"Anniversary trip and first vacay in YEARS!"
Easy booking, easy check-in, parking is less than desirable, free full breakfast bar was just okay but I'm not a big breakfast geek anyways, and our safe in the room did not work, even after asking for it to be fixed one time, but the total experience was awesome!Genuine Expedia guest review
This was the best Holiday Inn I've ever stayed in. A beautiful hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, the best dining room, a nice room. The quality of the hotel was as good as Marriott or even better. That's the good news. The hotel is within walking distance of the historic district; but I did not feel safe walking in the area around the hotel (and […] I've lived in many urban areas). I highly recommend using the valet parking ($16 a night), since the parking area is blocks away from the hotel. And I recommend using public transportation, which stops outside the hotel. The area is undergoing urban renewal, with some really nice buildings interspersed among derelict buildings, so this area will be much better as time goes by. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Response by Holiday Inn Charleston Historic Downtown Hi Patsy, Thank you for your comment. Our Breakfast Package is very popular and would include breakfast. We hope to see you next time you are in the area. Best regards, Staff & Management
My husband and I loved the hotel and the staff. The restaurant food was extremely good! The hotel's location was near the interstate, which suited us well, however, it wasn't really located in historic Charleston. Even still, the price and the facility were great, and we had zero complaints!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Holiday Inn Charleston Historic Downtown Dear Joy, We are delighted to hear you loved the hotel and staff. We hope you will return soon. With highest regards, Staff & Management

"Good overnight stay"
Good stay in the heart of Charleston! Bar food excellent in the restaurant. We were only there overnight but it was a very good choice of hotel for us as we wanted to see Charleston the following morning before moving on to our final destination. Visit the market and see the locally made goods, walk the pavements and see the various parks, museums, […] etc. Don't forget to go into some of the sidewalk shops also selling hand made items as there were items there which are not sold in the market area. Loved Charleston and would want to go back again for a longer period of time. Definitely take your walking shoes and enjoy the place. The cafes and bars had very good food as well and at reasonable prices. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

nice hotel, great staff, shady neighborhood.have to pay to park your car 15.00 plus tax.2 miles away from the market.Wish we would of know how far it was.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice hotel, close to historic area"
Lovely hotel, walking distance to historic downtown. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Restaurant was delicious! Would stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
Located in historic Charleston, two blocks away from the visitor center! Nice and clean rooms, staff very friendly. The only thing to say would be that website is not clear with "full breakfast". If you want to include "full breakfast" you pay extra, but what you receive is a $20 coupon towards breakfast! Restaurant has several healthy and delicious […] choices from the menu (no buffet breakfast), even though choices are delicious, they are quite expensive, and for a family of 4, a $20 coupon, keeping in mind you had to pay extra for it is not what you expect when you book in advance with "full breakfast", Would stay again, just good to know what to expect in advance. Brand new Hotel, opend 6 month ago. Good breakfast and service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ok but not great"
The rooms were clean enough but the hallway carpets were stained and smelled moldy. The beds were comfortable but the pillows were lumpy. This location is convenient to the historic district but seemed to be in a dangerous neighborhood. I did not feel comfortable or safe to walk around the neighborhood. There was construction and board up buildings. […] If you stay here, use a car or cab to travel to and from the hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"free trolley less than half block away"
Fabulous boutique-style hotel convenient to the heart of the historic district and three short blocks from the visitors center where you can pick up one of many tours of the city. Free trolley just across the street from the hotel was oh so convenient. Would definitely return!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Enjoying the east coast"
I want to say the hotel itself was beautiful. The staff were kind and informative. A lot of street construction was going on during our stay which created some difficulty with the valet parking. It was a bit of a walk to the main shopping, restaurants and sites. That said, we could use the exercise. We were touring several cities along the east coast […] over a two week period and I just have to say that of all the other hotels we stayed in Holiday Inn, Charleston was the ONLY hotel that didn't offer a complimentary breakfast of some sort. The breakfast we ordered from the hotel restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. I was just surprised that such a large hotel chain as Holiday Inn didn't offer a continental breakfast. I wouldn't say that I wouldn't stay there again because of that, but did want them to be aware that in todays economy it may make a difference to someone else with a family. "Really loved this place."
