Sol Mayor Apartments - Madrid

I book this hotel due to location, close to my business area. The room is very nice, and big, a loft with capacity up to 5 people, but its full of young people that party in the rooms all night long until 3 AM. And no security or staff to make them shut up. If you wat to sleep, go somewhere else.

We wanted to say somewhere near Sol, but we ended up with a disaster. It was hard to find due to poor labeling and when we arrived there was no one at the reception. We had to use a payphone to call and we were told he would send a friend of his to open the room as he seemed to have forgotten about our reservation. The service continued in this way, […] his friend forgot the card reader, our questions and complaints were ignored, and there was never anyone in the reception to field questions or even check out with. We will not be staying there again (in fact, we moved hotels the next day) and I would recommend either spending a little more money on some of the better hotels in the area or staying farther away and simply using the metro. Excellent location. Had a problem with no water one day and when water was running the hot water runs out quick, due to small water heater. Also,a little hard locating the on site property manager.

This is located at the heart of Madrid. Close to all attractions and transportations. It is across the Metro. The studio we stayed in is very clean but the air condition did not work well, however it did not bother us too much since we were out early and got back to the hotel late.There are so many places to eat around the hotel, a casino, and a copuple […] of blocks from Plaza Mayor. We loved our little apartment right off Puerta del Sol. The location was perfect - we could walk to most everything. The only drawback was having the bathroom light burn out for 2 days and not being able to get that replaced. Other than that - wonderful!

I was very disappointed. Safe did not work, I felt uncomfortable leaving my personal items in room. I took all my belongings with me every day. I thought hotels.com said everything was taking care of. It took me 4 hours to find a Internet cafe with phone and begin to communicate with someone in Spanish who spoke no English. no service! I was lucky in that an apaprtment tenant called the contact number for me - unable to locate anyone in the building with the directions I was provided. I speak some Spainish, but the man who checked me in would not speak English or Spanish with me. Never saw him again in our 2 days there. Great apartment, centrally located and perfect for a short break in Madrid. The only watch out being, it was difficult to contact the manager/owner when we arrived - There was noone on reception and it took a couple of attempts to reach by phone. Other than this small inconvenience the apartment was value for money.

Overall it was a good apartment overlooking Puerta del Sol. The caretaker showed us first an apartment we would not have enjoyed at all and we were lucky we got the one overlooking the square. The biggest problem was there was no window covering so everyone can see in, not sure why the owners thought that was a good idea. For this price, a perfect thing for a family. Windows to the Puerta del Sol, but good solid windows that there was basically no noise. Clean simple apartment. The only minus was the neighbour (the walls were paper thin) and her three reggaton songs on repeat everyday.

it's in a centric location, really in Puerta del Sol. just walking distance , about 5 min, to Plaza Mayor and the rest of the tourist attractions. We just walked everywhere, and so convenient. finding food is just next door to the apartment or in front of the apartment. There's El Corte de Ingles, which is a posh supermarket, in which you can find everything […] there. It's next to a police station, which we thought should be safe, but on our 1st night in Madrid, we had to runaway & stayed in another hotel far away because there was a demonstration (by the Uni students). It was supposed to be a peaceful, but they became aggresive & fought with the policemen. Read more

Glimrende beliggenhet midt i sentrum av Madrid, men hvis dere skal bo i dette leilighetskomplekse så anbefaler jeg virkelig å ta bilder av møblene som står i leiligheten. Ettersom det er nedgangstider så vil de prøve å si at dere som har bodd der har ødelagt. Men ellers er det billig og i nærheten av alt .

Très bien placé sur la Puerta Del Sol à quelques mètres de la superbe Plaza del Mayor. La chambre donnait côté cour donc silencieuse. 4ème étage avec ascenseur. Appartement petit et demandant un bon rafraichissement des peintures. Par contre l'énorme défaut est qu'une des chambres comportait un lit en 110 donc minuscule pour un couple. We were 5 guys who were going to Madrid to watch football. We got this 5 persons appartment, which were actually big enough for 5 persons (even 6 if 2 shares the queen size bed). It is located right on the corner of Puerto del Sol and yet we didn't hear any noise from the streets when we were in the appartment. The service level i hard to judge, since […] it is an appartment, you have to phone in you have arrived and if you need anything you would likewise have to make a phone call since there is no reception and the little porter who sits in the entrance to the appartment building only knows to point at the sign with the number to the appartment responsible... but all in all it was a great appartment to stay in, and I could most definetly go back here again.
