"Give Valance a go"
2 night stay as a surprise to the wife, place ticks a lot boxes.Very warm welcome with good staff and generally a cool vibe about the café/bar element, little terrace front and back, plenty of seating is side. Breakfast was a v good selection - no English breakfast tho and we thought we would go out for a full English but never did, there are plenty […] of places within 5/10 min walk if you must. Rooms are nice but a little small, decent size bathrooms, our bath was bigger than average so worth filling it up for a soak. Would recommend a stay here and its in a great spot amongst classy shops, decent food and drink alternatives. Castle is right behind the hotel and worth a visit for a few quid. Parking is a bit hit and miss as the hotel only has a couple of parking spaces allocated. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Quirky & characterful"
There is some noise at the front of the hotel if that's where your room is from the bar opposite, but that shuts at midnight & this is a main road with many bars & restaurants anyway. The rooms are above the hotels own bar/restaurant but there was no noise from that. Its a quirky, characterful village hotel/B&B & all the better for it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place to stay!"
We stayed for two nights in October for our anniversary. Lovely rooms, very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. We look forward to staying again in the futureGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice small hotel"
Location was fine set 5 minutes walk from the sea front, hotel was clean and staff all friendly, The continental breakfast was very good with fresh pastries etc.Overall a pleasant stay and will probably stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A short trip to Swansea"
Spent two nights at this lovely B&B. The staff were friendly and the small room had everything needed for a short break. The room is up a lot of steps so it's not suitable for the infirm. The continental buffet breakfast was served in the Cwtch Bar. It was enough for me but heartier appetites might have wanted more.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Weekend to explore Gower"
Mumbles was a good location to explore Gower. The hotel staff were really friendly, the facilities lovely and they couldn't do too much for us. Everything was better than we expected and made the price reasonable. Great for anyone who likes boutique type hotels with character in the heart of the village. The only price to pay was the noise from the […] nightclub. It didn't disturb us but if you're a light sleeper and like to have the window open, you may want a room at the back which is probably quieter. Limited choice of eating places after about 9pm which we found out when we arrived late. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Comfy beds quirky cafe"
Stayed one night and although the weather wasn't great we had a very warm welcome. Not much parking space but the staff helped us to with extra parking so it wasn't a problem. Would definitely make a return journey ! Nothing too much trouble and the extra touches we thought were lovely. The lack of plug points near mirrors was the only down side. All […] in all lovely B &B / cafe thanks Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Small room for the cost"
You cant fault the location, cleanliness or friendliness of the staff but the room is far too small for the price. Literally couldn't swing a cat in the room. Also paying that much money and entering via outside metal steps is more suited to a hostel than the cost per night room for staying here.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Charming little hotel crafted from a town house. Quirky Victorian architecture, wonderful view at rear and well appointed rooms.Genuine Expedia guest review
"lovely place hidden in plain sight"
Stayed here for a weekend whilst in the area for a wedding. The team there couldn't be more polite and helpful. Check in was quick and easy, they even kept the kitchen open a little longer so we could have something to eat. The cafe it self is lovely and bustling on a Saturday lunch time. Ambiance is nice and its tastefully decorated. Food and drink […] quality is good. The Room was slightly on the small side but it has stunning views of the castle if you have a rear facing view. Room is well furnished and the bathroom was lovely and clean. Breakfast was a continental with really good quality baked pastries and unlimited tea and coffee. Maid service available which was an unexpected treat. There is private access to the the rooms from the rear of the cafe in case your worried about curfews etc. (That comes with some b&bs) All to be said we had a lovely weekend and have found a little gem hidden on the high street. If we go visiting the mumbles again we will be sure to stay here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Nice people and nice rooms although quite small. Expensive but probably not out of keeping with the area. Unfortunately the room was cold when I arrived and you have to go outside to get to it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Friendly and very helpful staff"
Lovely rooms and the staff could not have been more helpful. The only slight issues were that the road outside our room was very noisy because of traffic and outside cafe seating just below our window. Also the rooms were separated from the cafe/bar by an outside wooden landing which was slippery when wet - even with the non slip mats, and a steep metal […] staircase, which could be hazardous in the wet and dark. Unusual to have rooms above a cafe but very well appointed and finished to a high standard, especially the bathroom. Although at the time of our visit there was a problem with the drains which caused an unpleasant smell in the bathroom. Service was very good and the breakfast was fresh with a good choice.(continental).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very pleasant weekend break"
The room, although small was very comfortable and the bathroom was excellent. Our room was at the back of the building and overlooked Oystermouth Castle and it was very picturesque. We were very lucky with the weather and hotel staff gave us some good directions to walk to Langland Beach which we very much enjoyed. The hotel was situated in a good position […] on the main street in Mumbles so that we could eat elsewhere and come back to the hotel for a night cap, although food was available at the hotel. It was unfortunate that the hotel was rather noisy from revellers outside, but it didn't worry us too much! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We recently spent three nights at the Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a small hotel in an excellent location The Mumbles . The staff was very friendly, polite and attentive. Overall, the service was excellent and the decor interesting. The rooms a bit small but very comfortable. Highly recommended. Would definitely return.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A quality stopover"
Stayed here after a wedding and although we didn't spend much time here it did the job - room was small but was well laid out so it had everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious but continental style, so don't stay here if not getting a full fry-up is a deal-breaker...Genuine Hotels.com guest review

