Glendona House - Antrim county

On the plus side, the hotel staff was friendly, the facility is modern, the lobby and lounge were quite nice; and, it's an American thing, but I appreciated the ice machine.On the negative side, the rooms are extremely small-you couldn't pull out the sofa bed and use the desk at the same time.The sights that we wanted to see and the pubs were not within walking distance; we had to drive or take a taxi. The biggest minus was the extra charge placed on my credit card. Even though I paid in full for the room when I made the reservation, they place an additional charge (I think it was 15 pounds per night) which stays on your card for 30 days, just in case you incur additional charges.

Staff were lovely, and the place overall was spotless. Breakfast was freshly cooked and plentiful, and the hours during which it was served were reasonable. My single room had a sink, television, dresser, nightstand, and plenty of outlets. Noise from the road was minimal. However, the shared bathroom was abused by other guests (shower broken because they couldn't figure out how to use it), and the hallway floors in a building of that age are quite creaky. Doors are rather thin, as well. Well-served to the city center by the 9A/B/C bus, but rather a long hike on foot. Tesco superstore a 10 minute walk south, various convenience stores and restaurants nearby.

I was very pleased with our stay. The B&B is 1890's row house on very quiet street that is only blocks from Queen's University and around the corner from lots of restaurants and pubs. Easy walking distance to anything around Queens and about 20-30 minute walk to areas of downtown Belfast. Near bus lines and easy to get cab if you don't want to walk. Lynn was a wonderful hostess. Friendly and interested. She gave us several good suggestions that really were excellent and increased the enjoyment of our trip. One could certainly spend more and have a more elegant room but I found our room very comfortable and convenient. I didn't understand when I booked that the bathroom is shared and probably wouldn't have booked if I had known. In the end I'm glad I didn't know this because it wasn't a big issue and I so enjoyed the B&B. Breakfasts were good, eggs/ toast and cereal. Lynn is very accommodating regarding preferences. The B&B was spotless. I swear she must have cleaned the bathroom several times daily.

This is a wonderful hotel. Rooms are good size. Bed is comfortable. Staff is very helpful. Only thing to change would be more variety on menu in restaurant---not just Italian.
