"Bob the Builder was here!"

Firstly the location of the hotel is perfect. Slap bang right in the middle of the busy town centre. In the evening you can sit on the hotel terrace and people watch. The hotel is also circled with Italian designer boutiques. The reception and public areas are open and light and then you get your first glimpse of evidence that this is a family hotel. The owners kids are running around reception and playing games on the front desk terminal while the receptionist looks like she is about to have a nervous breakdown. Check in is very rushed and we had to ask for basic information : Are you serving dinner tonight, where is breakfast served and at what time? Dinner in the cafe bar restaurant at the front of the hotel and was really delicious. The fish dishes were excellent. The service was excellent. We had to very friendly girls, one from Austria and one from Kosovo. We had opted to eat at the front as the restaurant was very busy (with groups) and very humid. Thats because at the end of the restaurant you have the swimming pool. Yep and I mean they have dinner tables right to the side of the pool. The whole restaurant has a strong odour of chlorine. Therefore not our choice of places to eat. But in the morning well it will be oke for that and we need to eat. The next morning the smell of chlorine was not the problem but the breakfast was a disgrace, There was a choice of bread rolls ham and cheese or jam or dried out cake. I wanted an apple out of a bowel but they were decoration which was seen by the restaurant staff who found it quite amusing. There was cereal and yoghurt. The try to fool people by taking the sliced packet cheese out of the packing and arrange it nicely on a plate. Just when you are trying to control your mouth from watering at this culinary adventure you are suddenly confronted with a board on the breakfast table with the announcement: "This is breakfast no picnic. Suddenly I was very self conscious of how much food i was putting on my plate. Certainly was not a lot of this rubbish. Not at any point, apart from the apple incident, did the staff engage in any sort of communication with us. I noticed it was the same for the rest of the guests too. They never even acknowledged that we were guests of even welcomed anyone they passed. It is totally bizarre. It is as if the guests and the staff are living in 2 separate worlds and they just co-exist! Bizarre. When I walked in to the hotel room the room the main lights were on and it still felt like walking in to a storage room. Getting to the balcony is like an assault course. The balcony doors were all blacked out with first the most disgusting set of curtains I have ever seen and which weighed a ton.. A balcony door which had never been cleaned in quite some time and the runners needed oiling. Then finally this giant brown metal sliding door which would look at home as a door at the side of a farm shed. When you opened the metal door the metal handle on metal door produces a noise which is frightning. the room is different shades of sickening green. The wardrobes and the desk areas look like they have been home made and have had a very bad paint job of the wrong kind of paint. It just looks like something knocked up from reclaimed wood. The airco switch, which is way outdated, well not actually sure if that works, but no way was I touching that switch. The bathroom was also a green and disgusting. There are tiles cracked on the floor around the area of the shower. Which has an anti slip mat which had a nice decoration of mould. The whole bathroom was old and out dated. The vanity area above the sink was from plastic which was all cracked and stained. The place just looked unsanitary. The bedroom floor was the only beautiful thing in the room. It was an original hard wood floor but it was sad to see that it had not been taken care of. We refused to accept this room and got placed in a far better modern room at the front of the hotel. The room was very modern clean and bright. I dont mind the street noise but I can imagine that it could annoy a lot of people. It is a hotel that has been recently been bought back by the original owners. That was to be seen in the evening when the whole family congregated in the cafe bar where we were sitting having a quiet drink. You suddenly feel out of place and feel as if you are in someone elses front room and should not be there. Not a nice feeling. A hotel with a lot potential when the renovations are complete and something is done to the whole management of this gold mine of a property. I could not recommend this hotel to anyone.
"Tuscan style charm"

We visited this hotel with a group and just loved it. The hotel is in a great location! You can sit for hours outside on the balcony and just people watch. But if you want to do more, your location gives you so many choices...visit shops, pubs, parks, so much with this location. The hotel has older architecture--Tuscan Style. This style has a lot of antiques and darker rooms. Some rooms are better than others. Some people don't understand the Tuscan style, but this is the region of Italy. Not your typical commercial style with all white and modern--which is why we like it! This hotel has history. Food was fabulous, with 5 courses and dishes from the region. The staff, amazing! Best of all you see and chat with the family your entire stay. They are helpful with any questions or problems! Simona, the owner is charming and so sweet!
"First night was bad, but got better"

