"Narrow gauge inn"
The inn was so cute. The room was quaint, but nice. Very clean. The staff was accommodating and super friendly. The breakfast was to die for, so delicious. The cook was more than willing to go above and beyond. The inn is tucked away in the woods, and the scenery is so beautiful. It makes you feel like you are in a fairytale. Downsides, the pool and […] hot tub are closed in the winter. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Top Notch Hotel with a View"
This place was great. The staff was very friendly. The room was clean and had charm. The mountain view from the back porch was terrific. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The hotel itself is incredibly close to Yosemite. Would highly recommend this place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great stay. Great location. Plan to stay again."
We stayed for 4 days over the Thanksgiving weekend. The Inn is lovely and quaint, rustic, located a little ways from Yosemite entrance and about 10 miles from Oakhurst. It was too bad that the restaurant was closed for dinner, although breakfast was great with a variety of choices, including waffles with strawberries and whip cream.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Had a lovely time. No problems.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Inn but thin walls"
Overall stay was great. Checked in was simple and greated by "Knuckles" the cat. Room was ready and clean. Had a great breakfast in the morning that is marketed as a continnental breakfast but is far beyond that. Lady in resturant is very nice and will make waffles to order. Only thing that I disliked is that the walls are very thin so you can hear […] the conversation in the next room. Other than that the stay was very pleasant. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Room is to small for a king sized bed, both my wife and I are bruised from contact with solid wood bed frame that the mattresses sit in.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Woodsy retreat was quiet but in need of updating"
One of the lower priced hotels near Yosemite but it was a 45 minute ride to the main areas and way overpriced for this outdated room.Genuine Expedia guest review
Food was great. Rooms have a great back porch. Dining room is very rustic in a good way.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
cute little place with a lovely staff but it was quite old and very warmGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location near Yosemite"
Great time and loved the breakfast, especially the Belgian waffle with strawberries! Only thought was the room had a slight odor but opened the screen door to the balcony (rocking chairs were nice touch) and that seemed to help let some fresh air into the room. Appreciated the hot tub after a long drive.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very comfortable hotel close to Yosemite"
excellent restaurant, very cute hotel, very clean hotel and outside areaGenuine Expedia guest review
"Like staying at Grandma's"
Fitting for Yoaemite - quiet, rustic, antiques, but modern with wi-fi and flat screen. Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Breakfast included was ok. Very convenient location to Yosemite.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Close to park and very friendly"
Easy access to Park and they were nice to my dog. What else could I ask for except the bar could've opened earlier.Genuine Expedia guest review
We loved the narrow gauge inn. It was very close to the sequoias which was very convenient. The inn is surrounded by the beautiful trees in the park. The room is quaint but very clean. Also every room has a patio overlooking a stunning view. We loved the continental breakfast too! We would come back again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A few miles south of Yosemite south gate on 41"
Proximity to the south entrance of Yosemite, Wawona, and Mariposa Grove makes this a great location. Staff was super friendly, each room has it's own private deck, the included breakfast is sumptuous. Quiet and peaceful, with walking trails around the grounds. Guidebooks for Yosemite available in the room or for purchase in gift shop. Overall a great […] value. The pool and jacuzzi were not yet opened as of April 18. They opened the seasonal restaurant and bar while we were there...weren't sure if it would be good but gave it a try on our last night. It was superb! Prime rib, great wine choices, local produce...probably the best place to eat in the Fish Camp general area. We will be back! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Wonder in the woods"
Had a wonderful romantic stay at the Narrow Gage Inn. The room was clean, the view was fantastic, and breakfast was great. The staff were very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. The only negative was the thin walls when we could hear the people next door. Location was perfect as staging area for our trip to Yosemite.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Beggars can't be choosy"
First of all, given the limited options for places to stay in/around Yosemite, I am sure this place is fine. It is generally on the high-middle end of hotels and relatively comfortable. Our primary problems arose with the smell of the room, which began as a strong smell of grandma and grew into an almost unbearable odor of diapers over the course of […] the evening. We would have spoken to management, but the office closes at 8:00 pm. Also, the shower is not suitable for anyone over 200 lbs, as it was the smallest standing-room-only shower I had ever seen. My final complaint was that, in spite of wonderful, warm weather, the restaurant/bar, pool, and jacuzzi were not open (all winter). Otherwise, the hotel was fine. The perks it did include were a private balcony with rocking chairs, a flat-screen TV, a large bed, and an updated sink. Also, we had access to a stack of books about Yosemite (in-room) and the office sold beer and wine, not to mention the soda machine was giving out 2-for-1 sodas (I think it was busted). The employees were also very friendly and helpful, and the continental breakfast was very good. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location for Yosemite, Very Helpful Hosts"
