The apartments were really well maintained and range service offered was truly wonderful. Free internet and breakfast was a welcome change. Overall, an excellent place.

Housekeeping was very poor and inconsistent. The beds were among the most uncomfortable I've ever slept on. Unless you showered very early in the morning or after noon the water was cold. Most annoying was the way the kitchen was set up. You have to have the vent fan on to even use the light over the sink or to boil water in the provided electric pot. […] The fan was load and annoying. Last but not least, if you are unfortunate enough to set off a smoke detector in the room, the Queensland Fire Dept. responds without anyone checking on the cause of the alarm and you are assessed a fee of more than several hundred dollars. Close to major shopping center/movies and easy access to city, airport & Brisbane Entertainment Center. The studio room was comfortable and clean. The secure parking was also a bonus if you have your own car.

Overall we were quite happy with our stay at Essence. On our arrival the receptionist couldn't have been nicer - such a lovely girl! The rooms were spotlessly clean. However we were disappointed to find the balcony was absolutely filthy. The toaster hadn't been cleaned after the previous user and crumbs fell everywhere when I got it out of the drawer […] to use. We had family call on us and commented on how well appointed the apartments were but when taking a phone call went out onto the balcony and couldn't believe the filth of it! We would stay here again. Nice facility and excellent value. I have recommended it to many friends who may visit Brisbane. Only minor complaint was the complimentary breakfast. Espresso machine not working and cereal tasted stale. However, it was free so can't really complain I suppose..

One of the selling points for us was the complimentary breakfast, on registering at arrival we asked what time breakfast happened,we were told between 7am to 9am and that this staff member would be there in attendance( lady at desk pointing to another staff member)and that this time was on the EXPEDIA WEB SITE, WE WENT LOOKING FOR THIS ON THE WEB SITE […] BUT COULD NOT FIND IT. At 7 am the next morning we went to were the breakfast was supposed to be happening but nothing was there no staff member no breakfast nothing,there was another couple there at the same time and they too were very disappointed as well. Although on a main road, the apartment was extremely quiet. Shower was large with strong waterflow. Strangely, they don't do soap so you have 'body wash' even for the basin. They do supply washers which was nice and there are only two complaints. Firstly, in order to use any of the kitchen facilities you have to flick a switch on the wall of the kitchen […] which I read about after I had already tried to boil the kettle, boil some water on the stove and eventually decided to use the microwave to make a cup of tea! Secondly, the take $50 off your credit card at check in that takes a week to get back as a holding charge. Most hotels just take a credit card imprint for incidentals. We did not need to go to the Chermside hospital but to a day surgery nearby. This apartment was still in a good location for where we needed to go. It would be extremely convenient for anyone visiting the Chermside hospital as it is next door. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly and the apartment very clean.

The room was great, even had a nice little courtyard which was nice for relaxing in the evening. There was a BBQ on the night of my stay - Tuesday - and a band played which was really nice. Highly recommend for short or long stays.

Modern, clean, spacious room ncluded two bedrooms with queen size very comfy beds.We will stay here again. it was close to everything we wanted to do. I loved that there were a variety of drinks and meals available and also appreciate that breakfast was included from an early time even on a Sunday morning so we could leave early.

The room was very clean and it was nice to have little snack packs and also frozen meal packs in the freezer which we have sampled and found to be very tasty. It is great to only have to travel 10mins from the airport when we arrive late at night.

The apartments were very clean and new. As a family we loved having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The apartments were very close to the Prince Charles Hospital (next door) and are ideal to stay at if you are going there.

We didn't have a huge amount of choice in where we were staying on 24 hours notice but we lucked out big time. Seriously good value for money!! The room was huge, new and very comfortable. I stayed in the studio apartment. It was really very comfortable. The finishes in the apartment were top class. I had breakfast in the lounge which was a simple continental breakfast but adequate for me. The kitchen was well equipped and they even had frozen meals in the freezer if you wanted to try them. There was a really clever Fisher Paykel combination […] stove and dishwasher which was great for the studio apartment. It is situated next to the Prince Charles Hospital and would be extremely handy for anyone unfortunate enough to have to stay next to the hospital. It is also close to the enormous Chermside Shopping Mall which has it all if you want to shop till you drop. The only downside was the linen was a little on the cheap side and the pillows where pretty ordinary. Also the air conditioner tended to blow on you when you were in bed which bothered me a little. I would definitely stay here again though and thoroughly recommend it as good value. Read more
