"hotel is by pompeii station , not pompeii scavi"
We gave 5 for surrounding cause there's a mcdonald next block because we cannot handle anymore pizza & pasta. Entrance to pompeii is like 3 blocks away. Postal, bank and Train station are behind the near by square. Location is 3 because we didn't know about the closer station"Pompeii" and got off at "pompeii scavi" which orginally had to walk about […] 25 min to reach hotel. hotel is easily missed even tho its right on the main road. We walked passed it and later kept on asking direction to lead us back...and people don't speak English. hotel owners are nice, rooms are roomy. Breakfast are good, croissan, pastry, yogurt but no savory food. There is a carrefour supermarket between ppmpeii scavi station and hotel which is a bit of walk. "Nice hotel in quiet side of Sorrento"
This hotel is located in a very quiet side of Sorrento, which can be very busy during the summer! It's near the water and has one of the best breakfasts I've had in Europe, both in terms of the food/service and in terms of the view - you have a spectacular view of the water, cliffs, and Mt Vesuvius in the distance. We really enjoyed those meals! The […] hotel really focuses on their service, this is a place to go to if you want to treat yourself to a nice relaxing time and spend time in the hotel and at the pool and such, if you are using it as a place just to sleep then it may not be the best use of resources. However we would definitely stay there again if we found ourselves in Sorrento. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice quiet hotel."
The lobby area is a little shabby but our room was comfortable. The hotel is on a side street and the room was quiet and close to lots of local activity, restaurants and the entrances to the ruins. The breakfast room was bright and cheerful and the selection of items was impressive. The hotel staff was very friendly. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor […] covered area where we could enjoy our glass of wine and look over travel information. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Comfortable hotel just outside gates of Pompeii"
When we called to confirm our arrival time, Teresa told us how much a taxi should cost from Naples. She made us feel very welcome and at home. She gave us great directions to the Carrefour, the local supermarket so we could save money on food. The place was clean and the staff very friendly. We put our passports and laptop in the safe provided in the […] room while visiting the ruins. The breakfast consisted of croissants, pastries, "American" bread for toasting, jams, etc. A non-sugar eater, I just enjoyed sitting in the sunny breakfast area with my daughter. There were no hidden charges. The rate was fair. The free high speed internet worked very reliably in the room and on the second floor breakfast area. Wooden shutters helped muffle the noise from the street in front of the hotel. (Bring ear plugs to sleep with if you are sensitive to noise.) I'll recommend the Santa Catarina to my friends and will stay there again if I can talk my husband into visiting one of the most fascinating archaeological sites on the planet. Joseph, the owner, was very nice and accomodating. On our ck out day, we were leaving really early and breakfast didn't start til 8am but he still managed to send us off with the breakfast and coffee. The location of the hotel was perfect for the ruins. I much rather stay in Pompeii than Naples. It was much cleaner and quieter. And the restaurant right […] next door, Adu Mimi (I think) was also great! Everything was great at the hotel. I would stay here again next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Lovely small hotel, very centrally located - close to everything (Pompeii excavation entrance, station, shops etc). Proprietor/manager is a really nice chap and very helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect location for historic sights"
Our room was not in the hotel but in one of 4 ground floor lodges across the car park. This was OK but having had breakfast the next morning in the hotel it appeared to be better appointed so if we stayed again we would request being in the hotel itself. This said the lodges were quite adequate of a good size and all facilities working well. Very nice […] helpful owners and staff. Very close to the entrance to the historic site and certainly within walking distance. Pompei has a nice lively atmosphere in the evenings particularly around the main square. Dated decor but clean. Within walking distance to the ruins. Restaurants and the circumvensia within walking distance. The wifi was slow and spotty, seems to be a symptom throughout the city as my phone would not connect either.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Wonderful hotel - absolutely amazing staff. Only downside is the traffic from the main road, lots of beeping so bring earplugs :)Genuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect Location for Everything!!!"
Michael and I stayed for 5 nights and we were given a room at the rear of the building. Although the 1st night it did smell of cigarette we were too tired to bother about it. The room was very spacious and clean. Our bed was so comfy and cosy. The bathroom was just as lovely. Best of all it was close to everything. Pompei Ruins, Shops and one if our […] fav Restaurants even the train stations were only minutes either side. The staff were very helpful and so lovely. I would def come back and stay here but not sure if theyd have a big enough room for my tribe. I would also recommend it to my family and friends for sure. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Excellent family run hotel in Pompei. This is not the Hilton but if your looking for an authentic hotel close to the heart of Pompei, this hotel will suit you perfectly. Walking distance to the ruins and directly on the main street close to restaurants etc.We had a great stay here. The wifi was poor but that wasn't a major concern to us at the timeGenuine Hotels.com guest review
飯店位置很棒，離Pompei車站不遠，也有免費停車場。房間乾淨，有Wi-Fi ，有冷氣，有盥洗旅行組，重點是老闆很親切，我們用破英文也可溝通，整體來說很棒。Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Gemütliches Hotel in perfekter Lage"
Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The hotel location was perfect, close to the ruins and near shopping, restaurants, etc. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The view of Mt. Vesuvius from our window was breathtaking. The breakfasts served from the lovely terrace each morning were delicious. The staff was so very helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make sure that our stay in beautiful Pompeii was perfect. I would definitely recommend Hotel Santa Caterina and plan to stay there again.
"Clean and Comfortable"

