Hotel Welcome - Dunkerque

Clean, on the beach, near restaurants. Bright interior atmosphere with windows allowing the sunshine.

We were very pleased with the hotel's location overlooking a park in Calais. It was very reasonably priced, and breakfast was very good. Benoit was accommodating and helpful. Although the hotel is undergoing renovations, our room was pretty and pleasant. It was very reasonably priced, and we would definitely stay there again.

We were delighted with the room, especially for the price. Everything was neat, clean and comfortable and we were about 12 euros by cab from the Calais ferry terminal. We even had kind of a nice view, picturesque docks and a great sunset. The desk clerk was courteous on reception, although as everything in the room was to our satisfaction, we didn't put her to much of a test! Promise of a great dining experience on the premises was what sold us on booking. The food was excellent, although our server, while fluent in English, clearly resented our questions about the menu (not surprisingly, written in French). Of course it was not his job to interpret, but after two weeks on the continent in France and Italy, we had just been spoiled by the graciousness and patience of nearly everybody we had encountered in spite of our feeble language skills Don't let that hold you back. We ended up ordering by the close-your-eyes-and-point system and had a fabulous meal. Small frustration, especially considering there are three more fine dining establishments in the same block, which, regrettably, we had no chance to try! Nice little hotel, perfect for our needs.

The room was clean, cozy and the tub had water jets, which was very relaxing after a long drive. It was everything we needed for an overnight stay before taking the Eurotunnel. We had good access to all of Calais and information in the lobby as to attractions in the city.

Chose this hotel for Eurotunnel trip from previous reviews about location and cleaniness - correct on both counts. Also, what a treat to have drinks-making facilities in room!
