"Great place with good location and price!"
My wife and I went. Middle of the week for our birthday vacation. We were very impressed with the price and quality. Hard to beat location. We never drove anywhere. Everything was within a miles walk.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Clean and Comfortable, Long Walk to Attractions"
Pros: Hotel is clean. Our room was immaculate and had a refrigerator. Location is OK for some restaurants on Upper King St. Cons: Lots of construction/somewhat sketchy area surrounds hotel. Long walk to attractions in downtown area. On-site restaurant is not open during mid-day, although there is complementary coffee available all day. Minor point you […] will only care about if, like me, you are a bath lover: all rooms except those for handicap access do not have bathtubs, only showers. Overall assessment: good value for the price. The trade-off is that the location is not in the midst of the tourist action. We had a fantastic dinner around the corner at Indaco, and a great burgers at Hom right down the block. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Felt like the last of the relatives to use the roo"
We spent 6 nights in 4 hotels on our vacation and this was the most expensive and worst experience from all the "oops, we forgot to clean your room" to the "free" breakfast that was not hot or very good either morning. Our room was never fully serviced when we arrived, April 28th. The front desk was informed, still not done completely. On the second […] day my husband waited until 8:00P.M. to go down to the front desk with an empty container and the night guy search the offices for a partial box of tissues that Housekeeping couldn't supply after several hours. Our check-out bill charged us $32/night for our car when $16 was the correct charge. So many little things wrong that it spoiled our 2 day stay in Charleston. The only consideration Tammy, at the front desk was able to do was take off the parking charges, but it wasn't enough for feeling like the unwanted relatives who got to use a room after someone else. "Nice place, great location"
This is a great place to stay in Charleston. It is one block off of upper King street, the heart of the tourist attractions. It is on the edge of a redeveloping neighborhood, but still quite safe. Hotel staff was super friendly and helpful. The room and common area was spotless. Breakfast was good, buffet or cook to order. Great restaurants within a […] block or two. You can spend hours on King street, walk to the harbor and other attractions. We'll stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Holiday Inn Meeting St"
Great hotel. Contemporary, clean. Great proximity to King St.. Only caveat is parking is $16.00 a day... plus tips. It's cheaper to pay $5.00 and park in the dirt lot behind the hotel. Safe and cheap! Otherwise, I would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a wonderful stay. Staff was very accomadating. Had an issue with the in room safe - staff was there within 5 minutes to assist. Great location in an up and coming area with great variety of restaurants and bars. Took in a show at a local theatre within walking distance. Definetely recomend this hotel for visitors!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Close to the Visitors Center (2 blocks), location is good. Staff was more than helpful, went out of their way to make our stay/trip as good as possible. We were there 3 days and look forward to returning ... and staying here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel. Overpriced."
You can stay over the bridge for $125 less, including a good breakfast, and still get to downtown Charleston in 7 minutes.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Location better than epected"
I really enjoyed the modern, new, clean hotel. I was worried that it was too far uptown but I walked just one block over to King and was able to have a nice walk down to the historic district. I liked being walking distance to Kudu coffee each morning as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"A bit off the beaten path"
Historic area of the city is interesting with beautiful gardens in the springtime. Either a walking or motor tour of the historic area is very helpful in planning your days. We went on the Historic Home and Gardens tour which admitted us to several historic homes. However, the only thing that is historic is the exteriors of the homes which must be maintained […] in near original condition; the interiors are totally renovated and probably similar to the interior of your own home. I think this is a worthy group to support, but probably just give them the price of admission and skip the tour as there are many more interesting things to do. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The Holiday Inn in the Historic District has one of the nicest staffs i have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. They went our of their way to make sure your every need was met. "Nice hotel excellent staff"
Perfect location, the only thing that would have been better was if our patio had some sort of overhang to shield the rain. Can't complain about anything else. There was a table but no umbrella for it and it rained one whole day we were there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Was only there to sleep"
I was only in the hotel to sleep at night and order late night food with my work schedule being crazy during my stay in Charleston. Except for the fire alarm going off at 5am during a busy and tiring week for me, my stay was great! Its a beautiful and new hotel in a perfect location( King street and the museum)Genuine Expedia guest review

Very, very nice hotel. Only about a year old, the rooms are exceptional, well appointed, clean and comfortable. The bathroom is spacious and has a great shower. "Great new property !!!"