This hotel is an excellent location for visiting Yosemite sites - it is just 4 miles from the Southern entrance to the park, near Wawona trailheads. While it is still about 45 minutes from Yosemite Valley, the only way you'd be closer is to stay within the park, which books far ahead of time and can be quite pricey. The room was in good condition and […] very comfortable (quaint, not modern - except for the new flat screen TV). The owners were so kind and helpful - and made a delicious hot breakfast buffet! Great quality for the rates. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to Yosemite"
Very nice big room with forest view from balcony. Breakfast very disappointing - paper plates, plastic cutlery, limited menu, and breakfast room so small there is a queuing system to get a table - not at all commensurate with the fairly high room rateGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Inn Very Close to Mariposa Grove in Yosemite"
Very friendly staff... had a comfortable room with a nice balcony nestled in the Sierra National Forest. It was a very relaxing place to retreat to after hours and hours of hiking in Yosemite. Looking forward to coming back!Genuine Expedia guest review
It was fantastic! The hotel is beautiful and very close to Yosemite and the Mariposa Sequoia Grove. The included breakfast is delicious. The only downside was the room took a long time to warm up.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a very pleasant stay in Nov. They are very attentive. Breakfast was good with varieties. Room and the whole facility was clean and quite. The only drawback is it's location - a little far from the main attractions.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Very thin walls"
Room was great. Staff were great. But the walls are paper thin. Could hear the guy snoring in the room next door. If you stay here, bring earplugs or a white noise machine.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great little place!"
The Narrow Gauge is definitely "rustic" and the rooms are no frills, but they are clean and comfortable. The surrounding area is gorgeous. We even had a little balcony off of our room to take it all in. The complimentary continental breakfast is a lot nicer than I expected. They seem to only ever seem to have one person working on the desk (who also […] doubles as cook and server during the breakfast hours), so sometimes we had to wait quite awhile to get service, but they were always friendly and accommodating. "Wonderful, quaint, comfortable."
I loved this place. The rooms are straight out of 1950's architecture for resorts, and I expected Ricky Ricardo to walk in at any moment. The Inn is up to date with very comfortable beds, attractive furniture, and well maintained gardens. The gift shop is fun, and the breakfast was good and cheerful! My only advice is that the walls are a bit thin, […] as I had two "Quaking Aspens" in the next room. After 10pm, the night manager will take thoughtful but meaningful action to calm down any noisy Lovebirds. Other than the walls, the place was a charmer and a good value. I plan to stay here again and share this with my friends! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Nice little spot right outside of Yosemite. Nothing fancy but very comfortable with breakfast buffet included. Great overall value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The host of the hotel was so kind and helpful. The continental breakfast was beyond what we expected. With made to order waffles, coffee, fresh potatoes and more... it exceeded my expectation. I had a wonderful relaxing time and the location is great! I would highly recommend to anyone exploring Yosemite.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cute, cozy, and beautiful surroundings"
All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend. Although the room was small, it was well-furnished and had a deck with a beautiful view. The bed was very comfortable, and coffee and tea were also available in the room. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with questions I had about the area. Sadly, the restaurant was closed during […] my stay but the continental breakfast was good. This hotel is in a great location for someone who is visiting Yosemite park. It's only a 15 minute drive to Mariposa grove and about 45 minutes from Glacier Point. I would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Enjoyed stay, a few minor problems like the bathroom door wouldn't stay closed and an ashtray full of butts sitting on the balcony when we arrived. "Near Yosemite South Gate"
Stayed three nights during visit to Yosemite, it is only a few miles from the South Gate. Enjoyed our stay very much and ate in the restaurant on all three evenings. Menu and staff were very good. Purchased packed lunches one day. These were very adequate and good quality. Breakfast, complementary, in the office/shop area was quite cramped but tables […] were available outside and made for an enjoyable experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Narrow Gauge Getaway"
It was excellent. Very quiet, within distance to all that we wanted to do and see! Loved sitting out on the rocking chairs on the balcony! The hotel setting just fit with the feel of Yosemite and walking distance to the Sugar Pine Railroad was very convenient. For sure on our return list!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"So cute and comfy!"
