Quiet in pleasant surroundings. Double room rather small but more than adequate for an overnight stay; clean, especially ensuite area. Bed comfortable but duvet could have been wider to comfortably cover two people. Breakfast area - self-service - clean and bright with a good variety of food, continental style. You get what you pay for. Really cheap if your are looking for a short stay. Does have a good car park space. The room was clean, and had wifi. However, you do have to share the toilet which wasn't that bad for me. The room did have a sink which was better. Overall good for the cheap price.

I've had good experiences with this B&B/hostel in the past, but it now seems to be run by a rather unfriendly couple and standards have gone downhill. This is not a hotel it is a boarding house, an ex care home morfed into a boarding house. Very bare, extreemly noisy, no atmosphere. no en suite facilities in the room I stayed in, the bathroom was down the hall! Is this 2012?

The Hotel was clean everywhere - the Owner was charming and polite. Our room was very clean, quite basic but good linen and towels - all white and freshly laundered. This hotel was once an assisted living home and was reopened in March as a hotel. The hotel is extrememly well priced and comes with an amazing self-serve breakfast. The hotel manager is extrememly obliging-When you can find him. He was readily available when I checked in; however upon checkout I searched/waited for about ten minutes and was finally […] loud enough to get his attention from a back room. (The place is like a labyrinth and he is the only staff I ever saw.) Overall, the hotel is a great pick for a variety of people. The rates are great for solo travelers and students, the hotel has a bed and breakfast feel that the older guests seemed to enjoy, and the set-up is very kid friendly. There is a big yard out back and the manager's own grandson (I believe) is usually playing outside or tottering around the dining room. Bathrooms are currently undergoing rennovations but there are mulitple bathrooms scattered throughout the complex so if one isn't to your liking chances are there is a fine one down the hall. For a cheap but comfortable overnight stay in Cambridge, the Shelford Lodge is ideal. Rooms are small but adequate and not all rooms have an en suite. Coffee and tea available from the breakfast room throughout the night. Breakfast was continental with a good selection of cereal and fruit. Would stay again!

This is a simple hotel but friendly and comfortable. The owner is great and there is a good feel to the place. It is basic and unpretentious, some rooms only have access to a shared bathroom, but I felt more at home here than at any Expresslodgepremiertravelmotel.

The room was extremely basic, the windows didn't shut properly and there was visible dirt in the room. I had access to a shared bathroom which was disgusting! It was dirty when I got there and wasn’t cleaned for the duration of my 3 night stay. There was hair and dirt all over the floor, the shower didn't have fixed sides, only curtains, so the floor […] was permanently flooded after people's showers as it was not cleaned up. For two days there was no hot water, so I couldn't shower if I wanted to and there was no explanation or apology from the owner about it. The location of the B&B was extremely inconvenient if you didn't have a car. I asked the owner if there were shops nearby to get something for dinner, as there was a microwave guests could use for evening meals. I was told there was a village shop and a small supermarket 'just down the road' however it was a 45 minute walk away or a bus ride costing several pounds. There are also no restaurants or pubs nearby. Breakfast was unappealing and the food was left out 24 hours a day which guests helped themselves to in the mornings. I avoided breakfast as I was dubious about the food hygiene standards and the food didn’t look very fresh. There was a bus stop outside with regular services into Cambridge, which took about 40 minutes because it was not a direct bus. Overall this was not a very welcoming place, was very unclean and in a poor location with no customer service, so take my advice and don't stay at the Shelford Lodge! Read more

Excelent! The double bed room and ensuite was clean and tidy with a nice garden view. A multi plug so we could charge all our devices, clean towels and shampoo and soap etc... Breakfast in the morning was excellent, toast, cereal, fresh fruit and yoghurt, tea, coffee, and the owner offered to cook us eggs if we wanted! Was served until 10 am also so […] didn't have to get up to early! It is about 10 minutes drive from town centre, if you have a car (free parking at hotel also) parking in town wasn't to expensive, matey about 10-12 quid for the day, if not there is a bus from outside the accomodation straight in to town centre. Det stod 4 km från Cambridge men tog ca 30 min med buss från Cambridge centrum. Vi fick aldrig se de anställda även om vi ringde på mer än en gång och till och med letade efter dem. Rummet var hyfsat rent och ganska bekvämt. Tyvärr fungerade spolningen på den ena toaletten väldigt illa samt att rengöringen på toaletterna skedde ganska sällan. Not a family or business hotel so be warned! Didn't see a single member of staff during our three day stay. Room key found on a hook near the entrance. NO EN SUITE. 3 shared bathhrooms with around 15 other rooms. Sheets and towels not changed in three days - room not serviced either. We hebben Shelford Lodge gebruikt als onderdak. Eenvoudige kamer, niet geventileerd, geen prullenbak, sanitair op de gang. Heel eenvoudig ontbijt. Bovendien ver (5 km) van Cambridge als je niet met eigen vervoer bent, Wij hebben gefietst en dat was met goed weer ook wel weer leuk. Wi-fi was uitstekend.