I have stayed in all of the high end hotels in Charleston and I must say from the moment we checked into this property I was pleasantly surprised . The Valet stand guys are first class , the front desk was very efficient in getting us checked in and then came the real game changer . A corner room on the fifth floor , floor to ceiling glass and incredibly […] spacious with a view of the bridge . I told my wife that for the money that we normally spend per night in charleston that I hadn't seen anything that compared . Don't let the Holiday Inn name fool you . This property can keep pace with the big boys and gives you and incredible rate to boot . My new favorite in town !!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great value....but above all, amazing hospitality. We loved the hotel bar, especially Daniella.....not so much for the drinks, which were fine, but for the delightful bartender and how she created a warm atmosphere in which strangers become friends.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Super nice Great staff"
I loved this hotel and never felt unsafe in this location and actually enjoyed the 1.2 mile walk to the market area. Besides, the free trolley stops directly outside the hotel and runs every 15 minutes. The staff was awesome. We accidentally left clothes and electronics and all of it was mailed back to me. I've left stuff at other hotels and mysteriously […] housekeeping never found them so I was so surprised to get my iphone and two kindles and cords and even the candy I left in the room all returned to me. We had a noisy neighbor and after I complained, they sent up a bell hop and moved me and my stuff immediately. The restaurant food was delicious. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We spent our Thanksgiving break at the Holiday Inn. From the moment I made the reservation the service was out of this world. A new hotel close to all the new restaurants on upper King. Clean, modern and comfortable, the best part was the wonderful staff from front desk to especially the friendly and helpful bellman. "Poor customer service"
This hotel has a parking lot but you have to pay for it, otherwise they suggest that you park few blocks down the road. The rude concierge made my anniversary vacation a bit unpleasant but the modern look of our room made up for it. Two queen beds were very comfy, had clean sheets and plenty of pillows but don't expect your usual queen size bed. An […] average person can grab both sides of this queen at once. There was no sofa or sink as pictures suggested. I've made my reservations weeks ahead and added free breakfast for two. Instead of a free breakfast, we got one $20 coupon which we used in hotel restaurant and had to pay for the difference. The restaurant is very nice and clean which is a fair reason for pricey meals. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here but we didn't like the hidden fees. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Holiday Inn Charleston Historic Downtown Dear Traveler, We would like to thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to review the hotel. In regards to the parking charge, I apologize you were not aware. In Charleston parking is very sparse, and we charge for parking as most other hotels. Our parking is a 24 hour Valet Service. We hope you will return and stay with us in the future. Sincerely, Staff & Management
"Anniversary trip and first vacay in YEARS!"
Easy booking, easy check-in, parking is less than desirable, free full breakfast bar was just okay but I'm not a big breakfast geek anyways, and our safe in the room did not work, even after asking for it to be fixed one time, but the total experience was awesome!Genuine Expedia guest review
This was the best Holiday Inn I've ever stayed in. A beautiful hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, the best dining room, a nice room. The quality of the hotel was as good as Marriott or even better. That's the good news. The hotel is within walking distance of the historic district; but I did not feel safe walking in the area around the hotel (and […] I've lived in many urban areas). I highly recommend using the valet parking ($16 a night), since the parking area is blocks away from the hotel. And I recommend using public transportation, which stops outside the hotel. The area is undergoing urban renewal, with some really nice buildings interspersed among derelict buildings, so this area will be much better as time goes by. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

My husband and I loved the hotel and the staff. The restaurant food was extremely good! "Good overnight stay"
Good stay in the heart of Charleston! Bar food excellent in the restaurant. We were only there overnight but it was a very good choice of hotel for us as we wanted to see Charleston the following morning before moving on to our final destination. Visit the market and see the locally made goods, walk the pavements and see the various parks, museums, […] etc. Don't forget to go into some of the sidewalk shops also selling hand made items as there were items there which are not sold in the market area. Loved Charleston and would want to go back again for a longer period of time. Definitely take your walking shoes and enjoy the place. The cafes and bars had very good food as well and at reasonable prices. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Located in historic Charleston, two blocks away from the visitor center! Nice and clean rooms, staff very friendly. The only thing to say would be that website is not clear with "full breakfast". If you want to include "full breakfast" you pay extra, but what you receive is a $20 coupon towards breakfast! Restaurant has several healthy and delicious […] choices from the menu (no buffet breakfast), even though choices are delicious, they are quite expensive, and for a family of 4, a $20 coupon, keeping in mind you had to pay extra for it is not what you expect when you book in advance with "full breakfast", Would stay again, just good to know what to expect in advance.