The room was adorable! Very clean, very comfortable, very homey! The only thing that bothered me was a funny smell... Most likely coming from the swamp cooler, but it was easily aired out. The lady that works the night shift is super nice and explains how everything works very thoroughly! If your looking for a comfortable place to stay near Yosemite […] this is perfect for you! "As good as you get just a few steps from Yosemite"
Pros: Fabulous food at the restaurant with excellent wait staff. Nice continental breakfast, stocked with things like trail mix to take into Yosemite. It is 2 miles from the SOUTH entrance to Yostemite (note: sequoia grove is close, Yosemite Valley is a solid hour drive - still options are few and far between). The hotel is obviously older, but has […] been remodeled with flat-screen TVs and very comfortable beds. The staff is friendly and the gift shop is reasonably priced (postcards are only 35 cents!). Cons: the TV didn't work for the first day and the room smelled just a tiny bit of cigars (smoking is allowed on the balconies, I guess, yuck). Overall, a great experience. Would definitely go back. "Exceeded our Expectations!"
My husband and I stayed here while honeymooning in Yosemite becuase we didn't want to pay for over-priced lodging in the valley. The Narrow Gauge Inn is very charming, has a fantastic restaurant with excellent food, and is well worth the extra few minutes it takes to get to the park. You have to try the venison!Genuine Expedia guest review

"Narrow Gauge Inn Review"
Very nice place to stay! This is not a 5 star hotel but it is clean and in a beautiful area. Very close to Yosemite but without the crowds. The staff was great! They served a nice breakfast in the morning where we ate outside among the trees which was part of the price. I would highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to Yosemite.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Solid hotel choice near Yosemite"
It's a decent place to stay near the southern entrance to Yosemite. Cute and well-maintained, it seemed to be a landing point for a lot of families. It is a solid 45 minute drive to Yosemite Valley, so not a REAL convenient location if that's what you're there to do. However, it was very isolated so be sure to stock up on supplies (food) if you are […] going to be there for more than a single day. The restaurant (which we did not visit) seemed extremely expensive. The continental breakfast was well-stocked but a bit sparse. We ended up driving into town on the second day to get some lunchmeat and fruit to supplement the carb-heavy breakfast. I'd suggest others do the same, but there's no fridge in the room. Loved it. Cute decor, nice view from our room. Close to Yosemite. I will be staying there again! Restaurant was very upscale and food was very good also. Nice atmosphere.Genuine Expedia guest review
Even though the rustic location and nature of this property are a plus, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. For the price, rooms are small and bathrooms are diminutive. Bed comfort is disappointing. If you do choose to stay here, beware of room location. I was checked into unit 30 where there was an ungodly loud compressor noise emanating from beyond one […] of the walls. Staff was unapologetic when I informed them of this unacceptable "feature." Overall, you will do better finding cheaper and better accommodations in Oakhurst. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Very Pleasing place to stay"
Over all, we had a great time and enjoyed our stay. The staff and management were courteous, and excellent customer service. The only issue was the bed, VERY HARD and hard on our hips. The towels seemed to be old and small in size.Genuine Expedia guest review
