Cherrytree Villa Guest House - Edinburgh

Staying here is like going to stay with friends. If you are expecting a traditional hotel, you will be disappointed. I read the reviews in advance of booking and was not disappointed in the least. Peter, the manager, was great - very friendly, hospitable, and welcoming. We stayed in the ensuite - 2 twins and a double bed with a bathroom. It was perfect […] for us. I would guess it's about a mile and a half to the royal mile, but it's a straight shot - one road and you're there. No issues with the room. Breakfast was served from 8-10 and was cooked by two women. Eggs, some breakfast meats, and some breakfast breads, OJ, apple juice, coffee, tea. It was lovely. There are a few restaurants around and great pubs - within a 5 minute walk or so. Just have appropriate expectations when you book and it will be a delightful stay. Read more

Really enjoyed staying there. Peter, the owner , was great. He was friendly and gave me a free upgrade to a bigger room. The room was big, had an outside patio, clean and charming. Downtown was a 15 min walk away through a nice area. Breakfast was awesome. I ended up staying an extra night!

The Cherrytree Villa Guest House is nicely located near Edinburgh City Centre and Holyroode Park. They have off street parking and since we had rented a car, this was nice. Peter was very nice and helpful. Upon our arrival, he gave us an overview of the area and how to get around. The breakfast was good, but not the same "Full Scottish Breakfast" we […] received elsewhere. No Haggis, potatoes, or Lornes Sausage. No tomato either. A little skimpy. Overall, my experience was nice. The beds were comfortable, the water hot and good pressure in the shower. TV and Wifi worked well. My experience at this hotel was amazing. Peter really makes you feel like family when you are staying at this hotel. He went above and beyond with the service provided. Although this city is not directly in the city center, there are a bunch of buses that you can take from a bus stop that is 2 minutes away from the hotel that will take you to the city […] center in 10 minutes. i booked the smallest room not knowing that it really was in the attic and most of the room i could not even stand up because it really was in the eves of the roof! Being 6 feet tall I actually had to crawl to the bed so nopt to hit my head. in addition to being freezing cold on top of that.

First time booking a hotel for my self, obviously i went for the cheapest option near the city. This is a easy walk into Edinburgh or a short bus trip away for £1.50, on the main street so plenty range of buses to catch! The manager/Owner (i think) text me before hand to set up a check in time, pretty much when ever and even though my train was late […] and got in about a hour after i said i would, he was still there to greet me and tell me every thing i need but was also very understanding! Although it was only me, a single student he kindly upgraded me to a double and two single bedded room with a en suit! The room was nice and clean i couldn't fault one thing! I had my own set of keys to get in and out of the hotel and he kindly said i could come in and leave when ever i liked and left me too it. This is what i liked most the freedom, it felt like my own house but i knew they were only a stone throw away as he left me plenty of ways to contact them etc. Breakfast was included it included all sorts, ive actually had more choice here than most the big branded hotels, chose not to have cooked breakfast as i was eating out but the option was still there and did smell very nice, I checked out at 11 this again was when ever i wanted really but i didn't want to take the mickey and make it too late, very simple and no hassle. We spent four nights here during the Fringe. It's an ideal place for this. Location is good as buses are just two minutes walk away, leave every five minutes or so, and 10-15 minutes later you are right in the centre. We walked it several times in 20 minutes. The Cherrytree Villa Guest House was an excellent find, we were staying in Edinburgh for 1 night to attend a concert at Edinburgh Castle and were looking at crazy prices to stay overnight but found this place on Hotels.com at a bargain price for 2 in a double room with breakfast and thought why not. Firstly it's only 5 minutes from the centre by bus […] in a really quiet and upmarket area of Edinburgh, the guest house itself is lovely and clean, the room and bed were perfect for what we needed and all in all I would stay again, ideally for longer. What really set it apart though and would make me want to go back was Peter, the chap who runs the guest house. He emailed me beforehand to see when we were arriving so he could make sure he was available to greet us, he opened the front door and immediately welcomes us by name then gave us a wee tour, explaining all the local amenities, bus times, prices etc and went out of his way to make us feel like guests in his home rather than customers. Overall this was a great stay. The owner did everything he could for you to make sure everything was ok and you had all the information require for a visit to Edinburgh. Advice - ask about how to turn the heating off when you arrive. The room was lovely and warm but we couldn't find the heating switch to turn off through the night. As in most city […] houses the downstairs windows don't open. This was no problem for us as we just wedged the door open for 10 mins or so to let some cool air in. - ask for a room with curtains and not just blinds. simple things to do and if they are done you will have an excellent stay here! The B and B is very close to the centre of town (walking distance), but as I had a broken leg we used the local bus service to get in and out of the centre. The bus runs from literally the end of the road, was very frequent and took about 10 minutes max into town. Nous avons du l'appeler deux fois avec notre telephone pour qu'il arrive. Unique soirée à Edimbourg amputée d'une heure et donc gâchée à cause de son manque de professionnalisme. Ein wenig überraschend war, dass das WC und Dusche sich auf dem Gang befunden hat. Frühstück war für schottische Verhältnisse eher recht knapp bemessen. Das Hotelteam war jedoch sehr zuvorkommend. Als Familienhotel auf Grund der steilenTreppe nicht geeignet. Der Preis ist für unser Zimmer (Klo und Dusche auf dem Gang) viel zu hoch gewesen.