We actually canceled some outside activities so that we could enjoy the hotel some more. Everything works well. Our greeting was great. The reservation was exactly as we requested. The Valet parked our car in a secure garage. The only down side was the restaurant which seem to be geared only for pork eaters. "Excellent front desk service"
Sadly, I forgot the shoes I needed to wear to a business meeting/dinner the evening of my stay. The gentleman (I believe his name was Brian) offered to let me wear his shoes for the evening. While I didn't take him up on the offer -- he went above and beyond and it was greatly appreciated.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"New hotel in downtown Charleston"
Because the air conditioner was so quiet, you could hear everything in the hallway. Also, do not eat in the restaurant~very expensive, service was not good and food was not good.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Downtown Charleston is fun"
Nice hotel, close to a lot of bars and restaurantsGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to all good things"
Very nice facility. Easy walking distance to all sorts of shops and restaurants. Wish we had realized that it was valet parking only before we arrived. We were unprepared to not have access to our vehicle any time we wanted it unless the valet brought it around. Highly recommend the place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Ad says historical downtown district. On the skirts maybe but far from downtown Paid extra for a terrace room.. There is nothing from any view from the hotel that even suggest Charleston. Neighborhood is very dumpy! The meeting room restaurant doesn't open its bar until 4 in the afternoon so forget cocktails before that. The décor of the hotel is typical […] anywhere Holiday Inn yet you pay Charleston historic district prices! Too many choice hotels in Charleston to waste your time at this place. From the minute I got to the hotel it was a bad experience. When I got there I didnt know all parking was vallet. I must have drove around the block 3 times before going in and asking how to park. I was then astonished that I had to pay $16 to park per night. I saw nothing about paying to park on the website. It was such a hassle to get the car and […] park the car when I was going back and forth from the hotel. There is no complimentary brekfast or coffee. The staff was completely rude about any of my needs and ended up ignoring me the rest of the trip. It was sad to say I wanted to leave from the time I checked in. I stayed for 7 days too. I had to stock my room with food and housekeeping threw it away. The pool was extremely small. Throughout the night you could hear the stairwell door being slammed. "Modern, Fresh, Convenient Hotel"
Not your typical Holiday Inn! Fantastic, new, hip, in an up & coming neighborhood. They are tearing down a building right next door however all around the hotel the new buildings are being filled with cute shops, two gourmet restaurants within two blocks - Grocery & The Ordinary. We walked to historic Charleston or took the FREE trolley shuttle that […] arrives every 15 to 20 minutes 7 days a week until 9 pm! Great value, no smoking, nice pool area. "parking was questionable"
the overall stay was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Generally OK but the neighborhood was not totally comfortable - e.g. crumbling buildling across the street and I had not been informed that parking was only valet and $16 a night or you leave your car on the street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good Experience Here"
Not the nicest neighborhood, but looks like it's improving with the addition of luxury apartments across the street. The staff were consistently courteous and gave good service. They have on-site valet parking in a locked garage. The pool is small but very nice. The restaurant (like all restaurants in Charleston) is pricey, but good. We were told the […] hotel had opened in April of 2013, so it's currently only 3 months old. The room featured a safe, big closet, large TV (we don't watch), plenty of drawer space for clothes, and large bathroom. Very modern, nice, clean hotel. "Nice hotel bad parking and far walk"
The hotel is really nice but there is not much parking in the area. They want you to valet your car 16 bucks per night. It's a mile walk to get to main part of Charleston . If you don't valet you park on the street at a meter or a local neighborhood street.Genuine Expedia guest review

"nice hotel, pretty close to everything."
