We're on a 2 week Aussie road trip staying at a different place every night and the Castle On A Hill is by FAR the most unique, accommodating, friendly, wonderful, beautiful, afforadable place we stayed at the entire trip. If you want a truly memorable experience, stay here! Say hi to Irene and the professor for us (oh and the cats and chickens too).

Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Nov 9, 2012Very nice resort, very helpful staff. The beach houses are well appointed but nave no doors on any bedroom, which is a problem the owners need to fix. The whole point of separate bedrooms is privacy and at these prices, privacy shouldn't be out of reach. Otherwise very nice.

"Well run oasis near the centre of Byron"
Had a lovely stay with my husband and mum-in-law. Felt we were in a retreat. Relaxed atmosphere and even though the Arts Factory is next door, we didn't have a problem with noise. However, the Buree we stayed in seems to be part of a bigger home so heard the people attached come in late and get up early, which disturbed us a little. We were not made […] aware of this. Other than this, the location is only a 10 min stroll away from the town centre, and also has the lovely 'Buddha Gardens' spa next door to help you unwind. you get 10% off but be sure to book in advance as it's very popular. "Dirty..."
The villa is very romantic, however there is no air-con. There is a fan instead but it was very dirty(dust covered the fan), so we couldn't use it and we couldn't sleep because it was too hot to sleep without air-con or fan. We booked to have a relaxing couple of days away after a very hectic year. The room was just devine - the character of the garden and the Eastern Water Dragons who visited our water pond were fabulous. The relaxed open air Balanise style of the room with its open-air bathroom was particularly beautiful this time of the year, however, as were were looking […] for a quiet, relaxing time we found the noise from the backpackers camping ground and the boutique hotel next door a little frustrating in the evening. Leider dauerte unser Aufenthalt nur eine Nacht. Denn es war ein tolles Zimmer bzw Bungalow. ,denn es war kein Standard-Hotel-Doppelzimmer, sondern sehr individuell mit einer kleinen süßen Terasse. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber. Zudem trafen wir auf sehr freundliche Vermieter. Ich empfand die etwas abgeschiedene Lage als sehr angenhem und ruhig. "Fantastisch ausgestattetes Chalet"
In der Anlage befinden sich verschieden große und ausgestattete Chalets in einer Art Bungalow-Stil. Wir hatten das Chalet Marshanda (Kitchen) gebucht, welches von der Ausstattung absolut überwältigend war: große moderne Küche, zwei Schlafzimmer, gemütlicher Wohnbereich und eine riesige Terasse mit Liegen, Grill, Couch und Sitzbereich direkt im Grünen. […] Unmittelbar neben der Anlage befindet sich ein Spa-Bereich, ein Bierpub und ein Zeltplatz (trotzdem war alles ruhig). Die Anlage befindet sich etwas abseits vom Ortskern und Strand von Byron Bay, alles ist aber innerhalb von 15 Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen.