Teresa and her husband run a lovely hotel. Breakfast provided on the second floor with nice views of the surrounding hills. Spacious rooms, nice bathrooms with shower in the main building. There is also a motel type section on the opposite side of the hotel parking lot but these did not offer a view. The hotel is clean, comfortable and economical, the staff friendly and willing to assist with directions and suggestions for dining. Great location in close proximity to tour Pompei or a day trip to Naples, Sorrento/ Positano.

Great value. Great location very close to the ruins just one block from one entrance. Several dining options just walking around, great family restaurant just across the street. If you are driving parking is complementary and spacious. Breakfast is included just basic.
"Good, convenient hotel for Pompeii ruins"
04/02/14 BucksJanet Bucks
We spent 2 nights here recently. As other reviewers have commented it is very convenient for one of the entrances to the ruins and this was the reason we chose it. Our bedroom was on the side of the hotel, so reasonably quiet. The room was a good size, nicely decorated with a mini fridge and heating and separate air conditioning. Bathroom was and very clean. Our only complaint was that the safe in the wardrobe did not work. Breakfast was very acceptable and taken in a sunny terrace room on the second floor. The staff were very nice and English was spoken. There was a fairly large car park at the rear of the hotel which we took advantage of as we had driven up from Puglia. We would certainly return.
"Friendly and Clean"

Its a hotel with everything at your fingertips. The rooms are clean and the staff are very friendly. The location is perfect for the Pompeiian traveller. My husband and I enjoyed our stay. If we were to return, This is where we will stay. Breakfast is a small but very delicious selection of croissants, Yoghurts and Juice. Cosy home away from home. Only a 2mn walk to Pompei Ruins, Shops outside the door and train stations either side are roughly 5-10mn walk. Very handy.
"Lovely rooms, great location"
04/11/13 margaretlucy London, United Kingdom
The hotel is lovely and well-decorated, with a terrace off the breakfast room and another off the lobby. The rooms are clean and attractive, and the staff are helpful. It is very well located - a short walk from the three train stations in Pompeii, close to the city centre, and close to the ancient ruins. There are bars, restaurants, and gelaterias very nearby. Some of the staff don't speak English, so if you have complicated questions and little command of Italian, there may be a slight problem. However, there's a computer in the lobby, so I used Google Translate to make myself understood! If I ever return to the area, I will definitely stay there again.
"2 night stay in Pompeii"
03/02/13 Kucaman Chyne, Czech Republic
In June 2012 we made a trip to Naples and Pompeii. We spent 2 nights in familly hotel Santa Caterina. It is small hotel, but with a nice rooms and good service. The best is to have a breakfast on the upper terace. Staff was nice and helpful. There is a short distance to Pompei-Scavi (excavations). about 2 min of walk. We bought a tickets to Vesuvio by Tramvia also in this hotel. Nice trip at all with a teaste of wine. I can only recommend this hotel. Thanks

Santa Caterina is a lovely hotel, comfortable, stylish, well maintained and with friendly, helpful staff, we have stayed at The Santa Caterina on several occasions and will definitely be returning. The hotel is within walking distance of the Pompei Excavations and the Sanctuary - also the Circumvesuviana rail station which is perfect for getting around the whole area from Naples to Sorrento.

Hotel Santa Caterina is located a few hundred meters from one of Pompeii's main entrances. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms were large and very clean--but ask for a room at the back of the hotel. You cannot beat the price. There is an excellent restaurant across the street which has no sign so ask the owner of the hotel, Theresa, to show you where to enter. Only locals were eating there so you know it has to be a good value.

Great location for the ruins as it is opposite the minor entrance for Pompeii. This can be useful for entering the ruins at one point ad leaving by another, although if you want to get the audio guide( makes a significant difference)only available at the Porta Marina entrance(leaving passport/ driving licence-so need to return to the same entrance to retrieve). The room large with great facilities, although the plumbing could be improved. The rooms have heavy windows shutters which shut out the noise of the traffic along the Via Roma in the evenings. No problems with air conditioning. Breakfast is a self service affair - yogourt, croissant - with different variations. Good vaule for money. Good parking.
