"My Experience at Shoreline Hotel"
Shoreline hotel is great. I enjoyed the fact that the room had a small fridge, microwave, safe and a coffee pot. I loved the fact that this hotel is across from Starbucks. I cannot function effectively without my coffee so I was happy that Starbucks was so close by. The ABC store was also next to the hotel. You can purchase things at the store that […] you might need. This hotel is pretty close to a lot of things in Waikiki. The beach is two blocks away so if you are looking for a hotel, pretty close to the beach, this isn't it. I would stay here again. It is cheaper than most hotels in Waikiki or so I have been told. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice and clean hotel and close to the beach"
Our room was immaculate with a partial view of the ocean. We had a reservation for only 2 days, but because of a mistake on our part, we needed to extend the reservation for another 7 days. The Hotel was able to accommodate our needs and even though we had to change rooms, we still had a clean room with ALL the amenities, such as refrigerator, coffee, […] microwave etc. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel close to beach"
Wonderful experience in this nicely renovated hotel. We were very comfortable and slept well every night. During the day we took trips around the island and swam at the beach nearby. We even enjoyed swimming at 7:00 am several mornings. It was beautiful. The hotel room was very reasonably priced and we were able to take a bus from the airport to a block […] away from the hotel. "basic hotel, great location, great price"
I travelled with a significant other. We were looking for a clean and comfortable place to shower, sleep and get dressed in between going to the beach, shopping and exploring Oahu. Shoreline was fantastic for our purposes. This is my third time staying in Waikiki, each time in a different hotel. In the past I've stayed in a hotel that was right across […] from the beach but was old, un-updated and small. The other hotel was about the same distance from the beach as Shoreline but much older. Both were priced higher than the Shoreline when I was booking this time around. The Shoreline Hotel looks like it was recently renovated, just like in the pictures. Our room was modern, clean and comfortable. The TV had a great selection of channels. Coffee in the room was complimentary and the fridge had complimentary water bottles. The hotel doesnt have amenities like a pool, gym or room service. For us it was great, we wouldnt use those things so why pay for them? I think the hotel offers discounted passes to a nearby fitness center for interested guests. We probably would have taken advantage of this if we had known in advance and packed our gym clothes. The location is AMAZING! We were right in the heart of all the shopping. There are plenty of great restaurants (we liked Doraku for sushi and Roy's). And a grocery store (Food Pantry) is a 5-10 min walk and has fantastic fresh fruit, deli and bakery for cheap. Beach was 5-7 min walk. Overall I would highly recommend. "great location with cleanness"
I really liked this hotel during my trip with only one minor issue--the housekeeping was not so great. Sometimes they forgot somethings to leave (e.g. towels) so I had to call the front desk asking extra towels and stuffs. But other than that everything was great. The room itself is a bit small but VERY clean and new, and just a block away from the […] DFS (the duty-free shopping mall) and from the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. Very convenient to take the trolleys and everything. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Walking distance from everything: beach, food, bars, & shopping. Rooms were clean and up to date- even had a "clean remote" which was a cleanable/water-resistant remote. The valet was the only gripe I had about this place. Because the property doesn't have its own parking, they provide a valet. The valet was ALWAYS full, and had to get a ticket to park […] across the street. Just FYI, you will ALWAYS pay for parking in Waikiki, so Valet is usually worth it, but wish I could use it- henc the Rating of 3 for hotel service. Otherwise, great hotel! Response by Shoreline Hotel Waikiki, a Joie de Vivre Hotel Aloha Charles! Thank you so much for staying with us! We appreciate your comments and especially your 5-star review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed our location. Waikiki truly does have some amazing restaurants, bars, and shopping - not to mention our world-famous beach. It almost feels as if all of these wonderful places are just an extension of our lobby because everything is in such close proximity to the Shoreline Hotel Waikiki. Sorry about the parking situation. You are absolutely correct! Parking is extremely limited almost everywhere in Waikiki. Even though we may not have had space to valet park your car every night that you stayed with us, we are lucky to have a relationship with the garage across the street to allow for a discounted overnight parking rate. Normally, they charge $48 for a 24-hour period, but we have worked out a special deal so that guests of the Shoreline only have to pay $24 when our valet parking is full. We are still working to make our parking options better, so we definitely appreciate the feedback. Come stay with us again! Mahalo! Brian Aker Director of Rooms

"In the heart of Waikiki."
