Very clean hotel but you hear everything in your room. The neighbors, the people in the hallway and even two floors down in the restaurant.

Not too many options for breakfast and difficult yo find a table. Room was very small but very clean. Prices at the restaurant are much higher than outside and we were charged 20% more for high season plus tax plus service charge. Hotel is very well located. Book a taxi back to the airport in advance.

My friend and I arrived at 10am and they were able to have a room ready by 12pm which was great! However, once we got into our room, it was small, with a clear glass pane separating the bathroom and room and a window looking out into the hallway of the stairs. Essentially, every time we used the bathroom or shower, we had to roll down a window shade […] for some privacy. Plus, we weren't able to open the curtains to the room unless we wanted everyone to look inside our room....not very smart planning or convenient. Our toilet overflowed on the 2nd day and they had maintenance fix it within the hour. Check out on 1/4/13 was uneventful however we were to return to the same hotel on 1/5/13 after a Ha Long Bay trip. At our second check in, we were told that they were over booked (we booked through Hotels.com both times) and had to transfer us to another hotel in their same group with the same amount of stars. They offered to drive us to the airport, however we already had arrangements so they provided a set dinner for us worth $12 per person. (We actually ended up splurging on ~$20 of drinks). We also had the option of having breakfast at our original hotel in case we did not like the breakfast the new hotel provided. Breakfast at Goldent Silk was great. All in all, moving to the new hotel was a good experience since we were hoping to not go back to our original room and we didn't have to worry about our last dinner in Hanoi. Read more

The hotel really looks good from the outside and service was great, but the rooms were so poorly designed. I felt like staying in a coffin without any exterior window facing outside. The room was very small with one tiny window facing the inside hallway!! most of the rooms are this way unless you pay a lot more for a few available front rooms where […] you can actually have exterior windows. The bathroom looks nice until one actually uses it. It is all see through glass wall so you constantly have to manually roll the blind down once you are inside and having to roll it back up to exit....it does gets old after a few uses. Read more

The hotel is located near the old quarter and a few minutes walking distance to the Lake. The reception staffs are fabulous and friendly. Some rooms are tight but does have a desk, mini bar (which is free) and smaller bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. There are no windows in some of the rooms and rooms are relatively dark as a result. Most disappointing […] is the bathroom, the bottom of the shower curtain was not clean and partly coated with mildew. The bathtub area was designed and built incorrectly. When we took a shower water filled all three sides of the bathtub and overflowed onto the bathroom floor. We had to ask for extra bath towels each day and laid the towels around the bathtub edges to prevent water flow onto the bathroom floor. Breakfast is reasonably good with both Asian and European flavor. We do not recommend this hotel if the bathtub area is not fixed and also this is not a hotel for those who are claustrophobic. The shower screen leaked, so it was a battle to keep the bathroom floor dry and the traffic noise was quite loud, we were at the front of the building so that was expected. When the weather was overcast the television had poor picture quality. Overall though it was quite good.

Overall the hotel is nice and the room is comfortable. I especially love the breakfast buffet. They had a variety of selection and the menu changes everyday. The staff are also friendly and the location is good. Walking distance to the puppet theater and night markets.

We couldn't fault the huge, spotless room. It had great views over Hanoi and wasa relaxing oasis to return to after sight-seeing around the capital all day. The free mini-bar was a treat (as was the daily ration of beers and bottled water), the bathroom was luxurious and the TV had over 60 channels, including Australian and US news. We had one small service hiccup with a towel shortage and some miscommunication over our airport taxi but otherwise the staff were helpful and lovely. This is a great hotel to stay in. The rooms are big and comfortable. The staff were really helpful. The breakfast was really good. Only a few things to mention... the bathroom has a blind you need to put down each time you go and the pillows are a little uncomfortable. Other than that, I would say this is a great place for the price and location.

The location of this hotel is key - it makes exploring Hanoi on foot a breeze. The staff are all excellent, super friendly and accommodating. I was really pleasantly suprised with this hotel. Even though we were only here 2 nights, we really enjoyed our stay. There is no swimming pool...but it was a little chilly when we were there and we were so busy sight-seeing that it didn't matter. FRONT DESK: was very friendly and helpful. English was spoken really well. Even the guys at the front […] door were very friendly and happy to help. We arrived a few hours earlier than check-in and they took us to our room right away. The tour desk was helpful and drew us a map of everywhere we could walk to. We found tours slightly expensive and booked for half the price outside of the hotel. ROOM: rooms were on the smaller side, but very comfortable and nicely designed. The king bed was really large and so comfortable! The bathroom was really nice and clean. The shower does leak water onto the floor, but not a major issue. Wifi was free and easy to access. Everything in mini bar was free. Our room was at the back of the hotel and it was very quiet and peaceful. LOCATION: was perfect! It was on a nice street with lots of shops. Was within walking distance to the lake and lots of markets, water puppet theatre, shops and restaurants. RESTAURANT: the breakfast was great and there were lots of options. We ordered room service for dinner one night and it was quick and the food was great! We would definitely recommend this hotel! Read more

This hotel is only a year old. Rooms are small but this is standard in this style of boutique hotel. Rooms are very clean, comfortable and have all standard features inc. TV. Staff extremely helpful. Cheap rates. Food, including breakfast buffet, was good. The hotel ic ideally located on a great street in the Old Quarter.

The staff were lovely and really helpful. Breakfast was included and was an unusual mix of Asian and European but catered for everyone. Only criticism was the tea was very weak. The room was a tight fit with the extra bed and lacked space for storing clothes. The location is excellent, easy to find and within the interesting Old Quarter. A busy road but we couldn't hear the traffic through the double glazing at all. Staff were courteous and helpful and spoke perfect English. The interior decor of the room had a modern asian feel. The beds were very comfy, with good quality cotton linen. Good quality bathroom […] fittings too, although he bathroom size were pretty tight and also glazed open to the room, so lack of privacy (although there was a blind). Breakfast included was buffet style and was pretty good, although with such good street food to be found in Hanoi, we forewent it after the first day. It took reception 20 minutes to check us in, even though we had paid in advance; our deluxe room was very comfortable, but had little resemblance to the pictures on the website. After a busy day we wanted to rest before going out for the evening, however there was loud building work going on upstairs. We rang reception, who said there was work going […] directly above us, but this would finish in 30 minutes. So, we waited. After 45 minutes, we rang back to say the noise was still going, and reception apologised and said that they would come up and help us to move rooms. So we repacked and waited. No one arrived for 15 minutes, so we called back again; they said that the noise was due to stop imminently, so they had decided not to move us after-all! We were annoyed, but decided to go out and hope that the noise had stopped when we got back. We had a good nights sleep, and an adequate breakfast, and then checked out, leaving our bags in reception to collect later in the day, and confirmed that there was somewhere for us to shower. After a day exploring Hanoi, and before getting on a 15 hour train journey, we returned and asked to have a shower- the receptionist said that there would be a US$20 charge to wash the towels! I begrudgingly negotiated down to US$10; the only time I have ever had to pay to use a 'courtesy' room, which left a sour taste in the mouth. Read more