Very nice hotel. friendly people working there. Location, geographically, is good. Pretty close to everything. Location: as in the neighborhood, is horrible at this point. Buildings are dilapidated around it, even seen from the pool area, there's a falling down building right next to it.. It's not a location that I was comfortable walking around in […] at night. (totally fine in daytime) This hotel is the lone nice building in the area at this point. In a decade or so, I think the area will have caught up with it. I was aware of this coming in, seeing other reviews, and was prepared for that. The hotel is right by a trolley stop. very convenient. The hotel itself is absolutely great. Rooms are super nice. Didn't eat at the bar/diner, but it looked great as well. The hotel is VERY close to king street.. full of great restaurants, etc. Pool is very small, but nice. Valet parking was nice (not unreasonably expensive) and it was very nice of the guy to help us load up our luggage as well. Beds were comfortable. This is, in my opinion, a 5 star hotel in a 1 star neighborhood (as of right now) but you cannot beat it for the nearness to downtown. Overall, I would rather stay here than similarly priced hotels in North Charleston, a half an hour from the things you want to see. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Before I selected the hotel I read some not so nice reviews. Our experience was nothing but wonderful. Great accommodations. Friendliest staff. Excellent choice if you don't want to end up in the old and dusty "historic" hotel. Enjoyed walking to restaurants and historic places.Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was brand new and very clean. Surrounding area was pretty gritty. I live in a major city, so did not intimidate me, but views left something to be desired. Lots of bars, restaurants very close by. For such a small city, it was a bit far from historic area, but room rates reflected this.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Too far from action of downtown"
Front desk staff acted like they could be bothered checking us in, answering questions, even at check out. No friendly smiles or conversation, like they were doing us a favor.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good Location, Fine Hotel"
Very nice brand new hotel (2013) within walking distance to all downtown sights. Don't miss dinner at Aluette's around the corner at 83 Reid Street, great authentic cooking with local organic ingredients. Healthy fried food, can't be beat.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Parking/public transportation service lacking"
Hotel services and staff were great. Too far for seniors to walk to restaurants and shopping and the public transportation was not convenient in the area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel in developing area"
The hotel, room, and service were all nice. The surrounding area, however, is in a transition stage. Some of the neighboring buildings are in dilapidated condition and construction crews were working. The worst part was that the crews shut down the sidewalks nearby. Walking is so much more convenient than driving here due to the tourists and drinkers […] who are not always watching where they are going. We never felt unsafe in the neighborhood, but some people might, based on the looks of the surroundings. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great new hotel"
This hotel is brand new and looked it. It was located in a great spot at the top Meeting Street and within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and activities downtown. There was no parking lot, so everything was valet...not a big deal if you're walking everywhere but could see how it would be a pain to wait everytime you needed your car.Genuine Expedia guest review
The staff there are great. Very helpful. Only negative is the tables in the restaurant are small.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel-Squeaky clean and comfortable."
All hotel staff were helpful and friendly. Reception desk staff was extremely knowledgeable about the local area, tours, historic sites, etc. and provided excellent restaurant recommendations Hotel is fairly new so everything was in great shape. Located about 15 minute walk from historic district but only a block from King street shops and restaurants. […] Also a grocery store and liquor (ABC) store a block away on Meeting street. Did not eat at the hotel restaurant/bar, only because of so many wonderful restaurants in Charleston (i.e. Hominy Grill, Blossom, Poogan Porch). Would definitely stay here again! Great accomodating staff to all ages of our groups many requests and needs- good access to restaurants and sites...we had a cocktail reception to welcome our guests to town in the hotel ; the food and service were fantastic!Genuine Expedia guest review
It was a nice hotel at a reasonable price. A little farther away from some key tourist spots than other places. However, the free Meeting/King Street shuttle stops right across the street. Other reviews have said parts of the neighborhood were a little rough. However, for those not familiar with Charleston, most of the downtown and historic area is […] like that. "Family of four with two small children"
This hotel is brand new so everything is in perfect condition. The hotel is located in an up and coming area which means there is construction going on but nothing noisy. We chose this hotel for the location. And not the view so we didn't mind the delapatated building next door. We were able to walk to the market and to some of our dinner reservations. […] Housekeeping was great, our beds(most comfortable mattresses) were always made and we never even saw housekeeping. Only two downsides to this hotel: no hot tub and valet parking only! With the valet you would pay just as much to park anywhere else in the city so I guess it wouldn't be much of a difference. We would stay here again :-) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very new hotel."
The is an exceptional hotel in a just "ok" area. You are quite a walk to the historic sites, but Kind Street is just a block away with great restaurants and nightlife. The area is slowly transitioning into an upscale neighborhood, but there is still quite a few signs of a less desirable kind. The only parking is valet, which can be pretty annoying.