I enjoyed staying at this hotel. It is right in the middle of Waikiki but on a side street so there isn't a lot of foot traffic, which is great. It is also 2 blocks away from the beach and right across the street from Sheraton Hotel's infinity pool (go check that out!). It's in a great location full of shops and restaurants so there is never a need […] for a car. The downside of this hotel located in the heart of Waikiki is the traffic noise. My boyfriend and I were woken up on our last night by a loud motorcycle ripping down the streets at 4am, people yelling, and police sirens. But it wasn't until the last night so that's not too bad. Also, they do not have blackout shades, for whatever reason. We asked the front desk about this incase it was just our room and was informed that all rooms do not have blackout shades, only cream colored decorative ones. This made sleeping in entirely impossible cause it was so bright. So we were awake by 7am almost every day but at least, it made for a nice long vacation since we were out all day. The room with the king bed isn't particularly huge but the decorations and furniture are all modern and let's be honest, you shouldn't need to stay in your room all day anyway. I would certainly stay here again in the future but this time, I'd bring a sleep mask and ear plugs. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Just a block or so from beach - many shops nearby"
A very nice 14 story hotel. The view from the roof (where it also has a pool) is great as you can see all around including to the beach/ocean just a block or so away. Getting to the beach very easy - you can walk a block and go through Royal Hawaiian or Sheraton property to get to the beach (which is public) or go a block left to the public access (lined […] with parked surfboards which was interesting) to get to the beach. The amount of shopping nearby was incredible. High end stores and restaurants as well as grocery store, pharmacy, gift shops including a large open air market with many different kiosks/shops. Cheap buffets nearby as well as high end restaurants like Chucks Steakhouse, Dukes, and Hula Grill. Also the Seaside Grill is just around the corner for a reasonably priced breakfast that is very good. Everything seems to be available within 5 blocks in various directions. Only negative I saw during my stay was minor - I had to continually remind the housekeeping staff to replenish the complimentary coffee but they always did so on request. Nothing that would prevent me from going back to same hotel. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They'll give you maps to show you how to get to various things and one of them even printed Google "walking directions" for me on the occasions I asked him for directions to a couple of different things. "How a Hotel can Ruin a week in Hawaii"
First of all, when you stay at a hotel that not a single cab company knows about, you know you are probably in trouble. Second, don't get sucked in by the pictures on the Hotels.com website. The property was VERY creative with these. We paid for a higher tier room and there was NO seating area, no seeming little kitchen nook, no room to do much but […] lie in the bed...there was, however, a wall mounted air conditioning unit reminiscent of those that you would find at a motor lodge in Des Moines (and it only worked part of the time). Also, be careful of paying for a "partial ocean view". Where this property is located, that means MAYBE seeing a small triangle of ocean somewhere on the horizon...this property is distinctly land locked. Also, this property is supposedly "newly renovated"...they should have spent some effort "renovating" the bathrooms! All this (and so many more) complaints aside, the worst part of this property was an aloof and seemingly uncaring staff. They had NO solution for any problem that I reported, only meeting my questions with blank, fish-eyed stares. Look, it is not the worst property around, but the Shoreline pretty much single-handedly put a negative overall feel on my first week ever in Hawaii. That should be enough said! I want you to know that we very much appreciate your feedback and we take your comments very seriously. Our goal is provide a relaxed and enjoyable experience for all of our guests, but we have clearly failed to do so during your recent visit. Please accept my sincere apology for all of the frustrations that you encountered. Your feedback for improvement will help guide our team in correcting these issues so that other guests are not faced with the same frustrations. Unlike many hotels, every room at the Shoreline has a unique layout meaning no two rooms are exactly alike. For our photography, we captured what best represents that particular room type. We are currently in the process of reviewing the view from each room to ensure that we are appropriately describing the view. Furthermore, whenever a new hotel opens in Waikiki, there is always a chance that the taxi drivers may not know the new hotel right away. "Friendly Staff and Central Location..."
