Our room was nice and comfortable and warm. The bed was a little hard but still managed to get a fair nights sleep. Breakfast wasn't that good for three mornings the sausages were not cooked enough. The staff were friendly but the Landlady/Landlord were never to be seen. On our first night a lout in the bar decided to use bad language which was never […] discouraged. Our last minute stay in a family room was cheaper than a Premier Inn but also included a free breakfast and wi-fi. The room was spacious and comfortable, the pub food was good and the locals were exceedingly friendly. My wife and I were going down to Brighton for the weekend and waited until the last minute to book out hotel. The prices for the hotels in Brighton were astronomical so we booked into the Roebuck Inn. It was quite easy to find using the SatNav (being that its a bit off the beaten path). We were greeted upon arrival and shown our room. the room was a […] bit small, but it was warm and cozy and the shower was fantastic. It was only about a 20 minute (if that) drive to Brighton, so it was well worth the cost. They didn't serve dinner on the Sunday night, so we went to a local pub that was maybe 5 minutes away. They were having Folk/Blues night so it was nice to get a bit of entertainment while we ate. Breakfast Monday morning was nice as well. It was good for the price. The staff were obliging and the accommodation was clean and tidy. A bit out of town but very quiet. Didn't eat the breakfast so I cannot comment on that. Would stay again if I was in the area.

Stayed here on Saturday night and overall would recommend as the price we got the room and breakfast included was very good. We arrived a bit earlier and the young lady at the bar very kindly let us put our bags in the room as we wanted to go into Brighton for the day. The room was a little tired and could do with a thorough clean as there were cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and the inside of the bathroom door was filthy. The room we stayed in (No 4) was absolutely boiling and we were unable to alter the thermostat so had to open the window all night even though it was freezing!! Breakfast was very good, we ate in the Pub and the food was very acceptable. All in all we were satisfied - with a bit of TLC this place would be very acceptable. Location - about 15 mins drive from Lewes - we parked in the Railway car park and hopped on the train to Brighton. Would recommend a visit to The Pavilion is you are interested in history. Read more

A very cheap B&B. The room had been fairly recently refurbished but still needed a little TLC to bring it up to scratch. Great location, good breakfast, but the most unfriendly place I've ever stayed in. Breakfast is not served until noon (as it says on this website) but is by appointment. They stop serving at 9.30 at weekends, and 9am on weekdays.No food served on Sunday evenings. We used the pub as a base to visit family. Very uncomfortable bed, Breakfast cooked before arrival in restaurant (not eggs) orange juice was squash or very cheap juice drink, jug for juice was sticky to touch, not clean. The cups and glasses in out room were not washed and the coffee and milk etc were not replenished. Nice accommodation in what must be a converted barn - I think only 4 rooms in total. Park right outside your room. Well equipped and comfortable. Friendly welcome and throughout our stay. Bed comfortable but short, no good if you are 6ft!! The wardrobe was less than half the recommended depth for clothes hanging, hence it was useless!! Neither were there drawers for clothes, so you had to live out of a suitcase! The en-suite had no shelf or cabinet so toiletories had to remain in bag balanced on the sink!! Easily accessible with a few steps up to the room; comfortable and cosy in the room with newly decorated en suite shower and toilet. Quiet because the rooms are away from the road, and plenty of parking. We enjoyed a fine English breakfast and the friendly staff all around.

Dirty shower with someone else's hair hanging from the showerhead. Towels that smelt of chips. Bathroom radiator on permanently which made the entire room far too hot. Wifi didn't work in room, you have to go to the bar to use it which is no good if you have work to do.

This hotel was very a good motel style inn with character and proved to be ideal for our short visit to East Sussex. The room was adequatey sized for a couple, with a good firm double bed and clean shower room and toilet en-suite. Just one night B&B to go to a nearby wedding evening reception. Very friendly welcome. the rooms are round the side with their own individual entrance. We arrived fairly late and there was a function in progress at the Inn. This meant it was difficult to find a place to park, but we were able to move our car close to our room once the function was over. We were greeted warmly and invited to have a meal. We declined but asked if we could have some biscuits and cheese (which was not mentioned on the […] extensive and reasonably priced menu). This was not a problem and an excellent cheeseboard was soon served on a slate platter with four types of cheese, plenty of biscuits and some quince jelly. I stayed one night at the Roebuck inn in Lewes and I don't think I would stay there again. It was all a little makeshift and unorganized. I booked through Hotels.com and they took some time find my booking. the Room was nice and spacious but the bathroom left alot to be desired plus we were right outside the pub carpark which at times was noisey.