this hotel is in a very good location for the Mumbles the staff were very friendly and helpful. You should be aware that the rooms are up an iron stairway and not suitable for disabled people.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean and contemporary but overpriced and noisy"
Stayed 2 nights over Easter with Partner. Good location just off the beach "strip" - Easy to find as whole building painted wine red with cute lights out front at night. Access to rooms is gained through bar/cafe, out the back, and up a flight of outdoor stairs - odd and disjointed. No reception for accommodation, you just deal with the bar staff. They […] were friendly and helpful though. Breakfast served at the back of the bar (access from room means going outside and down fire exit steps and in through bar back door) It was freezing when we stayed and this was a horrible and rude awakening before brekkie ! Lovely fresh croissants and pain au chocolat, choice of cereal and yoghurts, juice and hot drinks. Nice but limited. Rooms were clean but small. Supplied with dressing gown, hot drinks(no minibar), and complimentary toiletries although this included 4xconditionners and 1xshower gel! Towels were frayed and very rough. We had a Superior room (Layland) which was nice but a little cramped. Decor was modern, eclectic and tasteful. Bedside lamps weren't bright enough to read by. Main issue was with the bar opposite which was open late and who's music was VERY loud and stopped us sleeping both nights of our stay. Can only imagine that this will be worse in summer - wouldn’t recommend this room for that reason. All in all a mediocre overall experience with a strange set up/layout and too much noise. Overpriced in terms of value for money. Unfortunately wouldn't stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great place to stay"
The room was clean and comfortable, the big bath was a treat and the staff and owners treated us with great friendliness. The breakfast was great with plenty of choice, we didn't need a cooked breakfast and the room was serviced on Sunday. A great 2 night's stay and we'd definitely stay there again if we're in the area. "Impossible to sleep!"

Impossible to sleep. There's a pub ( with music) opposite de hotel and open until 2 a.m. !!!! A hell! The service is good and the breakfast is acceptable. I don't recommend it for people who want to have a relaxed saturday.
"Luxurious, great location and awesome breakfast"

We were really pleased we chose to stay here. The room was luxurious and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. We used the bar for a nightcap one night, followed by excellent live music the next - both nights had an excellent atmosphere. Seeing the food then made us come back the next night for dinner. Each morning we enjoyed a relaxed continental breakfast where nothing was too much trouble. Refills of tea and coffee all totally un-rushed whilst reading the papers. We would definitely recommend.
"A lovely cafe in a lovely location"
08/24/14 Peter R Swansea
Cafe Valance is a lovely cafe with a lovely atmosphere in a lovely environment. The food and drink is top class although can be a little pricey. It is well worth a visit when exploring the many places around the Mumbles. The staff are well trained and polite.