Stayed at the property for approx one week on this trip. The staff here were very helpful, and really have aloha spirit: we were able to check in early after a long flight, had a super fast valet, could get beach towels when needed, timely advice on attractions, etc. Also important to note that rooms were *very clean*, and housekeeping staff was very […] friendly, which is huge for me. I found the hotel location to be practical. You are close--easy walk--to the beach and shopping. But, and equally important, you are just slightly away from the madness. Seaside is a little less busy (pedestrians and motor traffic) than some of the other streets, so arrivals and departures are relatively painless. If, however, you are looking to stumble out of your room and onto a beach, this may not be the hotel for you. Also, if you are planning your trip around very small children, you may want to look elsewhere: the walk to the beach may be too much for fussy toddlers, and there is ongoing construction on both sides of Seaside (as of July 2013). Overall, however, would definitely recommend the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Location for Friends/Group Trips"
I loved this location which was perfect for our friends trip that included visiting a lot of tourist spots and also nightlife. I recommend this hotel if you are on a budget and just want to enjoy Waikiki. This place is incredibly close to the beach, tons of shopping, and a large selection of local and commercial restaurants. With a little bit more […] investment into the retro theme of the lobby, I could see this place taking off as a hipster destination equivalent to some places in Palm Springs. It would be great to see the owners transform the roof top pool area into a scenic hangout spot. If you're looking for more luxury and romance, I recommend looking elsewhere in Waikiki. "small but nice rooms"
The Shoreline is in a great location in Waikiki. You can easily walk to the beach and many shopping areas and restaurants. We did not need to rent a car at any point during our trip, but we did need a cab to get to and from the airport. The hotel is clean and very reasonably priced, and the staff are very helpful. There is a pool on the rooftop, which […] we often had to ourselves. The room was a little small, but we didn't mind because we didn't spend much time in the room anyway. There was no room for a dresser, so you'd have to be ok living out of your suitcase and the closet. The bed was comfortable, and everything looked clean and updated. "Great hotel, but the staff makes the stay"
I have no complaints about the hotel--clean, nicely kept, rooms are somewhat small, but not too small whatsoever. I actually gave the staff a pie I bought […] from Ted's bakery on the North Shore (a must do), but couldn't take it on the plane (I would've had to throw it away). Response by Shoreline Hotel Waikiki, a Joie de Vivre Hotel Aloha Kirkland Traveler, Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on the parking services that are available at the Shoreline Hotel Waikiki. The Shoreline does have very limited parking available and it does fill up very quickly - especially on the weekend. Unfortunately, most hotels in Waikiki are faced with limited parking. Our onsite parking is valet only and is $26 per night. Since we do have such a limited amount of parking available, we have partnered with the garage across the street to provide overnight parking for our guests. The garage across the street does not normally allow overnight parking. This is why a parking ticket is required. We do encourage guests who use the parking garage across the street to check with the front desk each day to see if any space has opened up in our onsite garage. We would much prefer that you are able to park with us, but unfortunately, this is just not physically possible. Please accept my sincere apologies for the frustrations that you encountered. You also mentioned that you were not able to have your clothing laundered while you were staying with us. We do offer dry cleaning and laundry services. The laundry bag is located in the closet along with the laundry slip. Thanks again for your comments. Please come back and see us again the next time you visit Waikiki! Mahalo! "Great budget hotel"
If you're looking for somewhere right in Waikiki, but don't want to spend $300 per night, this is a great option. The hotel was recently renovated, and everything is nice and new. I would compare this place with staying at somewhere like a Courtyard, or Holiday Inn. The location is half a block from the main street in Waikiki, which is across from the […] Royal Hawaiian Center, with all the shopping and restaurants. The walk to the zoo is a simple 15 minute walk at the most, and the beach is less than 10 minutes. If you're looking to avoid renting a car, which is what we were going for, this is a great location. Alex and Christy at the front desk were amazing. I work at a resort, and the customer service, friendliness, and constant great disposition was impressive, and made you feel as if you were staying at a 5 star resort. These two employees were the highlight of the hotel! The overall building looks new, and is remodeled to be very modern. The complimentary computer access, and free wifi are great features. The beds are comfortable, the tvs are nice, new flat screens, with loads of channels, the complimentary water is a nice touch, and there is plenty of comfortable pillows on the beds. The only thing that I took a point off the facilities for is the view if you're on a lower floor, on the ocean side. The building across the alley looks very ghetto, but everything else is nice. I would recommend a mountain side room. Overall, I would certainly stay here again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Staff was awesome. Hotel was in a great location! Just small but clean and had the necessities!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was really nice and clean. They did a good job with renovating the hotel. The hotel services was good also. The front desk personnel are really friendly, personable, and professional. It was an easy check-in/checkout. The location of the hotel surprised me. It's in the heart of downtown Wakiki, walking distance to the beach; an easy 5-10 minute […] walk. Ross Dept. store is directly across the street. A lot of construction is going on, but doesn't take away from the beauty of the area. The only thing that was baffling was that the room did not have a small table/desk and the sliding glass door was kind of old. You could barely see through the window. The rooms are a decent size and should be able to accomodate at least a small table or desk. I had to eat sitting on the bed or the chair with the food on my lap. I didn't like that. I also had to sit my laptop on the bed or my lap which was uncomfortable. Overall,, I had a very good experience and will use them again, but will ask for a room with a table or desk. "Great Hotel for a Business Trip"
This hotel was perfect for a 3 day business trip with some slack in the schedule. The hotel met all my needs and is located in Waikiki where I could spend time relaxing between meetings in a vibrant resort environment. The room was clean and comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff was great - friendly and helpful. The Shoreline doesn't have a restaurant […] or a pool deck but there are so many restaurants and hotel pools in the area, it didn't really matter. The Shoreline is one block from The Bus stops and one block from the main avenue in Waikiki, Kalakaua Avenue, pretty much in the center of Waikiki within walking distance of all points. I'll definitely go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