Traveling with a group (50+) is always interesting. Our first night here, our 'assigned' room was really unacceptable. Stuffy, dirty, moldy, dim, etc. etc. After mentioning our discomfort to our tour guide, she got us a new room by the next night (Ambra was amazing!). New room was cleaner, more spacious, better bathroom, better lighting, just better all the way around. Based on that, I changed the rating from average to very good. But why didn't we get that one in the first place? Service was OK, food was generally good. Traffic in front of the Hotel was busy and sometimes noisy, even at night. Local club hotspot was also noisy late at night. (yes, we could hear it in our room). OK, but not great. Staff was tolerant, but not overly friendly or helpful.
"Good location, friendly and welcoming"

We spent a week here in September 2013. The rooms were basic but clean and adequate for 3 star. The food was plentiful and very good and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The location was perfect for us, close to the centre of town and the railway station. We travelled to Florence, Pisa and Viareggio and various other locations during the week and this was an ideal location for people wanting to explore the surrounding area. It was excellent value for money.

Go to this hotel with confidence. The rooms are not four star but clean and serviced daily with changes of towels and linen.Evening meal is five courses with soup, varied pasta second course, help yourself salad course with very varied choice, main course of very good quality and variety and a desert.Breakfast of usual cheese and ham slices but also cereals, croissants, boiled eggs, yoghourts, cakes etc.etc. Staff in all departments are very pleasant and helpful. Town centre location (very near station and high class shops). Pool. What more could you want? We went with Newmarket Holidays and were more than satisfied. You get what you pay for and more !!!
"Dark and gloomy place"
09/01/13 Kriis172 Odessa, Ukraine
Regarding it`s a three star hotel we didn`t expect much, but the rooms weren`t really pleasant to stay in - clean, but cold, with dark green coloured walls which was a bit depressive and the bathroom was awful - dark, tiny and uncomroftable at all. I would say it all needs repairing or maybe just refreshing not to look so cold and gloomy. Breakfast was fine and the location of the hotel is very good, just at the centre of the town, but due to the interior I wouldn`t be willing to stay there for a longer period.

We travelled to Tuscany in November 2012 and stayed at this hotel for three nights. The trip was organinized by an agency so we couldn't choose the hotel ourselves. We didn't feel comfortable staying at this hotel. It definitely needs renovation. The room was small with a small bathroom and it smelt unpleasantly. There was no heating in it, the room was cold, and with the dark green colour on the walls and poor lighting, we felt it was even colder. The food wasn't good either.
"It is a great 3 star hotel."
First things first, it is a 3 star hotel and you cannot expect more of it. That being said, the room was very clean and so was the bathroom. The restaurant has delicious dinner courses in great portions, the location of the hotel is great (right in the downtown district) but the best thing was the service. EVERYONE was super friendly and helpful. Things to lookout for are, the room that we got on the third floor was extremely warm and the air conditioner was not that good, besides you cannot leave it on without the key card (tip! take an extra plastic card in your wallet that you don't need any more and it'll do the trick ;) As a budget hotel I recommend it. As a romantic get away...not so much! Would I go back there... Depends if I have more cash or not next time I visit the region.

I stayed at this Hotel for three nights last week. The Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The Hotel is very nice and just in the center of the city, near also to the Spa establishments. My room was clean and large with a balcony facing on the main street and with every kind of comfort. The bathroom was also a nice size with . Breakfast was just ok. Dinner also was good with choice for the first and the second course. The salad buffet was really a surprise; every kind of fresh vegetables on it and also a lot of typical tuscan dishes. If you are planning a stay in Montecatini I would recommend staying here.

We stayed at this hotel with a coach load of friends and found the staff very friendly and helpful. The owners were more than helpful and were available and seen by guests more often than not. The rooms could do with a facelift and some more modern facilities and were quite small, but otherwise very clean. There is a very nice swimming pool which very cleverly is floored over of an evening and doubles up as a dance floor The food was much better than expected and definitely better than what is normally served up to "groups" There was a lot of noise outside but it was a very special weekend with a Harley Davison motorbike convention on then football celebrations so I wouldn't expect that level of disturbance normally All in all - excellent location for trips out and sightseeing, very clean, excellent staff and good food - would stay again if in the area
