarette burns and the room smelled of mildew. They did not state it was pet friendly, or that they would ask you to reuse the towels and wash cloths, but you didnt have to.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Decent hotel, furniture smelt of cigarette smoke"
Quiet location, by the brook. Room was clean and comfortable. Although old furniture and bedding. Only disappointment was a distinct smell of cigarettes smoke in the room...possibly was a smoking room at some point in the past.Genuine Expedia guest review
The amenities in the room is a little bit old and it smell bad, which made me suffer from insomnia.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Older property that needs more attention"
Attempts have been made to update this older property, but not enough to make it comfortable. Our non-smoking room was sprayed with the kind of smell used to cover up years of previous cigarette smoking that is very unpleasant and was re-sprayed each day. Updated shower enclosures with spa tub, but gross-do people actually roll the dice on the bacteria […] lurking in whatever is growing in the water left inside the hoses between uses-yuck! Old, broken off soap holders and towel racks, old metal toilet paper dispensers, dim light bulbs. It felt like we were staying in a cave. We tried to only go back to the room at night because we did not feel relaxed there. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, the headboard banged the wall anytime we moved-very uncomfortable stay. This is a bare bones place to hang your hat and no more. The pool area looked great for a family stay-4 pools with 2 slides for the little ones, but those were all closed including the hot tub and the website had not mentioned the closure dates. I actually chose this property over another one because it had a hot tub and the other property I was considering said their hot tub was closed during the month we stayed. We will not be back. "Loved this hotel!"
My sister and I LOVED staying here. We were in an older part of the hotel on the first floor. Yes, the rooms were dated, but they had character (and I mean that in a positive way). The back door opened to a porch and a babbling brook that provided a heavenly and soothing backdrop for sleeping. The two beds were super comfortable. There were a small […] fridge and a microwave in the room, but we did not use them. We did, however, use the coffee the next morning, and enjoyed a small breakfast in the breakfast room that included bagels, juice, cereal, biscuits and gravy, good coffee, etc. The walk downtown was approximately 10 minutes, and the hotel was uphill from the bustle of the downtown area. The artist colony is up the street, about 10 minutes by car. Yes, the hotel rooms were dated, but they were spacious, had a clean bathroom, and were comfortable. Oh, don't forget to hit the karoake bar up the street that serves great food! Would definitely like to return to this hotel! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Balcony room right on river"
We enjoyed our stay. The river runs right by the balcony, really pretty. Gatinburg itself, is a little tacky, Not as bad as Pigeon Forge Las Vegassy tacky. But the Smokey Mountains National Park was spectacular and well worth the diversion from our trip.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Spring Break Fun"
Well when we first arrive at the hotel, our room wasn't ready. I knew it wouldn't be cause we arrived 2 hours early. But went out and did some touring. The hotel is about 15mins from Dollywood and other attractions, so that was great. Easy to find and the customer service was very nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A low-end motel in a sea of motels outside smokies"
This is an OLD motel; The rooms have ancient furniture, no modern amenities, and do not reveal any aesthetic consideration on the part of the staff. Literally, the bare bones. But our room was clean, so I suppose it fits the bill for a budget place. The staff left the key and instructions out for us since we arrived late, so they were organized. Breakfast […] was perfectly decent for a low-end place. I suppose in the future, I'd pay another $10 which would probably bump one up into the more renovated places like a Comfort in, etc. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
