wonderful place.. no pretense.. updated facility... professional, personal, caring, knowledgeble staff. location very close to old town and to airport bus line. breakfast great... AND they store bags if you have a late flight plus they have a shower & bath available after you check out and go to the beach. great place. my room even had a balcony with a table and two chairs.

I highly recommend if you are looking for something unique and relaxing. Beautiful resort in the rural Med Island of Formentera. You have to walk down to another beach about 5 minutes away as the hotel beach is very rough surf but Formentera is a very small island so you definitely want to explore all the beaches. Stay away the month of August as its way too crowded.

Description of Gran Sol - Sant Antoni de Portmany

Location.
Situated in Sant Antoni de Portmany, Gran Sol is on an island and close to Calo des Moro Beach, Passeig de ses Fonts, and San Antonio Marina Port. Also nearby are Cala Gracio Beach and San Antonio Beach.

Hotel Features.
This Sant Antoni de Portmany hotel offers a restaurant, a bar/lounge, and a snack bar/deli. The Gran Sol Hotel justifies it's excellent traveller reviews. It would also justify at least one more star rating. The Hotel is located in a quiet area... outside San Antonio yet within a 10 minute stroll to the bay. This hotel is kept in immaculate condition throughout. The rooms are spotless. A safe is provided free of charge. The swimming pool and surrounding garden area are superb. It's very quiet and peaceful. All of the staff are so obliging and friendly without exception. If you are a foodie then maybe half board isn't for you. The reataurant is bright and spotless too. Breakfast is lovely but for foodies the evening meal will not provide enough choice. The Gran Sol Hotel justifies it's excellent traveller reviews. It would also justify at least one more star rating. The location is ok close to main bustop however staff are very very rude. Breakfast is bad with staff turning the lights off & kicking customers out repeatedly at exactly 10:30am. Wifi is shocking hardly any good connection all over the hotel. Strange smell in bathroom.
