Wanted a b&b with off road parking outside of brecon as storing expensive bike in car, this was ideal. Host was very helpful and even allowed me to use the shower mid day after booking out on return from morning ride. Great breakfast and well placed for several pubs. Randomly found this hotel on Expedia as needed to stay nearby for a family engagement. After investigating the location a little further decided to make a real weekend of it and arrive early Saturday. Ideally located right in the centre of Talybont-on-Usk opposite two brilliant pubs. Could have had a bigger sign as took a few drives to find the hotel […] (tip - its opposite the White Lion!) Room was comfy and adequate size with all necessary amenities although if you're in the top, men need to watch their head (my boyfriend had to sit down to use the toilet as his head was in the beams!) but it all adds to the charm. Bed wasn't the comfiest but certainly not impossible to have a nice night's sleep. Recently stayed at the Malt House for one night prior to taking part in a trail running event the next day. Beautiful house, easy to find and great location in the centre of Talybont-on-Usk. We stayed in a twin room which was lovely. We had a shared bathroom, which was modern and spacious with a bath and shower, but it was a little way away down the […] corridor past other rooms which might not suit everyone. Service was polite but unobtrusive. This might not be for everyone, but suits us down to the ground. All though it did take a while to track someone down later on in the evening to ask for the wifi password. Great meal in the Star pub just a few yards away, would thoroughly recommend. We didn't have breakfast due to an early start, but what we saw/smelled looked great. Would thoroughly recommend the Malt House for a night/weekend away but maybe try to get an ensuite room if you can. Read more

The B&B is a large house with gardens and outdoor pool and staying there feels as though you are staying in someones house. There is a large living room for guests with chairs, tv, dvds and games. The rooms are large, clean and comfy but can be a bit cold at times as there is no double glazing. The area has a few pubs and a local shop and the pub food was good in the hotel opposite the malt house. Breakfast at the B&B was good and plenty was offered but it is served with everyone seated at one large table which felt a bit odd. The area around the B&B is picturesque and is on a canal. It took 50 minutes to drive to Cardiff from the B&B over the beacons and that was a very pretty journey. Overall i would recommend this B&B. Read more

We stayed for one night in a twin room at the Malt House. It is a lovely hotel- the beds were comfortable, the lounge/tv room was very relaxing and the bathroom was large and very clean. We were extremely impressed with our breakfast- both the lovely food and friendly service. It was a very last minute trip and so we had not made plans of where to go […] and what to see. The hotel manager was very helpful, and spent time with us suggesting where we would like to go and how to get there, and because of thiswe saw brilliant sights that we would not have found otherwise. It was the last available room, purchased through an internet booking. It was characterised as a 2nd floor double room. But upon arrival we realised that that is not what we got. What we did get is a room squeezed between the roof beams in such a way that you can hardly use half the surface of the room without banging your head. You can't use the toilet […] standing up, you can hardly get into the shower, you can't brush your teeth at the sink and so on. Brief: You would never accept this room if you could first check it. The breakfast is fine, the owner friendly, the swimming pool a nice extra. But the next time you bang your head you realise you will definitely not return. Just because that friendly owner annex good cook ripped you off by deliberately offering you a worthless room through the internet. Read more

Bed & Breakfast (geen hotel) waarbij eigenaar Mike s' morgens het engels ontbijt klaar maakt, inclusief zelf gemaakte appelsap en honing (ook te koop). Kamers erg klein maar wel netjes en huiselijk. Net en verzorgd sanitair. Vlakbij is een pup waar je voor redelijke prijs wat kan drinken en eten. In de omgeving is niet veel te beleven.