If you are looking for a chic boutique hotel in the heart of Mumbles night life, then this is your place! The room were decorated to a high standard, although not large, sufficient for our needs. All the staff are friendly and helpful and having a gorgeous cafe/bar to sit in was great. There was even seating out the front which was great for people watching whilst we sipped cocktails. Breakfast was of a continental style, which was perfect for us. There was parking to the rear of the Cafe and the menu was really delicious and well presented. 10 out of 10 from us and we will definitely be back again!
"Out of the ordinary"
08/06/14 2pence UK
Stayed at the Cafe Valance for two nights in one of their standard rooms. The Cafe itself is a lovely, quirky place with lots of individual charm. We ate there one evening and the food was great and not bad value. Staff in the cafe were friendly and helpful. The rooms themselves are located out the back of the cafe up some stairs. The room we had was quite small with only really enough space to walk around the bed. However it was modern and stylishly decorated, the bed was very good and the bathroom had an excellent shower. Bit disappointed that our room was not serviced during our stay although a staff member did ask 'did we need anything?'. Parking is a bit hit and miss, there are only about 2 spaces out the back so you maybe OK, you may end up driving around looking for a space. The room rate is also on a 'room only' basis but they do provide coffee, juice, pastries, etc. in the morning. This was fine for us but if you're expecting a fry up you'll be disappointed. All in all a fine place to stay and I would recommend it as long as you know what to expect.
"A lovely surprise"

What a little gem! Charming staff, excellent food and coffee, beautiful room, spacious bathroom, comfortable bed. We loved this place! Thank you to all the staff for making us feel so welcome and special. We had a splendid view of Oystermouth castle from the window and could sit outside on the back terrace in peace and quiet or enjoy the bustle of the street from the front of the cafe. Would recommend this to all.

having just come back from a weeks cruise in the med,my wife and i decided to go to mumbles for the day.its just down the road and the weather was fantastic.we were recommended by friends to try out cafe valance. a cafe bar which also offers accommodation.what an absolute gem it turned out to be.the menu was really fresh and exciting.we shared a mozzarella and sundried tomato flat bred sandwhich and a i had a really refreshing pint of san miguel.prices were very reasonable.the decor was stylish and the place had charming ambience.there's also a lovely terrace on the front which unfortunately we didnt get a chance to sit in as it was packed due to the nice weather.it really was like being in the med....we could have been in on the prom. in tel aviv, where we'd just come from.what a delight to find such a place in your own back yard.
"Great place to stay if your fed up of chain hotels."

We only had a one night stay but on arrival Nikki was very welcoming and showed us to a lovely room with a fabulous bathroom. The next morning , we went down for breakfast which is continental style. Although we were offered tea cakes, bagels or toast, there was plenty of choice on the buffet table. Delicious pastries and croissants, fruit, yoghurt, etc. Very friendly staff, no matter who you talked to they were all very friendly. We would definately stay again as we love the mumbles area. Thank you cafe valance!

We stayed here for one night, having stayed locally before we knew the area and had noticed this on a previous visit though was not aware they did rooms. The stay was lovely. Beautifully decorated. Both the rooms and the bar. Some fab touches with someone with a very good eye for detail. The menu in the pub is quite limited so we ate elsewhere in the evening but did have breakfast (though only continental breakfast is offered - but this was lovely and a huge variety including toast & bagels). The only thing is would say was at £140 per room per night I would have at least expected some water and biscuits in the room. There were tea and coffee sachets and little milk cartons but for the price I feel there should have been a few more extra touches. Definitely worth a visit though rooms are a bit pricy.
"Too small for the price"
05/18/14 ChesterPinkpanther chester
For £115 the room was far too small, it should have been at least twice the size. There was nothing wrong with the room just its size, I think less larger rooms would have been a better use of the space - that or charge the rooms out at about £60 per night. Also to enter the rooms you have to use the back metal steps past customers having a drink on the back terrace, again fine but not when you are paying such a high fee. I booked it as the photos made it look very special but to be honest I was disappointed and felt a bit ripped off. Breakfast was very nice (continental).
