Tantalo Hotel / Kitchen / Roofbar - Panama City

The room was modern and well decorated. We decided to go to bed at 10:30pm. Well, we were trapped like in "The Pit and the Pendulum" (The classic horror tale by Edgar Allan Poe). The room door was adjacent to the central patio overlooking the restaurant on the ground floor (THE PIT) where there was music playing at full volume. We could hear the music […] as if it were right inside our room. After calling the manager and reminded him that we had ask for a QUIET ROOM when we did our booking, he told us that the Hotel was noisy and each room received a share of the noise. At about 11pm, the music at the roof bar, just one floor above us started (THE PENDULUM). This was even worse, since it was dance music with a bass beat: bum, bum, bum...It was absolutely impossible to try to sleep. After complaining, the Hotel staff told us that their Hotel was FAMOUS for their roof bar and that the music would continue until 3am! They finally agreed to move us to one free room opposite to the one we had, where the music was still present but not so loud. I personally was not able to sleep until the music finished at 3am and had to wake up at 6am because I had an early flight. So I ended up paying for a torture and a 3 hour sleep period almost 200 US$. The Casco Viejo is undergoing major renovations, as a result there are several closed streets and a lot of traffic, it is not a good place to stay in Panama City until the works are finished. The service and food was impeccable here. It is truly a very cool and hip place to stay. The furniture in the rooms were ultra modern and just really neat. The front desk was able to make arrangements for us, including nearby restaurant reservations, taxis, and more. Taxis are essential for getting to other parts of the city, however.

This hotel has a very hip scene. There is a big restaurant in the lobby with friendly service and good food. Every employee was so attentive and willing to help. We never made it to the bar, but looked to be fun. Next time. It's not supper quiet or sedate. Go up the street for that.

Fun, modern hotel with amazing staff (very, very helpful) and a cool funky vibe. Loved the rooftop bar (and the ability to skip the queue as a hotel guest) and breakfast in the morning was delicious. A great place to stay in Panama City.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay on Tantalon Hotel. Everything was "de primera". The roof bar has an amazing view of the city and the bartenders were just fantastic....and the selection of wine too !!! We ate in the restaurant (1st floor), the food was superb and the attention....For sure we will go back to that nice hotel !

we had a wonder two nights stay at Tantalo and were very impressed by professionalism and friendliness of the hotel staff and the condition of our very large room. We had a typical Panamanian lunch in their ground floor resturant which was amazing and the rooftop is very charming.

Just be aware of the extended hours bar scene on the roof on Friday and Saturday nights . It's a small place and there's no escaping the music and fun cascading down from above 'till 3:00am. We used a small dose of Ambien and had no problem.

Charming old town location, nice hotel, modern, clean, trendy. We loved how huge and modern the room was. Parking was difficult and next to impossible to find in the old town. Luckily we found a sneaky spot to park. We tried to eat at the restaurant at night but despite the restaurant being 3/4 empty, we were sat at these mini tables made of suitcases […] (which felt like kids tables) and told we couldn't sit at the main tables because of reservations. This was a bit strange as most of the main tables were empty and had plenty of room. We ended up leaving to eat down the street. We stayed during a Saturday night and the restaurant and rooftop bar get super busy and noisy. The party continued on through the night and when we wanted to sleep we found it difficult to sleep with all the excessive noise. We also thought that 11am check out was way too early, especially considering the lack of sleep from all the party noise! Read more

The Tantalo was a new, modern, friendly hotel. This is the place to stay, the place to eat and the place to be especaily on a weekend night. It has great modern-large rooms, comfortable beds and all the necessaties. The hotel staff was soooo friendly (Rita at the front desk was great and so friendly). The location was great for walking around Casco […] Viejo. It has a rooftop bar where it looks like it's the place to be if you want view, music and interesting people. Had a great stay at Tantalo. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly, and each room is decorated in a modern, unique style. The rooftop bar is popular, which was a plus for us but keep in mind youll be staying at a busy place! Would definitely stay here again. Oh, and the food is amazing.

the hotel is in the casco viejo, an up and coming and very romantic district of panama. great nightlife in the hotel and in the surrounding area. the rooms are eclectic - our had a love hurts theme. the food is great. delicious breakfast. the people who work here are kind and lots of fun. perfect for those who like trendy.
