Albany House - Dublin

Albany house is a grand old building with numerous grand decorative touches. I would happily book there again, but only if I could specify in advance that my room would be on a lower floor. There is no lift, and dragging a heavy suitcase up 4 flights of stairs is a bit much.

Let's see.... No hot water one day. The desk clerk was VERY rude. He shoved us outside after our seven hour red eye without a map, coffee, an offer to use the WC, directions to somewhere we could get breakfast or a kind word. Overall, my stay was very pleasant. The hotel is very conveniently located. My room was on the 4th floor which was quite a challenge climbing the stairs. A lift would be nice. It would be quite nice if the breakfast includes such choices as eggs, bacon, sausage etc. The service is very good and the accomodations are quite nice.

B & B was great, but parking was an issue. You have to pay to park just to drop off your luggage. A parking garage about three blocks away did have a discounted parking fee for the B & B guests but it was still 15 euros per 24 hours. The B & B was centrally located, but noisy at night. Friendly staff, good breakfast, rooms small but comfortable. Keep in mind there are no elevators and some rooms are 4 flights up, so arrange for a room on the lower floors if you don't want to carry your baggage up.

While the Albany House is generally quite nice and in a great location, I had quite a few problems during my stay. The heat was broken when I arrived and all of the rooms were insanely hot. The hot water in my room was also touch and go. Finally, the noise from the street was impressively loud, even in the middle of the week.

good location but noisy late at night due to proximity of a night club room clean no double glazing but a heater and extra blankets were provided breakfast was limited in choice my room was at the top of the house and there are no lifts this was a big disadvantage climbing four double sets of stairs with luggage was quite a challenge

Not a thing I could fault the hotel with; very cosy and friendly, clean & comfortable. Really close to everything you'd want in Dublin too. However, Harcourt Street is a noisy place at the weekends at night time, so you may want to ask for a room at the back or bottom if you're not going out yourself.

The bathroom was newly decorated and the flow in the shower was minimal (may be beacuse I was on the fourth floor). We were looking for a hotel which was near to St.Stephens Green, was in a nice safe area, wasn't overly prim and proper and didn't cost too much. The Albany met all of our needs perfectly!
